Angelina Eonni88 . They are sister. Chi Pu is Cám (the evil sister) and the other one is Tấm (Cindarella). The King love Tấm but Chi Pu love him too. On the day their father dead, Tấm come home and climb the tree to take the fruit that their father like the most after he die. And then Chi Pu take a knife, cut down the tree and Cindarella fall to dead. Because they are sister so Chi become the Queen. But Cindarella soul reborn into the bird. So that Bird come to the King and he like it. Some how Chi Pu know that bird is her sister, so she kill the bird. Then, Cindarella’s soul is reborn into a kind of fruit. One old lady take that fruit, and by the magic, Cindarella transform to human and take care of the old lady. After that, the King find out about every thing, so he find Cindarella and kill Chi Pu. In the story charactor of Chi Pu is so evil, she do all that thing just to become the queen. But in the song, Chi Pu do that thing because she is love the king so much, jealous with her síter but she dont know that the King’s gaurdien like Chi Pu so much (the guy at the end of video). Angelina Eonni88 “Tấm Cám” is a famous Vietnamese fairytale, just as Cinderella. As the original fairytale, “Tấm” is a good girl, same as Cinderella. “Cám” is as Cinderella’s step-sister, known as bad girl. This song tells the story from a bad girl-Cám’s perspective. It shows why Cám becomes a devil, a murderer who kill her step-sister many times (as human, bird, tree...) until receiving a death sentence after the “dead” sister reborns again in the end. The reason is LOVE. A tragedy, chasing after the King-wrong person.

nce upon a time, there lived a beautiful girl named Tấm. She was very young when her mother died. But despite her mother’s absence, Tấm was a very happy girl since her father, who loved her dearly, devoted his days raising her and looking after her. But things changed when Tấm’s father fell in-love with a wicked lady, whom he married and later gave birth to a daughter named Cám.
Jealous towards the father’s attention to her, Tấm’s stepmother and stepsister treated her badly. She was made to wear rags then forced to cook, scrub the floors, work around the house and fetch water every day and night. But day by day, no matter how hard Tấm worked, she remained beautiful. With her hair as gentle as the wind, skin as fair as the clouds and her voice as sweet as that of the nightingale’s, their jealousy towards Tấm grew even worse as the days passed. Attempting to get rid of her, her stepmother started sending her out to dangerous errands for hopes that harm might befall her. But everytime Tấm comes home safe, it angers her even more.
One day, the stepmother sent both Tấm and Cám to fish in the river, promising to reward the girl who brings home the most fish with a pretty red Áo yếm silk. Hoping to wear something beautiful for the first time, Tấm worked hard to catch all the fish she could and at the end of the day, she gathered enough to fill her basket with. Since Cám spent the whole afternoon wandering along the riverbank, she realized that her basket was still empty. She tricked Tấm to wash in the river before heading home, to which Tấm agreed. While in the river, her cunning sister Cám switched their baskets and hurried home.
When Tấm discovered that her basket was empty, her heart sank and broke into tears knowing she could never get to wear the red silk. Suddenly, a soothing wind blew against her skin, and when Tấm looked up, the Goddess of Mercy appeared before her. Having seen her sufferings, the Goddess promised to look after her and asked the girl to look in the basket to find a small golden fish. She instructed Tấm to bring the fish home, care for it and feed it well.
Obeying what the Goddess had told her, Tấm took the fish to the well behind their house and fed it constantly with what she could save from her food. Day by day, the fish would eagerly wait for Tấm as she comes to bring its food. It would swim gracefully as Tấm sings, and soon, the fish became Tấm’s only friend. But the jealous stepmother could not bear to see Tấm happy. She sent her to an errand and while Tấm was away, she took the fish from the well and cooked it for dinner.
When Tấm could no longer find her fish, it broke her heart so much and wept. Again, the Goddess of Mercy appeared to her and advised her to bury the bones of the fish in four separate jars underneath each corner of her bed, of which Tấm obeyed.
Time passed, and news have spread around about the grand celebration the King will hold. As, everyone in the kingdom is invited, Tấm looked forward to attending the ball. The day finally came and everyone was excited. To prevent Tấm from coming to the celebration, her stepmother mixed two big baskets of black and green beans together then told her to sort them out before she is allowed to go. Dressed in lovely gowns, her stepmother and Cám left poor Tấm alone in the house.
Tấm tearfully sorted the beans, knowing she could never finish them on time to catch up with the ball. But suddenly, the Goddess of Mercy came before her, turned the flies into sparrows and sorted the beans in no time. Tấm was then told to dig up the four jars she buried underneath the corners of her bed. To her surprise, each jar contained extravagant treasures of a beautiful silk dress, jewelries, golden slippers and a lovely chariot. Tấm quickly dressed herself and the chariot swiftly rode to the palace doors. Unknowingly, she dropped a single slipper into the river.
The slipper flowed along the river and made its way to the palace. One of the servants found it and took it to the king. Instantly taken by its marvel and beauty, the king proclaimed that any maiden in the celebration who can slip her foot perfectly into the slipper will be made his bride. All of the ladies hoped they would fit into the slippers, including Cám, but none of them succeeded. Then a woman in a beautiful silk dress appeared before the king, wearing a single slipper matching to that of the one in the king’s hand. When the king placed the other slipper in her foot, it perfectly matched her. The king knew he just found his queen. On that very night, the king married Tấm and a celebration was held for her honour.
Now a queen, Tấm lives in a nice palace with her beloved king while her jealous stepmother and stepsister stayed in their old house. On the day of her father’s anniversary, Tấm had to come home to do her filial duty. Her cunning stepmother asked Tấm to climb an areca tree to gather betel nuts and offer to her father’s altar. Tấm obeyed and as she climbed the tree, the wicked stepmother chopped the tree with an axe. Tấm had fallen off and died. Eager to be queen, Cám put on her sister’s royal garb and entered the palace to take her sister’s place.
Tấm, longing for her beloved, reincarnated into a beautiful nightingale and dwelt into the king’s garden. While the king, disheartened over the loss of her beautiful queen, constantly yearned for Tấm. He became quiet and wants to be left alone. One day, as he was wandering in his garden, the nightingale sang into the sweetest melody that captured the king’s heart. Reminded of how lovely Tấm sings, the king called out to the nightingale to land in the wide sleeves of his robe if she is the spirit of his late queen. When the nightingale did exactly as the king said, he was so delighted and he ordered for a golden cage to be placed beside his bed. There, he spent his days beside the nightingale as it sang beautiful melodies to him. Cám, whom the king never became fond of, grew increasingly jealous of the bird. When the king was away one day, she took it from the cage, killed it and buried it in the woods.
Time had passed, a magnificent tree grew from the very spot where the nightingale was buried. It bore nothing but a single golden fruit of purely sweet scent. A poor old woman walked by one day and admired the fruit so greatly. She begged it to fall to her promising not to eat it, but only to adore it. And indeed it fell to her, of which she kept her promise. She placed the golden fruit on the table not to eat it, but only to enjoy its sweet smell.
When the old woman came home the next day, she was surprised to find the house tidy and a delicious hot meal waiting on the table for her. Curious to know who the kind-hearted person is doing such good things, she pretended to leave the next day, stayed behind the door and waited. To her amazement, the beautiful Tấm came out of the golden fruit and started tidying the house. Quickly, the old woman tore up the fruit peel so she could no longer go back in it. She then kept Tấm like her own daughter and they both lived in her house in the woods.
One day, when the king was hunting, he noticed a very special smell of betel which reminded him of the very same manner his late queen prepares it. He followed the smell which eventually led him to the old woman’s hut. Delighted to see the king, the old woman welcomed him and offered him some tea and betel. The king was amazed to find the betel prepared in the very peculiar way Tấm had always prepared it and he asked the old woman who had made them. When told that it was her daughter, the king ordered for her to be brought to him.
Tấm came and bowed to him, and it did not take long for the king to recognize her. Overjoyed, both of them wept and Tấm was immediately brought back to the palace and took her former place as the real queen.
Cám, who was completely neglected by the king, saw how Tấm was still beautiful as ever with her hair still as gentle as the wind and her skin still as fair as the clouds. In hopes she could win the king’s heart if she could be as beautiful as her sister, she begged Tấm to reveal her secret for having such lovely fair skin. Tấm told her sister to jump in a basin of boiling water. Cám believed her and did exactly as she said. She died a horrible death. When her stepmother learned about what happened, she wept until she became blind. With no one left to wish her harm, Tấm and the king finally lived happily ever after.

I think you guys should read "Tam Cam" of Vietnam (not Cinderella) in English before watching the music video, indeed. You need to understand the plot of the story first, then u can understand how meaningful the mv and lyrics are.

the guy at the end of the mv was falling in love with Cám( the singer). When Tấm( the one that the king loved) retake her place, Cám was killed. That guy was really sad. As you have known, This mv is about the story " Tấm Cám" but it changed the narrator. As usual, Tấm would tell the story. but now, the story was told by Cám.

This story is like a Vietnamese version of Cinderella, the singer is the stepsister, named Cam, and the cinderella is Tam. Things happened just like in Cinderella but after Tam married the king, she came back to her house, along with Cam, to make an anniversary of their father's death. In Vietnam, in this anniversary we need the areca fruit and in the story, Tam climbed on the tree to take it, that's why in the MV Cam was holing a knife, to chop down the tree and kills Tam. Back then in the old days, if a family has more than a daughter, one was married or engaged but then passed away, one of the others has to become the bride. So when Tam is dead, Cam took her place and became the queen, but then Tam reborned to become a bird and always stay next to the king. In our story, the bird told Cam: You took my husband, i'll rip your eyes off, so Cam knew that was Tam and she killed her again. Tam rebirth again in the form of an "gold apple" and then cameback to the human form, that's when the king found her and Cam falled into despair. After the reunion, Cam came home and Tam returned to be the queen, but she also came back to put a revenge on Cam, she killed Cam with boiled water and fed her stepmom with her daughter's flesh then let the woman died in suffer. In the MV, when Cam is dead, the only one left who is crying and making a funeral for her is the king's guardian, which is the one gave her the umbrella in the very first day.

This is a love story by 4 people. The guard is in love with Cam ( bad girl, second wife of the king), Cam is in love with king, the king is in love with her sister Tâm.....
Tấm reincarnates into an oriole. For some reasons, the king believed that the bird was his old wife and spent all his time with it. Cám then killed the bird.
After several reincarnation, Tấm turned into a fruit and for some coincidence, Tấm and the King reunited.
After having turned to the Palace, Tam killed Cam cruelly.
In this MV, Chi Pu starred "Cám". (You can see, her left foot was bleeding on attempt to fit the shoe; and the scene when she held a knife, preparing to cut down the tree on which Tấm was climbing; and she burning the bird cage...) There are some changes in comparison with the original story. Originally, Cám was jealous with Tấm and she loved the wealth so she tried to harm Tấm. But in "Anh ơi ở lại", Cám fell in love with the King (in the rainy day) and she was willing to do everything to have his love.
Another creation was the king's attendant who didn't appear in the original "Tấm Cám". At the end of the MV, he was burning joss paper for Cám (after she was killed by Tấm). Perhaps he was the only person who loved Cám and cried for her death. He cared for her, but she never knew...
Cam loves the king and the man in the ending loves Cam :(((

Well this story is told in eye an of Cam( the step sister of Tam). Originally, Cam and her mother always expressed their hatred towards Tam. Tam is a pretty and benevolent girl, who's destined to be meet the king by a loss of her RIGHT shoe on the way she got home after the village festival. The King had found the shoe and commanded that whoever could fit this shoe would be his wife. Cam got to know this and prepared by cutting parts of her LEFT heel to fit the shoe, unfortunately she failed to do so and then her step sister Tam was chosen for fitting the shoe, as it's hers. Cam was jealous of that and she along with her mother came up with the idea of killing Tam to replace her position. They did it, but with help of a God, she came through several reincarnations and at last returned to her initial version, Tam. In this MV, they skipped some of Tam's transformation phases, and the bird that the King got appealed to was actually one of Tam's forms. Cam, however, always tried to kill Tam, but in the end Tam came back to the King and Cam got hit by a lightning and died.
This story is a flip from the original version as it's under Tam's words. They tried to tell that Tam is a pathetic girl too and deserves true love like other girls. At the end, the safeguard has showed similar case to Cam as he sneakily loved Cam but she had no notice and care, which was true for Cam's love towards the King.

this MV is about Cam’s attitude. Everyone talks about the plot yet, so I tell another side. Although she is a bad girl, she has her own love desire. She really loves the King, she can do anything to be loved by him. Unfortunately, he can never forget Tam- his wife. After Tam comes back, Tam kills Cam in return by pouring boiled water into Cam until her death. Tam cooks Cam into sauce then give it back to her stepmother. her stepmother eats it, seeing Cam’s head inside then die!
at the end of this mv (the new thing of the origin story) , the safeguard burn papers for Cam, he loves Cam in his first sight but he can’t surpass the King’s position and Cam loves the King , so until her death, she still doesn’t know that love. btw, she still has the one who follows her and loves her
this story is really pathetic, in Vietnamese literature, old people think Tam is a good girl, Cam is bad, so the end of Cam is the best but nowadays, many people like me think in another side, like love in real life, if we want to have love, we have to pay for it

this story likes another version of cinderella. Ít about Tấm and Cám ( in this MV, Chipu acts Cám) Tấm is a beautiful, kind girl. She is an orphan and lives with her step mother with her daughter, she's Cám. Both the step mother and Cám are also unkind, bully Tấm, offer her to do all housework. Then the royal organizes a contest to choose a wife for the prince. Tấm and Cám are very excited to take part in this contest. But Cam and her mother don't want to let Tam go to this place, so they are do many thing to force Tam stay at home. This part is the same as Cinderella. So I don't need to tell. But this story is longer. After Tam and The prince get married, Tam want to go home to prepare for her dad's death anniversary. At that time, Cam and her mother want to kill her so they cut the tree and Tam died. After that, Cam goes to the palace and replaces Tam. But the prince just misses Tam. Tam's soul becomes a oriole and stands by side the prince. Cam knows this thing so she kill the bird. After that, Tam also becomes a loom and threatens Cam again. Cam is so threatened then she burned this loom. Then Tam changes to a gold apple and an old woman gets this then goes home. Everyday, Tam helps her do housework and they live together. Then The prince suddenly goes to the home on his business. He feels that the food in this home like the one Tam did. Then Tam and he meet again. He brings her back to the palace and live happily. Cam and her mother deserve a bad result for their act.
This MV is the story with main character is Cam, not Tam. so we can see that, to be honest, Cam also loves the Prince heartily, and she falls in devil beacause of the situation.If you want to know more about this, you can watch the movie " Tam cam the untold story" . It's pretty good.

This MV bases on a Vietnamese fairy tale called Tam Cam. It begins when Tam’s father got married with a new wife, whose daughter was Cam ( the singer -Chipu- plays this role) .... To be the king’s wife, Cam had cut her heel to fit the shoes ( 4:14 ). Even so, she couldn’t. Tam was the one who fitted the shoes and became the king’s wife. On the day when the stepmother died, Tam came home and was asked to climb up the trees to pick up some areca-nuts. Cam took the knife and cut down the tree to kill Tam, so that she could take the place of Tam. Tam then transformed into a bird and was by the king’s side .Cam killed the bird again. Through many transformations, Tam then become a fig(??) dropping into a grandma’sbag (6:08 ), who then took care of the fig. From the fig, a girl got out, she was exactly Tam. Tam saw the king again and they lived happily while Cam had a death penalty. The ending scene that the imperial guard falling in love with Cam burned the votive paper, means that Cam was dead.
From the original story, people just feel sorry for Tam and digust Cam, but Chipu has made a MV that changes everybody’s mindset and makes us feel sympathetic when put ourselves into Cam’s shoes

I know it’s confusing because the story goes too fast. This mv was suppose to be made for vietnamese, who has known the story of “Tấm Cám” before, to enjoy. If you have already known the story, it would be easy to understand. Although the director added some details that don’t belong to the original story, it showed a different perspective of the character “Cám”, who was played by Chi Pu.

Yes, the singer and the king were getting married. All the scenes of her wearing that extravagant red gown and head piece are of the wedding.
The reason why the singer's heal was stitched up during the shoe fitting was because she cut off part of her heal so that her foot would be able to fit the shoe.
From what I know about the olden days in China, small feet is preferred when it comes to picking out brides. That is why the Chinese has a history of foot-binding practices. I don't know for sure if it is the same case for this video, but I would assume so since there wasn't a missing shoe scene.
The man singing at the end of the video was the guy that held the umbrella for the girls at the beginning. While the main singer was busy chasing after the king, she didn't notice that the king's servant was in love with her. One of the last scene was of the servant opening the curtain of a carriage for the singer. The servant had to watch the women that he was in love with marry someone else.
By having the servant become the singer at the end of the video creates a parallel between his romantic circumstance and the main character's circumstance.
I am kind of late to the game, but I hope this provides more clarification for some things.
Viet Nam didn't have the foot-binding stuff though. There IS missing shoe scene in the Tam Cam story but it just not show in this video, since the story is Cam's POV not Tam.

Once upon a time there was a young girl named Tấm, whose mother died early and her father remarried. Soon after, her stepmother gave birth to a daughter named Cám. When Tấm's father died, the evil stepmother began to abuse Tấm and forced her to do all the housework, while Cám lived in comfort. Stepmother's hatred of Tam was intensified by the fact that Tấm was much prettier than her own daughter Cám, even though Tấm was forced to do all the laboring under the sun.
One day, the stepmother sent Tấm and Cám out fishing, promising to reward the girl who catches the most fish with new red silk lingerie (áoyếm, a form of Vietnamese vintage bra). Cám knew her mother would never punish her, so she only went out and played while Tấm was working hard fishing. When Cám noticed the amount of fish Tấm had caught, Cám told Tấm to wash the mud out of her hair or else she would be scolded by Cám’s mother. As Tấm was washing her hair, Cám poured all the fish Tấm had caught into her own basket and ran home.
Upon discovering she had been tricked, Tấm could only cry. Suddenly, a God(in some versions, a fairy or an angel) appeared in front of her and comforted her. He told Tấm to look into her basket. In it, Tấm discovered one remaining little carp. He told Tấm to take the carp home and put it into the well at the back of the house, and sing a special song to call the fish at feeding time.
Everyday, Tấm would go out to the well after a meal to feed the carp, always reciting the song beforehand so that the carp would come up from the water. The carp grew bigger by the days, but the stepmother began to suspect Tấm's behavior. One day, the stepmother went after Tấm and spied on her while she was feeding the fish. She waited until Tấm was gone, and went over to the well, finding nothing. The stepmother repeated the song she had heard Tam reciting and to her delight, saw the carp come up from the water. The stepmother caught and cooked it right away.
When Tấm discovered this, she broke down in tears. The god again appeared to Tấm and consoled her, and instructed her to salvage the bones of the carp and bury them in four separate jars underneath each corner of her bed.
After some time, the king was hosting a large celebration for his son’s birthday. Tấm pleaded to go along with Cám and her stepmother, but her stepmother wanted to keep Tấm at home. She mixed together countless black and green beans and ordered Tấm to sort them out before she was allowed to go, adding to thefact that Tấm did not have any decent clothes to attend the event.
Tấm still worked hopelessly after Cám and stepmother had gone for a while. She soon broke down and cried out of sadness. Once more, the god appeared and commanded nearby sparrows to sort the beans for Tấm. Tấm was then told to dig up the four jars from the corners of her bed. She found extravagant treasures in each, including a beautiful silk dress, jewelry, golden slippers and even a horse! Tấm dressed herself splendidly and made her way to the celebration, but in her excitement she dropped a single slipper into the river.
The slipper drifted along down the river until it was picked up by one of the prince's attendants. The prince marveled at the beautiful slipper and proclaimed that any maiden at the celebration whose foot fit the slipper would become his first wife. Every eligible lady at the celebration tried on the slipper, including Cám, but all to no avail. Suddenly, a beautiful young girl dressed in a magnificent silk gown appeared whose foot fit perfectly into the slipper.The stepmother and Cám were shocked to discover the mysterious lady was no other than Tấm! Tấm was immediately brought on the royal palanquin into the imperial palace for a grand wedding celebration, right in front of her seething stepmother and stepsister.
One day, on Tấm's father's death anniversary, Tấm fulfilled her filial duty and made a short visit home to attend the ceremony with her family, despite the abuse she had suffered at the hands of her stepmother and stepsister
They asked Tấm to climb an areca palm and gather its nuts for her late father's altar. Tấm obeyed and as she was climbing to the top of the tree, her stepmother took an axe and chopped the tree down. Tấm fell to her death. Cám then put on her sister's royal garb and entered the palace in her place. Tấm was reincarnated as a nightingale and followed her sister into the palace.
The prince, now a king, remained loyal and dearly missed his late wife, despite Cám’s best efforts to please him. One day, a palace maid was hanging the king's dragon robe to dry, when the nightingale appeared and sang a song to remind the maid to be careful with her husband's gown. The bird's song captivated everyone who listened to it, and even drew the attention of the king. The king called out to the nightingale and asked it to fly into the wide sleeves of his robe if it really was the spirit of his late wife. The nightingale did exactly as the king had asked and from then on, it was kept in a golden cage. The king spent most of his days sitting nearby as it sang songs to him. Cám became increasingly furious and asked her mother what she should do. Her mother instructed her to catch the bird and eat it. Cám did as she was told and after the deed was done, she threw the remains over the walls of the palace.
From the remains rose a tree bearing a single, magnificent fruit. A poor old woman who worked as a water vendor walked by one day and saw the fruit, begging it to fall to her, and promising that she wanted not to eat it, but only admire it. Indeed it fell to her, and she kept her word. The next day, the old woman found that when she came home from her errands, the housework was done while she was gone and there was a hot meal waiting for her. The next day she pretended to leave but stayed back and waited, and she saw Tấm emerge from the fruit and begin to do the household chores. The old woman jumped in and tore up the skin of the fruitso Tấm could no longer return to it. Since then, Tấm lived happily as her adopted daughter.
One day, the king, who got lost on a hunting trip, stopped by the hut of the old woman. The old woman offered him betel leaf and areca nut, and when the king saw how the betel had been prepared, in the peculiar special way his late queen had always prepared it; he demanded to know who had prepared the betel leaf. The old woman told him her daughter had done it, and the king commanded her to let him see her daughter. Then, the sister soul became a fruit, failed into a bag of an old woman. The old woman took care of the fruit carefully. One day, the sister walked out from the fruit and met the King in the video. After all, the main character (singer) was the most loneliest girl who wished she could get the King’s love.
