Jackie, you really need to wear a respirator when doing resin products there’s a lot of bad side effects from being exposed resin and I know you have a health issues.
The candles were scented because you don’t eat candles! They don’t want to risk people eating fake foods..as you do in fact usually eat food 😅 That’s the difference. Scenting something people don’t eat vs something people usually eat. Companies generally avoid scenting things like food if they resemble foods to avoid lawsuits, candles however are not food so they’re safe to scent.
@@recoveringsoul755 Play Doh is non toxic, meaning if it was accidentally consumed it would not cause major bodily harm. Should it be consumed? No, but it's better than eating literal resin.
@@GenderedMess it also has a scent and is made for children to play with Same as crayons have a scent. Small children are known for putting things in their mouths. Lots of things have a scent. Maybe it's hard to make unscented products? I don't think the scented candles argument is valid because soap is scented too, deliberately, and is definitely not good for eating
Honestly, the gingerbread house experience was pretty much true to life. With royal icing, it starts off gloopy and takes a while to harden. You have to hold the house pieces together until the icing hardens, or else it collapses. And the decorations really do start to slide if you're not holding them in place. At least here, you can solidify the "icing" immediately. I know there are geniuses out there who can make a perfectly stunning gingerbread house, but I am not one of them, so mine always end up looking like the aftermath of a visit from the Big Bad Wolf XD
Since I don't eat my gingerbread houses, I stick the house part together with hot glue! Because you're right, holding the pieces long enough for the royal icing to harden is HARD. And I'm right there with you, my houses always look a little worse for wear by the time I'm done.
Little tip: Try doing most of the decorating BEFORE putting the house together. Like while the pieces can still lay flat. It's way easier to make candies stick that way. Then fine tune after putting the walls together.
Trying to glue a house together with royal icing is a nightmare!! We make candy and do that- it is so much faster and more reliable. Then we make THICK royal icing for the decorations. And you put the icing on the decoration, not on the house first. Once they’re all dry, you can put more royal icing to tidy it up.
Build a cardboard form first, then affix the pieces to it with a few small dots of melted chocolate to make it easier to hold. When I was a kid this was in part the job of the youngest child to hold a cheap chocolate bar piece until their fingers were coated in melty chocolate then touch the backs of the pieces before adults/teens put them against the forms. The child is then praised and sent off with a cookie to lick their fingers clean and be out of the way. The chocolate sets fast and makes it easy to pop the form inward and free after the royal icing has had a few days to fully cure. We assembled the buildings, let them cure two days, then removed the forms, decorated in stages over a few days - this let us tilt the houses to different angles as we worked on one or two faces at a time, drying for a few hours in between. Then moved to their display platters and touched up. Takes about 10 days to do one or two weeks if you are baking them from scratch as well. there's a lot of waiting for things to dry/cure. Kits started releasing in the 90's and honestly the kits have always misrepresented the time commitment and tried to sell it as a 'fun afternoon or evening activity to do with kids, possibly on the holiday'. It's intentionally frustrating to incentivize buying more 'to try again'.

I noticed for the gingerbread house was to use the spreader that the gingerbread kit gave you to apply resin. I'm guessing they wanted you to use the spreader to spread the resin instead of directly applying it to the roof with the bottle so it won't be as messy. Sorry it's quite difficult to explain I really love your videos they are so satysfying and fun! ❤
I think with the gingerbread house it would be better to maybe go in with some E-6000 or hot glue and glue the pieces together so you don't waste your resin. Then do one side at a time and keep it level while decorating and then hit it with UV. Then do another side, keep it level, etc.. Also, for the chocolate resin, I wonder if you would be able to poke a hole somewhere to allow some air flow to make it come out better??
I LOVE that you added the basting brush to the turkey! It made it just a little bit better and super cute. I think I would have added some cut up pieces of green paper on top to look like some sort of garnish, like parsley. 🤔

There's a 4th one - Buddy the Elf's Candy Spaghetti Plate! - very elusive, but did see someone on here show it... $15+tax CAD?!!! where?!!! I finally found some at a local Showcase store, and they were $35+tx CAD!!!! Please, where did you find them!!!!! I'm hoping to find some on Amazon for cheap afterwards...the Halloween ones dropped price after, so 🤞🤞
I bought my first mini craft a couple of months ago. I bought the gingerbread house. It was a lot smaller than i was expecting, even after watching a lot of Jackies videos, but it was fun to put together. I did have a little uv light from a another craft to flash cure it be firm enough to hold its shape. I live in australia and its summer here so doing the full, final set outside wasn't an issue. I did do some personaliation. I used some markers to colour the 'icing' patterns, little nail art gems and added some extra resin then painted it white to look more like snow. It was fun and i have thought about getting another. I got mine at kmart for $13 aud
For the hot cocoa one, what I did was I put the brown resin on the outer plastic in the cup, set it, and then used extra resin from the other kits to fill the middle. It worked pretty well to make it still look like hot cocoa. They definitely need to find a better solution though.
I manifested this today. Thank you, universe. lol I bought the gingerbread house for me and my daughter.. wanted the Cocoa too but they were $36 CAD in my local AB store.. But at least I got to pick the one I wanted
For the gingerbread house perhaps a better technique would be to work vertically (down --> up) instead of in a horizontal manner (left --> right). That way you only have to support the gumdrop/whipped cream at the bottom, allowing the decorations to stack/lean against the bottom that you support before setting it. You can work column for column that way without it drooping too much.
I just found it today, by weighing the few in store in the produce section that I thought might be it haha! I looked crazy, but it worked! My Walmart scale said 0.24oz for the ball that was the Elf one
That's a good point on the gingerbread house. I think some tools that aren't included in the kit would be better to use, like a normal size craft tweezers to pick up the tiny parts. Love how you used your leftover items on other projects. You should have had enough resin in first project to complete the whole thing! My guess is if you are using the entire amount of resin and it is not coming out, maybe turning it upside down and putting a large pinhole in the bottom would work? You'd then have to have something to set it down on to keep it turned upside down while working with it to avoid leaks.

OH MY GOD THEY'RE SO SO CUTE
Jackie! I had the same problem with the hot chocolates!! I used spare resin from other kits just to get enough to finish it >
Y'all I can't wait for my calendar coming in the mail
There's a special ELF one as well its the spaghetti breakfast i would love to see you do it ❤
Too bad about the Hot Chocolate, but the antics with getting the gumdrops in place had me chuckling. Gumdrops just didn't want to behave and frankly that happens to me EVERY TIME I put a Gingerbread House together. 😅
I REMEMBER that goomba ginger bred house..I was like WOW Jackey!!😻
I would love if you could make another ginger house video.
I always laugh when I watch your video ❤
P.S. I love your shirt lol
Cute gingerbread house!! 🏠
This looks so cool
Today Jackie taught me the gingerbread house resin came with a nozzle 😂 when I opened mine I actually didn’t get one so used the knife to spread my resin around haha
