      @@coachellareefer3118 Were I live I’m not allowed to have pets and I’m too hesitant to post about my tanks. I just have a 30L biOrb Cube with 3 African dwarf frogs, 2 guppies and a male betta, and a 5 gallon betta tank at the moment!

    Heat up a nail on the and poke it through the plastic just hold the nail with a tool so you don't get burned..save u on having to buy a tool to poke the bottle with holes.I made a mini version for my 12 gallon drop off reef tank...Thanks for the idea..

    Quick critique. Water will follow path of least resistance, so once that floss builds a water bio film on it in a few days the water is just going to rinse past it and not through it. Hence, the media won’t be in contact with new pollutants.

    We’re u supposed to wash the media with RO/DI water? If not, u will introduce phosphate and silicates to ur water column, imho.

      Yes that is recommended but to be honest I don’t use RO water on my tank 🤔 I use regular tap water from my house and don’t even add anything to the water 💦 my tank does very good I just do a 20% water change per month. The funny thing is that when I used RO water from a fish store everything would get so much phosphate and other things build up so I stoped using RO.

    Bro a media bag would’ve worked just as fine, maybe even better

      My idea here was to capture as much particles as posible to have the tank water super clear.

      @@coachellareefer3118 Wouldn’t a filter sock be a better idea?

    • @coachellareefer3118
      @coachellareefer3118  3 года назад

      Yes I also have a filter sock but they get clogged too fast so the carbon works better for me.

      @andrewaxel 3 года назад

      @@coachellareefer3118 I see, I personally run a media basket which is almost what you built here. I don’t like the idea of filter socks either tbh
