    I love how at the beginning of the "free" part, he still plays the melody for a few seconds, only way more intense.

    I'm pretty sure that when I woke up in the middle of last night, after listening to this about ten times the day before, I dreamt this intensity was coming to get me. Unforgettable piece of work this is.

    Brotzmann is fantastic, he might be my biggest influence. Well, aside from Captain Beefheart.

    Great upload. And here I was beginning to think there was no early footage of Peter Brotzmann.

    Drummer missed the ending maybe because he made his cymbals from the road signs that you can usually find abandoned on Warsawska Street.

    it's not about distinguishing different melodic structures (songs?) from one another, at least not for me. it's about the sound transcending form. however, this piece is not that free, it has a clear head and just one open solo section.

  • @TheDrFunkenstein
    @TheDrFunkenstein 14 лет назад +2

    This is free jazz I can appreciate it has STRUCTURE and it has A MELODY not like some of that other shit floating around where its just noise.

    Never heard this guy before. Bit of a pleb, is me. Cringed at first 10 sec. Then started to laugh pretty hard. Well, then I started to cry because it was so, so beautiful. Sorry, bit emotional. Just broke up.

    It's a combination of many things. Learn to double tongue, hum while playing, open up your mouth more and blow as hard as you possibly can, get a bright mouthpiece, etc.

    brotzzmann uses plastic rheeds like alberrt ayler, i'm pretty sure. look it up on wikipedia. ayler gets a similar tone and he used a special kind of rheed.... i think it was plastic. im not a sax player so i dont really know but i hoep this helps

  • @jlhyz2
    @jlhyz2 12 лет назад

    Its more about improvisation than songs, but they do have a head. Peter Brotzmann's music is hard to tell apart though so sometimes its good and sometimes its really bad. This isn't that great.

  • @pizzaROX
    @pizzaROX 12 лет назад

    im pretty sure peter would be happier with it being called noise rather than music
