Bring in Cassell as HC and JJ as an assistant if he would go for that. You get the guy who has a good rep for player development in Sam plus a guy that clearly will gameplan tirelessly in JJ. Both of those guys are well respected and seem like they can command a locker room. Cassell has deserved a job for a while, and JJ gets his foot in the door and can use that experience to springboard into a HC job later. They don't need one guy who can do all of those things they want. They need a staff who can collectively do all those things.

Sam Cassell would be okay. But James Borrego would be a terrible fit for the Lakers. The Lakers should go after more well rounded coaches like David Adelman, Chris Quinn, Micah Nori, or Sean Sweeney. Adelman is my favorite.

If the Lakers hire JJ as HC they deserve everything they get next year. Whether that be a championship (which I highly doubt) or missing the playoffs entirely (which is what I would expect). Someone mentioned hire Sam Cassell as HC and have JJ and Rondo as assistants. Now that I'm 110% onboard with. I like them reaching out to Coach "K" as an advisor. Hopefully the Duke connection to JJ doesn't become a focal point. Just because someone played for Coach "K" doesn't mean they themselves can coach LOL.

JJ is intriguing though , with his league experience as a player , being a career 41% 3pt shooter , he might be able to help our shooters improve , and the fact that he seems to know what works and doesn't as far as X's and O's go. ( strictly based on mind the game PC , so just a sample size ) and he seems to be liked around the league by the players. My concern would be his staff , because they would need to be top tier to make up for his lack of experience.

Clippers has the richest owner, the Lakers use to be the richest in the 80s, now they are at the bottom. JEANIE, TIME TO SELL THE LAKERS ASAP. You can't financially compete, that's why you hire rookie coaches with zero head coaching experiences; they're the ones you can afford.

  • @bryanchrisjoseph5526

    1st choice
    T. Lue is the optimal candidate. Lakers have to strategize to somewhat put a lil pressure on Lue if he wants the Laker job & another opportunity to coach LeBron. How does one do that? Well you publicize that you're moving forward. Now Lue knows if i want this opportunity, i have to make a decision.
    2nd choice
JJ Red. Mainly because his Lebron ties & attention to detail which could translate to player development. Remember, any coach that loses the star player attention, it's a wrap.
    3rd choice
Sam Cassell. I like Sam. He was a point guard. A cerebral point guard who commanded the team & ran offense. He played a role in Houston winning those 2 championships. He wasn't just going along for the ride. He definitely will have player respect. Knows X's O's. Only reason i have him at 3 is because of the LeBron card that JJ holds. Like it or not, LeBron still have a ton of influence lol
