one of the reasons why I like this show is because everyone's an archetype at the beginning, because Devi sees them as such. Devi starts out pretty selfish, as lot of teen girls are, and she has a lot of room to grow. As the show progresses, Devi becomes more mature and starts seeing people as more than just side characters in her own story.
Spoiler: I don’t think being a little selfish excuses the way Devi treats her friends and others towards the beginning of the series. The way she behaves in S2 was inexcusable but people constantly use the apparently it’s “really relatable” to screw with peoples emotions and mistreat your friends.
@@panashe5268no one excused any of her actions tbh most of us just think that it’s realistic that she makes mistakes. At least she changes and accepts her mistakes later on
@@panashe5268No one excuses her actions. They simply relate to them. That's what was so appealing about this show, no person was morally good or bad, just like teenagers. There's nuance to everyone and they all show growth, we were all a little selfish at that age we all did bad things and 9/10 people called us out on it. And Devis friends called her out on her shit too when it counted. If Devi started out at a goodie two shoes and stayed that way the whole show it would have been boring and it's message would have been pointless.
@@panashe5268I don't think anyone ever said Devi's character is to be excused for her terrible behaviour. Her character was designed to be a terrible teenager who is handling her grief horribly. Who says characters have to be good? Nobody's perfect in real life.
@@panashe5268 Literally no one excuses her actions. Its just refreshing seeing an antihero as a main character whose evil side isn't trying to snap half the universe away.
I know the show starts out feeling very stereotypical and dramatic at first but as it progresses it has so much heart. The show started and ended when i started and finished high school and was really comforting for me. But even without that bias it genuinely gets so good. Just stick with it
The reality and the beauty of Never Have I Ever is that almost every character look like an archetype at the beginning because Devi sees them like this, it's her world . For exemple, Paxton is stuck in her head like this amazing heartthrob without flaws, she doesn't see him as more than that. And despite the fact that sje still love her friends, she sees them as losers who needs to change. But more the show goes on, the more we get to see them as who they really are and they are really good character on their own. Also, Devi's developpement on the show is one of the greatest I seen on television.
Books are considered holy in Hinduism, as they are kind of seen like extensions of the Goddess of Wisdom. You generally don't put them on the floor or touch them with your feet as a respect thing.
theres something so chaotically and unironically good about this show like I may not love devis character but there's something to "feel-good" about this show. i think its the mix of color grading and music and crazy characters idk LMFAOOO edit: I commented that before the video but I wanna add, I really like that everyone seems like a caricature
Yeah the actor who plays Devi dad is one of the most beautiful men on earth. You have to see him in his younger days on this show called Heroes omg he's so fine 😩😩
I mean it's not hard drugs, but there is an association between the god Shiva and weed specifically. There's also a Hindu festival called Holi where it's pretty common to have this drink called bhaang, which has cannabis in it, so it's basically an edible.
“Facing history and ourselves” is legit a class I took in high school. We ended the year with a trip to Eastern Europe and visited concentration camps.
Omg the dad was in the show Heroes! He played Mohinder in that show😊. And he is 50 but he doesn’t look it lol. And the therapist was in the Jeffery Dahmer Monster series she played the neighbour.
As an Indian guy, your reaction to this show is so fun and interesting. I like seeing thoughts of outside people of different cultural background... I want more reactions, pls ... 😊❤❤ Also I like your honest reaction, it's fun..
I'm gonna be random and suggest Bridgerton, just because I watched it all for the first time this week and loved it. (personally the second season is my favorite)
not zayn on every dating app 💀I can't escape him even for my lunch break... anyways free promo is always welcome, his new album Room Under The Stairs dropped like a month ago. give it a listen if you'd like, in the words of the man himself "you'e not forced to of course" *fingerguns*
I love this show❤ Never have I ever is a comedy drama unlike Ginny&Georgia ,so there will be comedy elements for sure. Devi is a person of color and trying to fit in a whole different country that has no enriching culture or traditions. Having that pressure and on top of that, losing her father at an younge age definitely can fuck up the mind. She is definitely a walking red flag but I love her character developement at the end.

OMG I was obsessed with this show when it first came out, up until it ended not long ago! Please continue watching this series!
Lol, at 15:52 she was reading After, so we already know her concept of what type of a relationship she wants is a little insane🤣

Genuinely forgot "on fleek" was a thing. Slang has changed so much over the years thanks to social media
Eyebrows on fleek
