Polymer Clay Faux Technique: Faux Dragon Vein Agate Tutorial
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 11 фев 2025
- In this tutorial I’ll be showing how to make faux Dragon Vein Agate cabochons. We will be using a faux agate sheet and a crackle cane to achieve the result, and all you will need is some white and translucent polymer clay, and a couple of alcohol inks.
Dragon Vein Agate comes in many different forms and I'll be showing how to imitate a few different ones in this tutorial. There are endless possibilities to mess around with once you have the base sheet and cane, so this is a tutorial you can really have fun with.

Sincerely Samantha Burroughs.
Beautiful pieces, definitely going to make this!
Such a great tutorial Samantha. The cabochons are so beautiful - they don't need to be made into anything as they are lovely little works of art for display. Thank you.
This is a really nice look. I can't wait to try it. I love how you do your pieces in translucent and colors. That gives a variety of choices.
Hi Sam! Ruthie in New York State USA here. I have a helpful tip for you! I remember you said you dislike working with gloves. I noticed your gloves are too big for you. I worked in the operating room and although they are expensive, if you buy small-medium “surgical gloves”, they are tight like a second skin and are easier to work with if it’s necessary. They come in different formulas for people allergic to various kinds. They are great and worth the price and could be used again for paints n inks! Great video thanx for sharing the dragon idea. 😉😊👍
Thank you so much. Yes. I have such tiny hands. Lol. I'll check those out.
Yes. In cosmetology school I had to buy my own gloves because the ones provided for us were too big. Made a total difference.
Such beautiful results, Samantha! Love the varying layers of translucency. The crackle cane is gorgeous, kinda like a softly colored lace or bubble cane. My mind is swimming with ideas!! Thanks for demonstrating this technique in your usual friendly and professional style...you are so very impressive and inspiring.
Even your scraps are beautiful!
That was great Sam.
I love this! Those brown like ones you showed towards the end, I really liked those too! Thanks!!
These are beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Debbie's tutorial with the liquid Kato is great. Thanks for that info as well.
Stunning!! Your videos are so clear and well done!
I agree I love the blue an green ones the best!! Great job!!
Beautiful, as always!
I really like this finished look. A must try.
I think it looks like the real thing 💜💙💚❤
You are my go to person. I have learned so much frim you... thankyou
Really luv ur cabachons they turned out reslly luvly thank u for ur great vieo👍💖
Love the tutorial. Can’t wait to try it!
Unfortunately the sound of the blade against the tile kept inducing migraines for me, which is a real shame because I really wanted to see it all the way through and couldn’t. perhaps some wax paper or a different cutting surface would reduce that??? If so, I would love to see more videos like this from you.
Thanks for all your hard work in making this video and sharing your talent with us!
You made this sooooo understandable. I’ll be trying it soon. Just have to get the alcohol inks.....
Fantastic idea
I've been your videos since last night 😆
I need some advice I want to create a Brownzite stone What would you recommend the colors I should use?
Quite a long process, but worth it! Just beautiful!
Rachel D
Thank you, Samantha!
I LOVE that Purple!!! Wow, for Purple lovers, that's one to make.
Beautiful!
Gorgeous 🦋
What a lovely crackle cane! Thank you.
May i know how you end up ith glossy shine?
Just only to polish or any lamination has to be applied? Thanks for sharing
I applied translucent liquid clay to the surface and heat gunned it.
Gracias!!! Hermoso!!, es necesario el clay liquid? Muchas gracias!!!
No. It's not absolutely necessary.
Hermosos como siempre!
Do you also use all them waisted little bits that you cut off? Love your videos would love to try this one❤️
Yes. I either make them into natasha beads or matching beads to go with the cabochons.
VERY LOVELY!
I'm seeing this video 2 years after you posted it. I'm curious how you used this set of cabochons. Is there a video showing the use of such cabochons in jewelry?
No. I didn't use these to make jewelry. I ended up selling the cabochons.
@@JessamaTutorials Ok, thanks!
Very cool.
Yay! I’m so happy to see that your video is back up again! I’d be very interested in seeing what you do with these :)
These are just beautiful! Can't wait to try this technique. Thank you so much for sharing.
Very pretty! You have been a real inspiration for me. I don't use too many different methods and techniques but I change up the colors a lot and have made some pieces that I'm very happy with!
Lovely and very good tutorial. Do you always color all of your clay yourself
No. I color clay with the alcohol inks when I want colored translucent clay. The alcohol inks are translucent and so don't effect the translucent effect of the clay.
beautiful..are you gonna make something with these?
Thank you. I'm not going to make anything with these as I've sold the cabochons. :D
Can I get the same result with non-alcohol ink?
I'm not sure. You'll need to try it out.
This was lovely and super informative! Thank you!
Love this. Can you tell me where you het that mold?
I got it from here. polymerclay.com.au/index.php?route=product/search&search=cabochon%20mold&description=true
Thank you for this tutorial. I especially appreciate it because dragon vein agate is a mystery (ahem, fake) stone in itself. And yet, I like it. So the idea of making an admittedly faux fake stone appeals to my sense of humor. 😋 Thanks.
Thank you Samantha for another informative video 👍🏻❤️
What’s the point of the lined one if you use the dotted one?
The dotted sheet is translucent and when baked you'll be able to see the lines through the dots like a crackle.
Great Samantha, finally u won 👏🏽
Where did you purchase your cabochon mold from Samantha?
I got it from here. polymerclay.com.au/index.php?route=product/search&search=cabochon%20mold&description=true
Très intéressante technique! Merci pour le partage !
Sooo gorgeous
You are fantastic! I love it !!!!! := )
I am absolutely loving this tutorial. Especially the cab on the left when you mention doing veins in black. Would love to know what color inks you used on that one.
I used Adirondack Bottle, Botanical and Clover.
@@JessamaTutorials Thank you!!! Cant wait to try it
When I tried this I had zero scraps available so I had to use a real rock in the center
It felt like it was slightly more realistic
Would love to see what you made with these?
If and when I do do something with this I will post a tutorial on it.
Did you bake the liquid clay or use heat gun?
I use a heat gun.
First gloves no ink on you and at the end, no gloves hands blue LOL
I don't understand why you make the beautiful wavy sheets if you are going to cover them up with the other pattern
Because the other pattern is partially translucent and allows the underneath pattern to show through.
