Stop whistle training must be methodical and not rushed. It is not just about your whistle. How you behave when your dog is free will have a great effect on the result.

Just amazing !
First time when i see an DK trained differently than the german style .
Congratulations !
Some dogs are much more responsive than others and if they are sensitivite to a firm voice that is a great help. The main thing is not to accept a poor response otherwise you are teaching your dog that it can ignore you 🙄
Such a great breed!! couldn't imagine life without one of these guys(or girl lol)around!!
What a wonderful GSP!
She is truly a great character, wilful but adores her family 😁
@@AyteeGSPs I love GSPs. My breed of choice. I think they all awake in the morning and say to themselves, "how can I manipulate my pet human today?" ❤ They are wonderful rascals! It's what makes them special.

Carrot the cutie 😊
Hi. I have an EP and she's good to commands in a field but when distracted by other dogs its as if she's deaf to my whistle/commands. She will eventually come back but it's the initial stopping her from going that's the issue. She's 11month and wonder how to combat this before the elastic stretches as you so elegantly put it. 🙏
Early training when a pup is very impressionable is the time to start stop whistle training. They must not be allowed to ignore the whistle, at any stage - otherwise they learn that they can. You will have to use longlines and confined spaces to address this problem now and I would not recommend giving her freedom in a situation where you cannot correct her straightaway. Good luck it is an eternal problem with hunting dogs !
Are these easy to train as gundog ??
Hi Lucie. As you mention in the video if Carrat were to be slow to react to your stop whistle or wander around prior to stopping and sitting she’d get a correction from you. What kind are you referring to? As in what would you do?
My 10 month Archie has his moments where he’ll keep sniffing and taking a pace or two before stopping and sniffing and I’d like to ensure know that it means stop NOW! Thanks!
what did you name her carrot ?
Hi Kyle !
Ancestors, Dazzle, Ruby, Diamond - she's Carat with a K ! Its easy to call and different from our other dog names , she's from our K litter. Hope you enjoyed them, L
