  • The film reconstructs the story of the January 1964 rescue by the RNLI Longhope lifeboat of the crew of the trawler Ben Barvas from Little Skerry. The Skerries, a group of four uninhabited islands lying in the Pentland Firth, northeast of Duncansby Head and south of South Ronaldsay in Scotland.

The Pentland Firth is supposed to be one of the five wildest pieces of water in the World. I only ever had one really bad crossing on the Groats ferry when it was a converted fishing boat.

Thanks. Decided it was time the site needed some tlc, better branding rejoining some vids back into one whole film and trying to improve the sound quality on some of them.

The Cox'n on the Ben Barvas rescue, Dan Kirkpatrick, and his entire crew subsequently lost their lives in the Longhope Lifeboat Disaster of 17 March 1969.

Sorry I cannot stop them. I hate them as well. The only solution is to install Adblock on all your devices. Best £10 a year I spend!
