I totally wasn’t expecting Matt Cardona to show up. Him facing off against his old mentor Adam is a long time coming
What a brilliant move to bring Matt Cardona in for this match. Its hard to believe that he started off as a Edgehead during Copelands reign as World Champion in 2008. He was a bag carrier, a crony to the tallest order where it looked like he would never be anything more. You could just see the pride in Copelands face to see just how far Matt Cardona has come in his career. Betting on himself the entire way. Everything about this was absolutely tremendous

Matt deserves that pop so damn much and the look on his face says it all. After first showing up in AEW during THAT period, it's good to finally hear the crowd reaction to him showing up.

This is what Copelands open challenges should be. Random people in the world of wrestling where it's like "holy shit this guy showed up". We know the chances of these guys winning are super minimal but if he builds a resume of defenses and they sign a guy they can have that person come in and win similar to when Owens beat Cena out of nowhere.
