Instead of adding some oil to the hummus, you can use the juice from the gabanzo beans. I managed a salad bar and we made tons of hummus! This tip saves calories and money since olive oil is so expensive. Mix all the other ingredients together, then add the juice a little at a time until it's a consistency that you want.
Great tip, thank you!
When making hummus in food processor add an ice cube while processing to help keep it cool and it will turn out very smooth. I usually add 3-4 per batch
I don't live near a Trader Joe's and have to admit that when watching the various hauls that several people do on YT, I began to wonder if the store has regular fruit, produce and meat. Most people simple focus on the various snacks, frozen entrees and beverages. So thank you for showing real food.
Thanks for the Parmesan cheese recommendation! It’s always good to hear what you, Tim, and Benson like at Trader Joe’s. I love the frequent recommendations and hauls on this channel, especially the fact that you shop at a variety of places.
I love making my own hummus, but I’m also lucky to live near a Middle Eastern restaurant/store that makes its own hummus and pita. The hummus is super fresh and the packages of pita are almost always still warm!
you probably already know this, but a tasty "three ingredient soup" can be made quickly by using a box or two of tomato or tomato and basil (any of the boxed tomato soups), and the frozen chimichurri rice, and black beans! Put all together in a soup pot and... heat... and.... ENJOY!
The olive oil from the kalamata olives would probably good in a vinaigrette.
Or homemade hummus.
If you find that you enjoy making your own hummus, I highly recommended buying your next jar of tahini elsewhere. The TJs tahini is thick and cloggy; the best tahini is silky and runny (like the TJ raw almond butter consistency). The best are Middle Eastern brands but Soom is also quite good 😊
I make my own hummus and use the Joyva brand of tahini. Love it!
You can always do an Aldi and TJ tastings. It would also be fun for you to share one of your cooked recipes, like the zucchini boats, hummus, or what you made with the lentils. 🍽
I wanted to mention to avoid arsenic in rice buy rice labeled as from either California or overseas like India. The southern US has higher arsenic in the soil - but whenever I’ve looked at bags of rice that are products of US they only say “US” unless it’s from California (like Lundberg has great rice - I haven’t looked recently but at Costco have gotten I think 10 lb bags Lundberg short grain brown rice from California- I put in freezer zip lock bags and freeze since brown rice doesn’t have as long of shelf life)
YES
I’ll give the park a try. Thanks for talking about it!
The adult beverages all look interesting, and I love that Trader Joe's bottle. Whatever you do for the taste test, I'm sure it will be fun. See you there!
Enjoy your oat creamer if you love it! I’m all for eating healthily/fewer processed foods and try to do so myself. However, having little daily joys is also important, and oat milk creamer seems like a pretty tame vice!
Thank you so much for sharing.❤
Surprises from my last TJ's shopping trip: the Potato Salad & Chili Lime Chicken Breast. Both better than I was expecting, and I expect TJ's products to be good if not great. The chicken was a tad spicier than I prefer, but very tender & moist. And that tater salad was better than I remember.
Excited for the adult bevvies!
If you like a little spice, try your homemade hummus with a dollop of Crunchy Chili Onion!
You're right! This is really good!✌️❤️
Use premier protein shake as your creamer...many flavors
We got the potato salad in NYC! I never tried the old one but I enjoyed this one! I hope you get it soon.
I hope so too!
Speaking of trying alcoholic beverages in the taste test, one of your older videos popped up on my page yesterday and boy did I laugh so much!!! You all were trying drinks and you hadn't eaten anything! It was hilarious!!! So just remember to eat something first! 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
My TJ’s has always had the chili lime chicken. They just changed the packaging
I know it’s a lot more work, but using dried garbanzo beans is an absolute game changer for homemade hummus and it’s the authentic way! ❤
Hi Katie! Love this haul! I did not know about the arsenic in rice. I will have to buy that new olive oil. Have a good weekend!😊
Thanks for all your videos! I’m going to get a few of the premade cocktails 🍸 to put in my adult kid’s Christmas stockings. They will be perfect size. Also going to try your zucchini boats. Sounds delicious!
I’ve been buying massive amounts of the little tomatoes as well. Yes, the olives, wish they would bring back the ones in the packages now, it seems like it’s been several years since they’ve had them. The zucchini boats you made look really good. Will be waiting for the taste test.
I love the chimichurri rice in the tomato/roasted red pepper soup or the black bean soup. Yummy!
Yes, and add fresh baby spinach to the soup/rice!
Thx for the idea!!
Katie, I can't recall whether or not you eat tofu. I havent noticed it in any recent hauls.
If anyone has a savory tofu dish recommendation, I'm in search. I bored with a bake, scramble and veggie stir-fry. Any fun ideas... I welcome them!🎉
Hi! You can actually make your own creamer! Cashew cream. Just raw cashews, water, Medjool dates or sweetener of choice, vanilla, and salt. There are measurements, however, you blend it all until super creamy and not grainy, then pour into a glass jar with a lid. ❤
Sounds delicious!✌️❤️
Just noticed your terrific name! Dogs thrive on it!🫶🐶💜
@@barbowens8626 💖💖😊
Homemade hummus is life changing lol. Drizzle ice cold water in to the food processor while it’s running & it will make it fluffy & smooth like mousse. Deeeeeelicious.
The betta' feta??? 😂😂😂
I went to TJ’s earlier today too.
Hint: store cucumbers at room temp. Also, check out Stanley Tucci's zucchini pasta! You will love it. I promise.
Get a soda stream and carbonate your own !
Oh, those Strawberry and Watermelon drinks, YUMMY! I don't even like sparkling water. I picked up the Banana Pudding Ice Cream this week and wow, it was good too.
Hello Katie, maybe you can cook a recipe that you want to pair with the wine or cocktails, and do a sort of combo cook with me, watch me cook, taste test, wine pairing type of video? It really doesn't matter, I'll watch whatever you do
Hi!! Have you tried Nutpods? I love the plain flavor it gets so frothy and some of the flavors like Cinnabon and marshmallow is really good and no sugar clean ingredients I think you will love it! I used to love the Trader Joe’s coconut creamer but I don’t get to Trader Joe’s much! 😔
Hendricks is my favourite gin
No alcohol only beer in my state. 😢 I’ve made hummus with TJ ingredients and it’s delicious.
Katie, have you ever had Israeli olive oil? Fabulous 👌
Ironically, I just made hummus. I also added roasted red peppers. I saw a comment re sun dried tomatoes. Sounds yummy. You can also make it without tahini. I'd have to do a taste test. Also peanut butter in a pinch. Saves money. I like the comment about not using olive oil in it. They drizzle over the top. I used cans and definitely put in water and take skins off. So, my next batch will be sans olive oil and tahini. $$ saved if it's good.
Can you share the spicy mango lemonade margarita recipe?
ALDIS has great produce prices and their frozen strawberries are the best
Love your Trader Joe hauls. If you happen to see Mochi cake mix back in the stores could you let us know. I’m not close to a store but will go if it’s back. Thanks😁
I still haven’t seen it at my store. I don’t know where you live but I would call your store and see if they got it in. I would hate for you to miss out.
@@KatieHespe I live in British Columbia, but cross the border into Washington. ( Bellingham store) I have called them but I don’t want to be bugging them all the time. They said maybe after all the ubi. Just if you happen to see it. 😁
What did you stuff the zucchini boats with?
Have you heard of the Trader Joe’s Reserve Rasteau? It’s a red blend from the southern Rhône valley. I saw a Master of Wine review it and he said he was going back to buy more at only $9.99 a bottle. I hope my store gets it!
I have not heard of that. I need to look for it next time now.
A friend of mine boils her chickpeas so the skins come off. This makes for a much smoother hummus. I don't particularly care for hummus to have tried it myself, so I can't verify that
Seeing this made me remember I forging go get bananas today. Darn. I’m sure homemade hummus is so much better than store-bought, but I don’t have a food processor. I also don’t have the energy to do it.
You can make it in a blender instead of a food processor.
@@tammybozza4703 Thanks so much
I prefer the Sprouts Organic Garbanzo Beans. Trader Joe’s seems tough to me. I also don’t care for the tahini at Trader's as much. I buy both from Sprouts usually. I know you sometimes shop there so maybe you’ll try theirs sometime.
Thanks for the heads up! I will try TJ’s but definitely will pick up both the garbanzo beans and tahini from Sprouts.
Once you taste hokemade hummus, you'll never go bavk to store bougjt. I make several versions. One easy one inckudes using the jarred roadted red peppers from T.J.'s, aling with a couole of spionfuls of the jarred sun dried tomatoes (T.J.'s uses olive oil, in theirs, so that's i buy them there, even though they're pricey. Some items Ill pay extra for, if its a quality product!) Anyway, homemade hummus is great!
The Oatley brand now makes an oat milk called "Super basic" The ingredients are Oat Base (Water, Oats), Sea Salt, Citrus Fiber. You might try using that in your coffee, with a bit of brown sugar or coconut sugar, as a replacement for the Trader Joe's oat milk creamer.
Thanks for the info!
Cucumbers are easy to grow just like zucchini. Whatever you do not want to eat or pickle your chickens will be happy to eat.
I’ve tried growing cucumbers the last 4 years and they never come up. I do have them in my hydroponic garden during summer when the seedlings become available. I love growing zucchini. Finally the season is almost here to start growing.
@@KatieHespe You may have them in a place too sunny.
I have always wanted to try my own hummus! I hate the pre packaged stuff it tastes so fake to me!
You should do video like chopped style where Tim or Benson pick out a few ingredients and you find a meal to make !
Fun idea!
How come new products Haven’t been coming out?
I follow you on IG, but I don’t see your dinner recipes. Do you have a2 IG’s?
I post them in my stories every day. They expire after 24 hours. I’ll try and create a tab for the old ones so you can watch.
@@KatieHespe ok thanks, would love to get some dinner inspiration ☺️
Costco’s feta cheese in brine tastes better than Trader Joes, I Think.
I think eating healthy, one would not imbibe with alcohol. If you eat healthy, why ruin it by drinking?
Because we want to..?
@@KatieHespe Yes, everyone to their own choices! Cheers!
WOW. Shame on you!!
