Metheny, Benson, McLaughlin and to be fair cats like Towner and Frisell too are the last of the guitar titans. -- It's interesting too, talking about technique, Martino's left hand fingers were flying all over the place...so Pat defied the technique thing altogether. For example, the contemporary modern jazz guitarist, Tim Miller (and there are others of course) has the ultimate right and left hand technique. The appropriate word would be right and left hand efficiency. -- Yeah, everyone has their favorite Martino album(s)...for me I have 2 albums: The Return and The Maker. I remember when The Return came out, I didn't care for it that much because it's not Pat's typical clean playing. But for me now, it's the raw energy and just putting it all on the line that I love. And the 2nd one, The Maker...well it would take too long here to talk about it but it's Pat as the sage...the master's master. Hi Sheryl!!
