I've used this knot for years. It is my favourite to attach a ridgeline or cord to something at the first tie off. Your video is the best breakdown and explanation of this knot I've seen. Well done!!!

Thanks for your tutorial of this quite simple and very useful knot. As a boy I always wondered how the cowboys in Western movies so quickly attached their horses in front of the saloon. Now, half a century later you taught me. 😀 Kind regards from Alsace, France. Christian.

It's a falconers knot, with a little practice you can tie it with one hand(your falcon is on your other hand) Falconers have been using it for thousands of years.

I greatly appreciate how you don't just show how to tie the knot, but you discuss the why and ideas to break down the knot for a better understanding of how to tie it and understand what you're doing. Thanks!

I was looking for a quick release hitch that doesn't roll under under load. Your demonstration and analysis of the hitch is phenomenal, and I appreciate the young man closing. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, you made the slipknot even easier for me. Before it was an overhand knot with an extended bight out the side. And the figure 8 was easier explained than in an old issue of Boy's Life. Amazing!

Brilliant explanation, thanks very much. In all the other videos I saw they gloss over the fact that you're supposed to put the bight through the loop rather than the whole tail end. I'm sure it's obvious to a lot of people but when someone does it quickly without properly explaining, it's hard to see exactly what they're doing.

It does help me to lean knot basics and work my way up. At least then I am more likely to understand the knots I am trying to create. Thus if I forget the knot or a particular method, I can usually figure it out after a few tries.

Thanks for the video. To this day, I tried to make the reindeer go around the tree and through the final loop with the end of the rope fixed to him. This video finally saves me from doing it again.

Beautifully explained! Notice how the amateurs "show-off" with speed and slight of hand, leaving you baffled. Well Climbing Bushcrafter is not like that. He cares about helping you understand and acquire the skills you need. Excellent instruction.

Question: when I pull the Siberian Hitch tight against the tree/pole by the standing end, the knot slips a little bit. It stays tied and seems to be able to bear weight though. Why could that happen, and is that okay?
