Six Days To Santiago: Walking the Camiño Inglés

  • This is the story of a week walking the Camiño Inglés from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela in April 2022.
    It was my third Camino, the shortest and the least populated, as the Camino recovers from two years of Covid and many other unwanted distractions.
    But just like the other routes I have walked, it taught me many lessons and gave me peace, calmness and serenity, with gorgeous Galician landscapes delighting me at every stage.
    120km are summarised here in 23 minutes, along with the marvellous bonus of a first trip to Muxía and a visit to the Monumento al Caminante at Monte do Gozo.
    As ever, a week on the Camino is worth so much more than that.

    Thanks for doing the video. Just come back from another Camino and they are special. I also loved Muxia …it is really very special. Each Camino is different and you always learn …so they get better!

    Hello…..just found you video. Wonderful, brought back MANY memories…. Walked the Ingles in September 2022. Weather was perfect and NO rain….
    Question…did you know the fellow towards the end of the Camino who was wearing the Texas Longhorns cap? I live in that University town.
    Thanks …Paul

    Hi John...What a great video. My son-in-law has invited me to join him on the Camino Ingles Spring 2024 and your video has inspired me to say yes (Even though I will be 65 and he is 20 years younger and a lot fitter than me). I think we may follow the same route as you (it looks glorious - just hope we have as good weather as you seem to have had) Any tips from your own experience as this will be my first Camino (Ferrol-Santiago)

    • @johnlloyd3279
      @johnlloyd3279  Год назад

      Hello! I flew into A Coruña (which meant I saw a large section of the route from the air). Then I took a bus from there to Ferrol the following morning. The bus station at Ferrol is a couple of kilometres from the harbour and the official start point of the Camino route, and you'll be walking back some of the same streets once you begin, but that's fine. I wrote a daily blog that may help you too. Start here! johnelsewhere.blog/2022/04/01/who-do-we-think-we-are/

      Thanks Susan! It took six days to walk from Ferrol to Santiago. And then I caught a bus to Muxía. Perhaps I might walk from Santiago to Muxía and Finisterre next!

      Thankyou for saying you were in A Coruña before your walk. (Maternal side of my family is from there and I spent many happy Summers as a child on Playa Riazor with my cousins)
      I plan to walk the Camino Ingles in 2023 with my daughter after a stop in A Coruña first (2-3 days) to introduce her to our heritage and visit my grandparents grave. It will feel like going home for me even though not been there since 1985! Thankyou for your video of beautiful Galicia.
