I think she wouldve been better off occasionally used since she never gets any development and if she were to appear once in a while, her mean spirited side would be seen as more of a funny side character thing than an annoying toxic friend. She's way too overused, imo, and I'm not a big fan of her design, but if they would've developed and done more with her character I prob wouldn't have minded her as much.
I've always found Ponyhead to be perfectly fine myself. Shockingly straightforward when she needs to be, seems happy to be how she is. Might probably be a(n unintentional) foil to Star's developments. Where as Star took on more responsibility, Ponyhead rejects it as much as possible.
I'm in the minority of really liking Ponyhead. She's funny, unapologetically selfish (which is kind of refreshing), and she does genuinely care about Star, her sisters, and Seahorse (in again, her selfish ways). She's that admittedly obnoxious friend that a lot of people have that, like you said, is great in small doses. But they tend to overstep, disregard boundaries, and the act gets old fast. I feel her upbringing had a huge hand in that; that episode does at least explain why she probably thinks her approach to relationships is fine, actually.
@s0cKGuy221 Right? I kind of feel like "redeeming" at any point was not ever in the cards. She has her moments of reflection but she's there to bounce off the other characters, not to really change much herself. Her confidence is refreshing, even if it can be misplaced.
The ponyhead family baffles me for one reason alone. They have one unseen sister except for the intro named Chezna who has a horse body sewn on! And we get no information about it! ITS INFURIATING WHATS HER DEAL
I'm betting if Star Vs. The Forces of Evil was instead an animated movie with a "star-studded cast" they probably would have casted Awkwafina as the voice of Pony Head herself.
Her entire existence and not making her mute is a tragedy This reminds me too much of Chris Sonnenburg and his undying love of Frederick from "Tangled:the Series" along with his monumentally, humongous, and undying hatred of Varian (he hated the fact the viewers liked Varian more than Frederick)
Frederick's the king right? Considering how the show tried to develop him, I can see why he's Chris' favorite. Dude likely wanted to show nuance of overprotective parents.

Not only she an obvious Influenced to not just Snooki but even *GOD DAMN* Dijonay form The Proud Family (which honestly makes way too much sense and truly explain ALOT about her character), but talk about someone who started out decent only to be entolreable to say the very least!!! Even Season 4 when that gave her the worst treatment from party animal to being a Mettaton Wannabe!!! No joke, Instead of making Eclipsa joke (only to throw that away and continued to be despised and loathed), Ponyhead's ego continued to go "head" up putting her own ego first then make her look good and Ironically a "head" start of kidnapping her to boost her ego even more making Star and her friend go out on this wild goose chase to find Eclipsa only to find she's perfectly fine playing some weird VR Game without even having to use here arms despite being tied up! (even Princess Peach didn't get this kind of treatment and also wouldn't be surprised that Eclipsa let other monsters "kidnapped" her often and even cheats behind her husband's back or *LITERALLY INFRONT OF HIM STILL FROZEN!!!* and surprised Meteora didn't had more "siblings" before her eyes!) and glad that *NEVER* got her own spin-off series afterwards let alone shorts before Star Vs. Series Finale ended and not too long ago 2 weeks ago she and Marco appeared In a song parody with Molly and Remy and we're mentioned at one point as Marco still kick butt while Pony did more "head" then "kicks" If y'know what I mean! (literally headbutting not that out of context moment, so get your mind out of the gutter!) Last but not least; now that Star, Moon, and Eclipsa permanently destroyed the magic, why Is Ponyhead let alone Rich Pigeon and a few others didn't die with the magic or to say the least; turned back to regular small minded animals with no speaking Intelligence or own magic to speak of since Rhombulus's snake arms are now just regular snakes and yet Rich Pigeon would be Regular Pigeon, and has for Ponyhead shockingly enough; could've just been a literally dead decapped head decaying and rotting on the bed!!! Seriously It'd be no difference how Billy and Mandy normally deal with shockingly dark humour and no difference should be here too let alone The Owl House normally but "hay, why the long face!" Overall; though Ponyhead still could've been her own save and grace during the decent episodes, but here truly killed her off without a trace, and see you next time on your thoughts on Janna cause I got alot to say about her as well being not just a regular decent comic relief but also was wanted potential In Season 4. In defense of the face ripping princess, imagine the fact in a lot of monarchies that even while men can be ferocious warlords and cold blooded murderers , women can not.
@@starstorm1267 Solaria and the whole kingdom of mewni were literally just killing monsters because they were racist so ......... Kinda different than post monster acceptance mewni and other kingdoms relationships with war, I mean star is there for different reasons but she does take the time to protect earth and her kingdom and the reeducation programs doesn't want that at all either. All because of a robot. Remember that.
The only episode where I really agreed with her is one of the ones you didn’t mention: Lint Catcher. Star reacts to Marco leaving Mewni in an overly emotional manner by being too attached to the hoodie, and Ponyhead is the only one willing to tell her she is not doing herself any favors by clinging to it. I think this is only reasonable because of their ages; being really into scents of people you care about is something I definitely grew out of. If I was to compare her to any more well developed best friend character, it would be Tuca from Tuca and Bertie. She’ll tell Bertie when she needs to get out of her own head and drag her to do something fun. That dynamic definitely could have worked in seasons 3 and 4 where it seemed like Star was really pushing herself to her own detriment in some episodes.
I was never invested that much into this show so I actually did enjoy ponyhead as a comic relief, even tho she was written terribly. The voice actress did a great job with the comedic timing.
The thing is, I liked pony at the start. I never disliked her until after she got her horn back so quickly. She never learned her lesson and didn't grow. I was disappointed
I agree, but she should've got character development and learn a lesson, comic relief characters exist, but they made it her whole personality! She was a wasted character.
Ironic, like Mabel she is the creator's favorite character and for that she got the special treatment hence why both are controversial She makes even Robbie likeable!and thats an achievment because I FREAKING DESPISE THAT ROOFY-EDGELORDING-VALENTINO KNOCKOFF!
Well, with Mabel, at least you got the excuse that she was based off of Alex Hirsch's Sister. But the others? I can't really think of an excuse for the other Characters.
But wasn't that stuff made out of....Hooves? Unless you somehow find the rest Pony's Body, I don't think there's much you can turn into glue. Freezing her in Carbonite might be a good alternative though. Then she finally shuts her trap.
Isn't this a little harsh? Her worst crime is being in the hands of subpar writers. With a little talent and idea of good character development, Pony Head could've been one of the show's most popular characters.
I really feel the same as many in the comments, I was annoyed by all the PH screen time. She was obnoxious, self centered ,and dead weight on the series. It's trying to make us actually like a brat bully.
With all the ideas you threw around, maybe YOU should've been a writer for Star vs. And I'm kinda confused as to why Pony Head is given flak everywhere, but the Owl House's construction rat isn't, despite deserving flak more than Pony Head does. At least Pony Head showed LEGITIMATE empathy at points (despite me randomly dropping Star vs mid-Season 1).
@@pinkiemeowstic89 That guy only had a major role in like two episodes though. Ponyhead was present throughout the entire show. So that's a major difference right there.

I remember loving pony head and thinking she was funny during the first couple seasons and then she was terrible. that pr episode in particular made me hate her so much
Will there be a similar video about Kelly? As for me, she had great potential as a character, especially in conjunction with Marco (not so much as a couple, but as a complementary character).
The writers probably didn't think out the idea through, and they thought it would probably leave a bad taste that Star essentially crippled her best friend.
im my opinion, season 1 didnt have limited animation, it had so much more animation, when I rewatched it or saw clips of season 1 from time to time, the overwhelming difference in the style of animation is there. much more fluid in movement I would say.

I honestly despise pony head as a character in general, but this was a nice video.
Pony head fills me with so much wonder
As in I wonder if you can kill someone whose already decapitated
I'm in the minority of really liking Ponyhead. She's funny, unapologetically selfish (which is kind of refreshing), and she does genuinely care about Star, her sisters, and Seahorse (in again, her selfish ways). She's that admittedly obnoxious friend that a lot of people have that, like you said, is great in small doses. But they tend to overstep, disregard boundaries, and the act gets old fast. I feel her upbringing had a huge hand in that; that episode does at least explain why she probably thinks her approach to relationships is fine, actually.
I think the problem is trying to make being unapologetically selfish an endearing trait, when it's just not. It's toxic.
@s0cKGuy221 Right? I kind of feel like "redeeming" at any point was not ever in the cards. She has her moments of reflection but she's there to bounce off the other characters, not to really change much herself. Her confidence is refreshing, even if it can be misplaced.
Honestly. In my area, i used to see plenty of girls that act a lot like Ponyhead. So I've always been fine with her.
After reading the comments I'm relieved that I'm not the only one here who likes ponyhead
15:55 I would just like to point out the probably unintentional irony of a collective screaming "its not criminal to be an idividual"
You're Not Alone In Thinking That.
1:09 helluva boss stolas? As far as I know, he is a very loved character
Her entire existence and not making her mute is a tragedy
This reminds me too much of Chris Sonnenburg and his undying love of Frederick from "Tangled:the Series" along with his monumentally, humongous, and undying hatred of Varian (he hated the fact the viewers liked Varian more than Frederick)
Varian had an interesting character arc as early as season 1----fans are BOUND to eat that up!!!
Who chris
@@pumkin610 He’s the creator of TTS
Frederick's the king right? Considering how the show tried to develop him, I can see why he's Chris' favorite.
Dude likely wanted to show nuance of overprotective parents.
THANK YOU actually the person i felt the worst for (or anything really towards) was camila she clearly loves her daughter and it's shown she tried everything to fix Luz's bad behavior and yet she's villified by most of the fandom even to this day while they bend over backwards defending luz's dangerous and reckless behavior
RIP Ponyhead, killed by lack of magical life support. Thanks Star, you killed your best friend because you had a bad day.
She is still alive she was in the finale after star destroyed the magic
@@da-vidcargill4975 That's just because the writers didn't think about the idea through, and they didn't want Star to suffer consequences for her actions.
@@da-vidcargill4975 She'll die of sepsis soon, I think.
@@kittykittybangbang9367 I can totally see the magic being destroyed, all the pony heads fall to the ground, twitch a bit and everything goes still
Oh god don't *EVER* remind me of her cause you have *NO IDEA* I *LOATHE* her with a burning passion and humongous Insults to Ponies (even the Brony Community everywhere) parody/spoof or not, she got on my last never since Season 4 hit the fans. Seriously It'd be no difference how Billy and Mandy normally deal with shockingly dark humour and no difference should be here too let alone The Owl House normally but "hay, why the long face!"
Overall; though Ponyhead still could've been her own save and grace during the decent episodes, but here truly killed her off without a trace, and see you next time on your thoughts on Janna cause I got alot to say about her as well being not just a regular decent comic relief but also was wanted potential In Season 4. I need something to truly calm me down form all of this cause I feel so burned out, maybe listening to some FNF or Emezie's music would cool me of! Speaking of which; Porkchops N' Flatscreens Is turning 10 years old this upcoming anniversary next Friday and I'm curious what's your thoughts on the series or early music videos and let me know who your favourite/least charterer of the series or what got you nostalgic before the actually main series?
Have you ever heard the tragedy of Pony Head the Obnoxious?
If you think stolas is an unpopular character you haven't been paying attention, he's pretty much the main character now anyway
I love how Hooty grew on people, he has his moments.
Don’t forget after all hooty is responsible for giving us lumity.
I always loved Hooty
He’s a sweet demonic owl tube with a heart of gold
After season 1 Hooty became hilarious!
She's just like any animal friend sidekick that's supposed to be funny, which scale goes from forgettable to painfully annoying, and sadly she like most is in the second one
I loved Pony Head and loved the episodes centered around her. 🦄
In defense of the face ripping princess, imagine the fact in a lot of monarchies that even while men can be ferocious warlords and cold blooded murderers , women can not.
What about Queen Solaria then? She was a queen in mewini’s monarchy and she was a genocidal warlord against monsters.
@@starstorm1267 and I'm saying specifically based off that princesses' culture they're not all from the same place or have the same problems
The same way pony head didn't like marco but had to deal with it 🤣🤣🤣
5:28 Well Marco DID get the horn in the later seasons.... But then got magically healed so eh
Season 1 really did have much better, more energic animation.
I can't believe you just said season 1 had limited animation...
The fudge did you just say about Kelly during the first minute?!
Eh you're right, the writers didn't let her potential grow when it should've.
I really like Kelly, but she was fricked over by the writers and ended up being useless
@@RikkiLove0317 It's unfair
Jenny Slate is one of the funniest people on the planet and I never got all the Ponyhead hate!
I agree, but she should've got character development and learn a lesson, comic relief characters exist, but they made it her whole personality! She was a wasted character.
The tragedy of pony head is that she was a reoccurring character
i have to say you got me to watch star all over again
Ironic, like Mabel she is the creator's favorite character and for that she got the special treatment hence why both are controversial
She makes even Robbie likeable!and thats an achievment because I FREAKING DESPISE THAT ROOFY-EDGELORDING-VALENTINO KNOCKOFF!
Well, with Mabel, at least you got the excuse that she was based off of Alex Hirsch's Sister.
But the others? I can't really think of an excuse for the other Characters.
There NEEDS to be talk about creator's pets in media and how to avoid/remedy this pitfall.
@@DrawciaGleam02 agree
Sighs it makes me sad that my favorite character became very hated or disliked by the fandom over the years.
@@zkme2734
yeah, I get that feeling. It sucks.
Honestly they should have taken this horse to the glue factory
But wasn't that stuff made out of....Hooves?
Unless you somehow find the rest Pony's Body, I don't think there's much you can turn into glue.
Freezing her in Carbonite might be a good alternative though. Then she finally shuts her trap.
Isn't this a little harsh? Her worst crime is being in the hands of subpar writers. With a little talent and idea of good character development, Pony Head could've been one of the show's most popular characters.
@@pinkiemeowstic89 Well, "most popular" is maybe taking it a little too far, but anything would have been better than what we got.
@@johannesseyfried7933 I did say "one of", but thanks for hearing me out.

I honestly never thought of poney head as comical relief
Daron Nefcy really screwed up the characters. I want to like pony head but Daron never gives me a reason to like pony head.
I'm actually really sad pony head never got development because I actually kinda like her
Onion is my favorite Steven Universe human, didn't knew people hated him
I really feel the same as many in the comments, I was annoyed by all the PH screen time. She was obnoxious, self centered ,and dead weight on the series. It's trying to make us actually like a brat bully.
Hey sister saying “THAT DOESNT MAKE NO SENSE UR SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD” is amazing 😂 also is that titta- did they lock her in the closet
Owl House's construction rat????
@@DrawciaGleam02 I hate saying or typing his real name. Hint: he's somehow shipped with Gus and his name isn't Hunter.
@@pinkiemeowstic89 That guy only had a major role in like two episodes though. Ponyhead was present throughout the entire show. So that's a major difference right there.
@@pinkiemeowstic89 Ah, you're talking about Mattholomule.
0:14 to be fair at least Jenny Slate played a more likeable character in The Great North which if you haven't seen The Great North it's from the same people who made Bob's Burgers which is just as Funny and charming as Bob's Burgers
I'm one of those people who didn't really hate Pony Head that much for the first two seasons. She could be annoying but she could also legit be funny sometimes and she was used in small doses. But in season 3 and 4, she was around ALL the time and like several kidney characters, she was flanderized to the point in which I REALLY disliked her.
Pony Head ,is an angelic narcotic. She was stars dealer.
I never really liked ponyhead but i do love her voice actor
I remember loving pony head and thinking she was funny during the first couple seasons
and then she was terrible. that pr episode in particular made me hate her so much
I think the message should be "I'll improve if I choose"
A good amount of the time I forget she exist
at least Pony Head may have the only likeable character in Star vs the Forces of Evil
1:15 peaople hated Stolas!? I never knew that people disliked him at first
I love the cotton candy background! Keep it :3
People don't like stolas? Stolas is a bit sexually aggressive but I didn't think he was hated.
Will there be a similar video about Kelly? As for me, she had great potential as a character, especially in conjunction with Marco (not so much as a couple, but as a complementary character).
I like Kelly. To bad we couldn't get more of her. She was a good add to the show. Plus why does everyone have to get into a relationship?
Hey I always loved Hooty
WOW STAR DECLARES DEVOTION EPISODE 2
She is the Jah Jah Binks of Star Vs
If magic was destroyed, why & how is she still alive?
The writers probably didn't think out the idea through, and they thought it would probably leave a bad taste that Star essentially crippled her best friend.
im my opinion, season 1 didnt have limited animation, it had so much more animation, when I rewatched it or saw clips of season 1 from time to time, the overwhelming difference in the style of animation is there. much more fluid in movement I would say.
Damn I loved Pony Head sassy ass! She was the only one besides Jana who could do no wrong to me.
Okay but why is pony head so Relatable
Pony head is gonna burn her kingdom down … and prolly ditch it
