Such a spectacularly beautiful temple! I am so happy to see a temple built in Tallahassee. My husband and I lived there for 6 years during graduate school, and I deeply love the people that will get to worship in this temple, some of my dearest friends! Congratulations to you all! Many sweet memories of long drives to Orlando to serve in the temple there -- riding on a bus with our stake and my toddler falling asleep in another member's arms. Now to have one right there by the Thomasville Rd. chapel -- it's amazing!
I'm immensely grateful to finally see a temple in one of the cities I served as a missionary from 2017 - 2019. I served in the ward in that building across the street, and knowing that temple will be seen by everyone driving down Thomasville road fills me with great joy. For all the difficult times I had on my mission, it is very comforting to see such a physical symbol of the strength of the church in Florida. I hope it blesses the lives of members in the panhandle for many years to come.
I love that temples are displaying new and original works of art. It really enhances the space and encourages deeper studies of the Savior and how we depend on Jesus Christ for our salvation.
Looking into those mirrors you can see for an eternity. That should be our goal each and every day, reflecting on our actions each day and have we made someone’s life better. A beautiful House of the Lord, wish that one day I might be able to attend.
I am so very excited to start working through the Tallahassee Temple what a blessing it is that I will be able to go at least once a month now thank you
When I first started reading your comment, I thought you said another temple in your 'stake'. My first thoughts were wait, I thought I saw this was in FL, not UT, where their temples are so plentiful, they're like 7/11s on every corner 😂. Then it was just well I guess the church is growing fast in FL if they're putting 2 temples in one stake. 😊. Congrats on getting another temple! ❤️
Rejoice, O my heart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the ROCK OF MY SALVATION.
My Mormon friend said there are no crosses in or on LDS temples, like there are Christian churches. He said it is. Or faith alone in the work of the Savior on the cross, but that we have to do works to assure our salvation. Is this true?
Hi, thanks for your question. We recognize the symbol of the cross is used in many Christian churches as a symbol of the Savior’s death and Resurrection and as a sincere expression of faith. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we also remember with reverence the suffering of the Savior. But because the Savior lives, we do not use the symbol of His death as the symbol of our faith. We believe that the way we live our lives should demonstrate and be an expression of our faith and love for Jesus Christ. After doing the ordinances in the Temple, your actions and thoughts outside the Temple will determine your destiny in the next life.
I lived in the same neighborhood that this temple sits outside of. A bit surreal.
Hurrah for Israel! Hosannah!
