I agree and it's one of the things that make Jack Nicklaus great. His team are on the brink of their first ever home defeat - and on his course - yet he still has the time and good grace to congratulate Darcy on his win. Class.
Amazingly, Darcy didn’t know Crenshaw had broken his putter until after the round. He thought Crenshaw was putting with irons to try to slow the ball down on the lightning-fast greens.
Fit of rage I suppose, in the middle of his front nine. From what I have read, Crenshaw later said that the putter shaft had been rusting on the inside so it didn't take an awful lot of force to break it.

Well done, Eamonn. You did it!! Ireland and Europe salutes you.
Love the picture at the end of the Golden Bear with his arm around Eamonn Darcy. I think he knew then that the Ryder Cup was lost.

Sure did ..Eamonn is a family friend and he told me Jack said to embrace the moment and never forget it.

I did not see this match. How did Ben break his putter? An accident, or did he break Little Ben himself in a fit of rage?
