Hey Matt, I'm glad that you left the choke on it. It helps the rifle/shotty keep it's full utility even if you don't plan to shoot it any time soon. Came out looking sharp!
Wow, my dad bought one of those for me in the mid 60's for my first shotgun. He let me pick out what I wanted, $49.95 and got a case thrown in. Not very long and the stock split, sent it back to Mossberg and they sent a new one. Got a lot of Dove and a few Pheasant's with that gun. Good times hunting with my dad and brother.
was given one in 1972, redid the stock, still sits in the gun pile.........great gun. Fun, simple shot gun with a clip. worth way more than what you can buy them for in my opinion.........cheers.
WOW! That is actually a very nice and clean older classic!! That turned out quite nice. Good job brother!! And I’m glad you kept that Accu-Choke. You just don’t see those anymore. I had one a LONG time ago on an older Mossberg (it was stamped something else from Montgomery Ward but it was “their” version made for them by MW) 500…. And it was a love hate relationship. I loved how handy it was to go from slugs in the modified choke right to BB with a full choke for geese!! I just was vain and “hated” how it looked as a younger hunter… I wanted it to look like the latest and greatest (at that time for my price range), LOL!!
My first big boy shotgun was a ivory Johnson 16 Guage with a polly chock on it. My dad had it nickel plated and and a couple more threads added to the chock. It would cut a groundhog in two but it would kick your gizzard out to do it!
It looks good, I have one in 410. I think the choke is really cool, glad you didn’t cut it.
I have a 183D-B in 410. Very similar but mine has an internal 3rd mag and 3" chamber.
I have one of these. Got it at 13. I am 59. My bolt has been messed up for a long time. When bolt is in reload position, it will rotate freely. It should lock in position when reloading a shell. Everything else on it works fine. No rust, the blueing has held up very well.
Looks really good man. Good job!
That is a very nice find, love it
Looks good 👍 thanks for sharing, now I want 😀 an older 20ga just because!
Nice Work Mr.
Looks good Matt. My Grandfather had one in 12ga with the polychoke. Fyi DO NOT shoot slugs with it tho. The cylinder bore setting is still slightly choked and will rip off the polychoke or worse. Its a buck/birdshot gun only but a blast to shoot. If you are inclined take it out skeet shooting sometime, its a challenge but fun with that gun.
I have fired slugs out of my 385kb (20ga) with the choke set to Improved Cylinder and have had no issues. I use Winchester 3/4oz rifled hollow point deer slugs, whenever I decide to fire some slugs from it that is. That being said, I use this gun almost strictly for bird and small game hunting, which it is great for.
I think I got something similar from a Sears catalog.
Did you say you put a scope on a similar rifle?
I have a 20 gauge 385KB and wondering if scoping this is possible
Sorry Sir lost me when you was talking about cutting the barrel.
Hola amigó donde conseguiste la plástico de la culata
Has anyone made an extended mag for these if so let me know
I have a Revelation 16ga. that looks exactly like that one except it is full choke and the wood has a reddish brown finish. I think the Mossberg version is a 395.
My nephew was amazed that Sears Roebuck & Co would sell guns up until 1968 to anyone who had the cash without a background check.
I'm amazed that crime was so much lower even with far more easily available firearms.
I cringe at the thought of steaming out dings in a wooden stock.
Those are that gun's history:"Yeah my grandmother got her first deer with this gun & was so emotional that she dropped it & scratched it up..."
I don't think Mossberg ever made more than the two round mags. I didn't have any luck finding anything aftermarket, but if you find something, please reply. I'm looking.
Have you found anything?
@@tristanfreeman4296 nothin yet. At this time, I'm still in possession of two 2-round mags. Makes me wish I had a 3D printer and some time to play with it.
I like older guns like that. And you never see them. Pretty unique for what you see. I've gotta get some of that oil. Is it spelled "true" or "trew" for some reason? Heard you talking about it when using it on other stuff but never seen any in the wild. Anyhoo, turned out nice. 🐍🇺🇸
Personally I would hate to see that shotgun "cut down". Its good like that. No reason to do it. Would ruin it actually on my opinion. 🐍🇺🇸
anyone know where I can find the choke? I just purchased one of these it does not have the choke on it, it was different and unique $149 bucks
Pretty sure the choke adds value to the gun. Not that its a big deal but a friend of mine has a 12ga they the appraiser added $100 to the gun because of the choke
how do you get the bolt out? anyone know
open the bolt. Hold down the trigger. Remove bolt
Those chokes are called polychokes.
Seems like all your videos cap at 480p
Beautiful turkey shotgun. Do not cut if.
İyi akşamlar bende bir arkadaştan bu tüfeği almayı düşünüyorum türk parası ile ne kadara almayı
Please don’t butcher the barrel, this is the kind of gun you would use to shoot pigeons from a hide under a roost tree.
These are bird guns. 2 shot mags are the limit to keep it hunting legal.
But can I own a larger mag for the range ?
@@tristanfreeman4296 depending on state Hunting Laws. For practical use you have to build it or make it out of two or more.
I just traded one for an 1187
