Hi Shelby. My name is Jane, I am 63 and totally blind. Your channel has reignited in me the ‘want’ to cook from scratch. I keep it simple, but your love of family and enthusiasm for food and cooking has me making a vegan curry, corned beef hash and scotch broth soup this \Friday morning in Nottingham, England. Bless you, this is RUclips at it’s best. Much loe Jane x
You are truly blessed, to be able to afford a large haul in retirement , I'm wondering would u ever mind doing , how u saved for retirement , what were your careers?, etc. I know this may seem silly, but this inspires me too work harder , so I won't have to struggle in my retirement years?
I keep getting requests to answer this question. Although Ken and I aren't financial experts by any means, we don't mind sharing what we did. Just know that if we could do it, you can most certainly do it!!! There is a wonderful book called Pay Yourself First that you might find at a local library. We did a lot of those techniques outlined in that book. There is also a financial plan that a lot of people follow called The Dave Ramsey Plan....we didn't have Dave Ramsey when we were starting but basically did what Dave Ramsey advocates. Small changes over time really adds up to BIG results. We will work on making that video for you. Much love Shelby
TheQueensCabinet man...we're 20 years behind. But w/Gods grace and help, I know well have a blessed and well prepared retirement. Thanks for responding back!
IMO, no one has to justify their choices menus, budgets, etc. Prices differ according to region, country. As long as you are paying your own bills and not living off others, it is your choice. Your menus sound wonderful, enjoy.
Thank you for your kind words. Interesting you mentioned how prices differ in parts of the country. When we lived in California produce was affordable, but meat prices were high. In NY produce is expensive but I seem to get great deals on meat. I don't mind sharing, if others can glean anything from me or vice a versa. I just didn't want people to get the impression we shop like this all the time, more like Kimmy from She is In Her Apron how she stocks up on her case lot sales or buys their beef cow. Shelby
Thank you for the kind words. If your still at home, I would encourage you to learn one family recipe a month, help prepare it, and write down the recipe. I wish I had done that before I left home, I didn't know how to boil water. You will be so far ahead of the game and be able to make wonderful family recipes. Much love Shelby

Ah thank you Paula you made my day. Believe it or not I couldn't boil water when Ken and I got married. However, I learned quick as we started having a family. I started by watching the good cooks in our family and then writing down their recipes. Little by little I started building recipes that I could make. If I can do it, Paula you can too. Much love Shelby
I admire how organised you are. I just shop for myself and most of what I eat is repetitive because I only have 1 metre of intestine left, however I cook two meals a week for my parents and I write a list before going to the supermarket. I also tend to buy items that are on special because it's more cost effective. Doing this I find that there is less wastage of food. I actually enjoy planning and cooking meals. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
Amy I have a nephew with hirschsprung disease, he had surgery at Loma Linda and really has to watch his diet too. Your parents are so Blessed that you cook for them. We have a family of ten, and I know when our boys cook dinner it is always a treat. :D Shelby
TheQueensCabinet thank you for replying to my message. I dont know much about Hirschsprung but I do know that the treatment is to remove part or all of the large intestine and that many people don't understand how much work the large bowel does. It's similar to crohns in that the cause is unknown but there is some genetic component. I hope that your nephew is doing well.
AMAZING HAUL! Sometimes everyone gets caught up in the dollar amount instead of realizing that you are just getting what you need for your family! Great haul! Thanks for sharing all of this with us! Love the meal planning! We need to get better at that!
You guys do a fantastic job on your shopping and I love love love how you parent. My two favorite videos is your adoption story....yeas I cried, so beautiful, and the marshmallow blow darts......yes I laughed until I cried. Why am I always crying when I watch your channel, because you are the real deal. Much love Shelby
Shelby, I used to follow your channel years ago, and I'm so happy to have found you again. I just bought some of that shelf stable whipping cream from Trader Joes and I totally thought of you when I found it. I remembered the video you made when you were so excited that you figured out you could make butter with shelf-stalble whipping cream! I tried it the same day I saw your video! I've learned a lot from you. You are one of the best cooks on youtube!
HI Karen Ken and I are both retired now, and are enjoying You Tube as a hobby. Our kids are all in college or have graduated if you can believe that. We moved from California and are now in NY. So many changes in a few years. Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement. Much love Shelby
I love the shelf stable whipping cream! Alfredo is a favorite meal for us, and with the shelf stable cream, it can come together quickly, since we always have parmesan, butter, and pasta on hand.
You must be a hardworking mom! Smart strategy definitely saves the family. But at the same time we also may have to prepare for the time that the stocks of supplies cannot resolve the issues. Having a great alternative plan is also absolutely necessary. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!! 😊😊😊
Stephanie Pierce Thanks for the kind words of encouragement Stephanie. Our family is so large it makes it convenient to stock up and saves us money in the long run. Shelby
I loved watching this. I'm a college kid so the grocery budget is more like $20, but your voice is really sweet and made me miss my mom back at home!! Thanks for sharing
This is my first video I've watched of yours and let me tell you I'm impressed! I'm a mom of 4 under 6 years old and I'm all about stocking up and being prepared. You are amazing keep it up!! I definitely subscribed!!
Keeping a well stalked pantry and freezer is just yet another way2 be frugal 4me it keeps from many small trips with impulse buying keeps me prepared for unseen financial emergencies and really it keeps me creative in the kitchen 2700 sounds like a ton but with a large family and food prices it's really not that shocking I only have1 at home and 1fur baby and my Cosco total last Friday was 485 and b4 I go wishing your king Ken "Kenny"the most wonderful belated Birthday he just seems like such a fun loving man and a great son cause every good boy wants what mom made on there special day much luv 2you and yours
Denise McCormick Denise you really made Ken's day, I showed him your comment and he said to be sure and tell you thank you. I know what you mean about saving money by not taking too many trips to the store. Sometimes I go in for an item and leave with a cart full. Shelby
Great haul, it's nice to stock up and not have to go to the grocery store every week. I'm looking forward to all of your meal plans and your flautas looked so yummy! I make those all year round but I make a ton of them after Thanksgiving with all the turkey leftovers. Happy Belated Birthday to Ken and prayers for your mother. Tfs!
Debra Gabriella Ken said thank you!!! And I want to thank you too, I am always trying to come up with creative ways to use leftover turkey at Thanksgiving. Much love Shelby
Debra Gabriella Deb its kind of like subs, grinders, or hoagies, they're all Italian sandwiches. Ken's fav dinner is taquitos AKA floutas, so good! Shelby
You have made me want to plan meals, and I just have myself! Sorry to hear about your mom, my mom had vascular dementia so I can relate just a tad. Hang in there, you are inspirational!
Awe Tazzy thank you for the encouragement!!!! I know you get what we are all going through, it is such a terrible disease. It is as if you lose them twice. I had a rough day earlier this week when we placed her on hospice, but my kids and Ken have been fabulous. I feel at peace now, and just want to finish this journey with my mom strong. Much love SHelby
Only so much you can do, believe me. My mom did not have Alzheimer's but she went through enough. Hugs to you. New subject, do you recommend a good cookbook for beginners? Or just one of your favorites? I love this haul, I love cheese!
Tazzy I think a great basic cookbook is The Joy of Cooking and if there is a family favorite recipe that you enjoy, try and learn it from the person that makes it the best. It is really nice if the person writes the recipe down for you, then you have a little piece of them in your kitchen each time you cook their dish. Start a recipe binder of tried and true recipes that you master and pretty soon you will have a great collection of your own. Shelby
I want to thank you, you have been my inspiration to take back control of the quality of food I serve my husband....because our budget is so limited and I can't stand to cook for long periods of time ( I love to cook and a while back catered team pennings and a few events) I was just buying cheap junk.... So my hubby thanks you too Meal planning precisely is key.
Thank you Carolyn. I know what you mean about not standing for long periods, I can't do that so I break up cooking into smaller tasks through out the day. I agree meal planning is the key. When I don't meal plan it is a disaster. Shelby
Hope you guys routinely clean your Keurig?? My BF cleaned a discarded one and rinsed it.. it’s working like a champ!!! Loved it!! Look on Google I’m how you clean your Keurig! It worked!! He also was dumpster diving and has a new leather office chair; someone threw out!! It needed 1 screw! He bought 1 and stabilized it... now has an office chair. Is going to buy a chair mat to. It won’t ruin the carpet going in & out!! Has painted an area which is now his office!!
Hey Shelby! I'm studying Biology, hopefully on my way to med school! Funnily, before my nuclear family (my parents + my brother) moved out of our old house, we used to live in a household of ten too! It's typical for Asians (at least my family) to live with our aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents haha. Anyways, HOW DID YOU LEARN TO COOK SO WELL? I'm currently living off campus and I find it so difficult to think up of meal ideas, especially since money is tight and my schedule is hectic.
Cheryl that is beautiful that your family is so close!!! I learned one recipe at a time from family, when I got married I couldn't even boil water. LOL Shelby
TheQueensCabinet lol @ you couldnt boil water. My mom told me i wouldnt find a husband because i couldnt boil water. never heard anyone else with that saying. i call it a saying because of course we all can at least put a pot of water on the stove. now i am happily married , still not the best cook, well i pretty much suck at it to be honest. when you are born into jamaican family you are expected to be chefs lol. i guess this make me less jamaican.
Hubby and I are about to be PCSing with out two boys in the upcoming year! I’m so excited watching this so I have some good ideas of what I need to remember to purchase when we restock our kitchen.
Hi Shelby! What a great haul! There's nothing like being prepared for the next 6 months so good for you and Ken. Btw, happy birthday to your husband and my thoughts and prayers for your Mom. My father had severe dementia and boy that was tough. Have a great week!
Bernadette Ken said to tell you thank you for the birthday wishes. Sorry to hear about your father, dementia is such a horrible disease and takes such a toll on the caregivers. Bless your heart. Shelby
Thanks Shailene. We do a couple of big stock ups a year, we live so far from the city and our weekly grocery trips are mostly fresh fruit/veggies. :D Shelby
Lol OMG !!!! I never saw anything like that .... Wow it's like having a whole grocery store in your house I should be so lucky thanks a lot 👍👍👍 and thanks for getting back to me so quickly
Thrifty thank you for the kind words, our pantry has been 30 years in the making. When Ken and I were first married we had 17 dollars left over from paying our bills to spend on groceries. We made bean tostadas with all the fixings, but after a day or two there wasn't any cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato left.....just beans and tortillas. We ate it for breakfast lunch and dinner for two weeks straight and were thankful. After that time, I tried to add a little bit to my pantry as I could afford. It took awhile with couponing and putting away sale items but my pantry slowly grew. Today Ken and I budget 40 dollars per person per week for groceries, house hold items, personal care items and eating out. I save any money I have left over each week to do two big hauls a year to restock the pantry. I don't know how young families get ahead these days because everything is so expensive. Shelby
Wow wonderful grocery haul, I'm dreaming of what I would eat first, you have so much variety in the US, I live in New Zealand which is a small country with just over 4 million people we have 3 main grocery stores in Auckland city where I live, I'm really enjoying your channel I just watched your pantry tour you have my dream kitchen it's beautiful. Have a lovely day😊
Pebbles thank you. I watch a channel here on You Tube called A Thousand Words, it is a lady from New Zealand and I love watching her hauls. hahahahaha I am always shocked how expensive groceries are there, but she has a wonderful garden she has created. New Zealand is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit. Much love Shelby
TheQueensCabinet hi again I just looked up the vlog you follow in NZ I hadn't heard of her before, and yes come to NZ we have a beautiful country and we get a lot of tourists visit from the US, it is expensive to buy food here but I just stock up when things are on sale also us kiwis are good at growing fruit and vegetables so it's not to bad, it's September 1st here so that means it's the 1st day of spring, if ever you visit our summer is at Christmas time. 😊
pebbles taka We had about 3 acres bush hogged today and I have big plans! Ken always says my big plans cause him a lot of work. I dream of a veggie garden, fruit trees, etc so I guess Ken has a lot of work ahead of him hahaha The first step was getting the land cleared. Shelby
This reminds me of how my mom used to shop when we were growing up. She was a single mom of 4 but worked for a great lumber company and was very high up. And now I'm a stay at home mom to a family 5 and I can hardly stomach paying more than $100 in a grocery trip. Puts things into perspective. I just know one thing I cannot get a Sams or Costco membership I would be wayyy to tempted lol. But if you are living within your means than good for you! I only have 3 small kids under 4 so I dont have to worry about cooking big just yet.
Bobbie having children of your own certainly puts a lot of things in perspective. Our oldest asked to talk to me and Ken after he started his first real job after college, he had been working for a week. He said "how did you do it?" We said "Do what?" He said, "you both worked full time jobs, never missed a football game, took me to all my practices, helped with homework, always had a clean house, dinner on the table, Christmas was always magical, every birthday party was fun, you let me have pizza party's every Friday with my football team, saved for my college, gave me a truck on my 16th birthday, took us on vacations, you guys sat in the front row at every awards ceremony, you never missed anything that was important to me, how did you do it?" Ken said, "That is what you do when you have kids." Our son said, "I know but how did you do it all? I am so exhausted after working one week and now that I'm budgeting my own bills, how do you do it financially?" Ken answered, "Mom clipped coupons, worked overtime to stock the pantry and made those pizza's from scratch for your football team parties. We drove the same cars for almost 20 years so we could save for your car. We did a lot of camping so we could take you to the National parks, it is what we could afford but we tried to make it fun. Every paycheck, we saved a little towards your college. But son, it was you that made it easy." Our son cried and then we cried. Bobbie, you have 3 children under 4 and I'm sure you have days that are overwhelming, but know there will be a day when all your hard work, love and dedication to your kids will pay off. We have a household of 10, but Ken managed to retire at 50. If I may offer unsolicited advise, you're young and have time to plan for your retirement....look into the Dave Ramsey Plan. His plan wasn't around when Ken and I started out but it is basically what we did financially. It will be life changing! Now call your mom and tell her you love and appreciate her hahahaha Much Love Shelby OX
I am so jealous of you getting to cook those fabulous menus!! I used to cook when my two kids were home and my husband and I both worked, and I packed lunches for us all and made meal plans, then boom, kids out of house, husband and I retired and almost zero cooking now, he does not eat half of what he used to, I have to have a certain diet so it is such an adjustment for me and I miss it, I still make things occasionally and take to the kids work (they both work for our local police dept) and everyone there will demolish it!!!
Christine it is funny you should mention this, I often think what am I going to do when it is just me and Ken. I won't know how to cook because I am so used to cooking for a small army. I also can relate to you cooking for kids, Ken is retired LE. We once went to one of his work parties, it was a potluck. I made almost 400 egg rolls and had went into the kitchen of our guests home to put the sweet and sour sauce in a serving bowl. By the time I made it to the back yard where the food tables were set up, every egg roll was eaten. I just stood there with the sauce in total disbelief. We still laugh about it. Shelby
Great job on the stock-up, its such a good feeling to know everything stocked and in order for when you need it. Thanks for sharing with us. Happy Birthday to Ken! Prays for your Mom. So happy to hear your getting your new furniture, you have such great taste I'm sure it will be beautiful. Have a great Labor Day with your family, Patty.
P TEBO Ken said thank you Patty. Also thank you regarding my mom, such a horrible disease!!! It is a good feeling to be stocked up. I have been saving for some time for furniture, it's been 30 years since I bought furniture. Lol. Much love Shelby
Holy Smokes! But nothing unreasonable. Wish I could afford all that beef. Could you show your freezer & pantry with all this stuff? Your pantry is so beautiful, I'd love to see how you fit this. Your freezer too.
Laura C Laura I have been meaning to do a freezer tour. Basically I printed a freezer inventory sheet online and I keep track of what I have on hand. Then when I do my meal plan each week I use meats from the freezer that I hopefully got on sale at a good price. Last year we purchased a whole cow, we saved so much money but I remembering thinking holy cow that's a lot of beef..... and now it's almost all gone. Shelby
Jenny M. I restock as I go but even for my big family this is like 5months or more of my budget.. Pricing is different for every1.. What ur willing to pay vs but others may is different.. Now wit that being said I love that's she shared it.. And enjoyed watching her haul..I also lobe waiting everything big family related..
Apple if I may ask, how much do you spend per week for your family? Like you I love learning from other large families, any money saving tips you have I would love to learn. Thanks in advance. I am always looking for ways to save. Ken and I have been budgeting 40 bucks per person a week for groceries, household items, personal care items and any eating out. If I don't spend the total budgeted amount, I save it up for a mega haul or like last year we bought that beef cow. Kind of like cell phone minutes., I just roll it over. This week I only spent 78 dollars because I'm well stocked, so I'll put 322 away to invest in our pantry later. We have a household of ten and our youngest is 6'5". I was able to put enough aside to buy a freezer out of my grocery budget last year and that has help soooo much! Much love Shelby
Wow interesting- so interested that i watched the whole video- going to watch how you are able to store everything in your pantry and freezers etc. Watching grocery hauls interests me for some reason.
Thanks for the kind words. Ken broke ground on his garage the other day and he is putting in a large closet for my long term food storage. Will give tour when he is done. Shelby
wow! Just subscribed! I am impressed! I love to stock up as well and usually do a major restock every time my husband is overseas (military and he leaves about 4 times a year for 1-3 months) meal planning is a must for me. This video gave me new ideas for dinner and inspiration! You are super woman for having that down pat! God Bless
Hi Nessa and welcome to my channel. First of all, I want to say thank you for your husband's service. Ken was active duty and then reserves and I understand the sacrifices you pay. So THANK YOU! I agree meal planning is the key for me too; it helps me shop the sales, create my shopping list, have a plan for dinner etc The weeks I don't meal plan is a complete disaster. We have a great community here and everyone shares their ideas with one another. Shelby
Once I saw the grocery haul was $2700.00 I had to click to see what you bought I love to see what people buy and cook. I honestly think you did great. Not many veggies but you would buy as needed. I work full time 10 hour days and we waste so much money by going to the store everyday for dinner. Your totally is actually lower than what we spend with our impulse buying LOL. All the groceries you bought if they lasted two months you would only have spent 250.00 a week. I think the food would last longer than 2 months. I also minuses out the staples and tj-max haul. I doubt I could get my husband on board for a big haul like that. In reality we would never have $2000.00 available to spend at once. Maybe next year when we get our tax return. I'm a new subbie now :-)
Susan I know what you mean about working long hours and being too tired to cook. I was an RN before I retired and worked long hours. One kind of freezer prep that I enjoyed doing when I was working, was marinating chicken and other meats in different flavored marinades. That way we cooked take one out in the morning, and whoever made it home first would grill it up. We often just had a salad with it. Another thing that really help was when I learned to make freezer pizzas OMGoodness I felt like it was my hidden talent and I can't tell you how much money we saved by doing a bunch of the homemade freezer pizzas having teenage boys. It fast became a Friday night tradition. Here is the link if you are interested. Shelby ruclips.net/video/XLkHJNJfo7c/видео.html
Thank you Araceli! I have a freezer inventory list and I keep it current. When I meal plan each week I use the inventory list to see what I have on hand. The goal is always to buy the proteins at a good price. Sometimes I win, sometimes I loose. Shelby
Shelby- YOWZA! ;-) I can't wait to see your new furniture - yay! Please tell me that your designer is adding a couple of velvet Elvis paintings to your living room 👍
You did a really good job grocery shopping I really enjoyed watching this cause I have only one child to feed and sometimes I get confused cause I just don't want to get him unessacry food he's 20 months old and his father like buying those toddler little meals he buys like 15 of those things which I think is a waste of money in my opinion so im trying to cook more meals but I always keep lunch meat on hand and fruit cups cause its a quick lunch but its so hard for him to eat his vegetables he just like eating chicken fruits and starchy foods but anyways im rambling lol thanks for sharing!!
Jamie you are too cute!!! You are smart to try and cook more, and such a good mom to want the best nutrition for your child. I know veggies can be hard to get little ones to eat, but sneak them in where ever you can. When our boys were little, we would watch bugs bunny cartoons and I'd serve them carrot sticks and tell them Bugs ate carrots. Then I'd give them carrots as a snack with a little ranch dressing or plain. Also, I'd have them help make Ants on a Log, celery with peanut butter and raisins. Yes it was a peanut butter mess hahahaha Ken would come in and say that was one of his favorite snacks and then they would gobble it up to be like their dad. It seems when they help you prepare the food, they are more apt to give it a try. Just don't ever let him hear you say, my kid doesn't like veggies or won't eat veggies....because then it is an uphill battle. Turn it around and model that mom likes veggies. Your influence is P O W E R F U L!!! Love Shelby
TheQueensCabinet Hey Shelby, hope you are doing well today. Sorry I am just getting back to you and yes I have been giving some thought to making a video just not quite ready. I might just do some grocery hauls to build up my confidence😃 Thanks for asking😍
Thank you. We have a household of ten, I'm not going to know how to shop when it is only me and Ken. Thank you for the kind words, the potato salad recipe was my MIL's. Shelby
Thank you Latriise. Keep meal planning it will get easier. I would recommend starting with your sales add for your grocery store, plan your meals around what is on sale and in season. Shelby
It is such a good feeling having food and staples in your pantry. Sometimes the $$$ pinch really hurts, but it sure pays off when you have what you need on hand and don't have to make a lot of unnecessary trips to the store. It really saves a lot of money in the long run. 👍
I agree Rosa it is nice to do a big shopping trip just to get it done, we have a household of ten. I "TRY" and do a weekly meal plan and fill in with regular shopping trips. Life is so much better with meal planing....:D Shelby
Thank you Ms Sassy for the kind words of encouragement. When Ken and I were first married we lived paycheck to paycheck and that is when I tried to start stocking up my pantry when things were on sale. We are a family of ten, so now it is more important than ever. Shelby
new subscriber here momma to a dozen here love seeing other big family momma's ideas. We spend about $500 a month on groceries but we do grow alot of our food. fun to watch thanks😁
Welcome to my channel, we have such a great group here. You do great on your food budget!!! I hope to get a garden in next year, or at least get the plot ready. We just moved and have been developing our property. Hugs SHelby
susi q hahaha I thought it was going to take forever to check out but the cashier was very efficient. Didn't take too long, I know because I held my breath waiting for the total. Haha Shelby
We have all boys and I know how they (and their friends) can eat you out of house and home, our youngest is 6'5". We budget 40 bucks a week per person, and that includes food, any eating out, entertaining, household products, and personal care items. I usually don't spend that much because I shop the lost leader sales, coupon, meal plan seasonally, and put leftovers in meal prep containers at eye level in individual portions in the frig. I keep any un used weekly grocery money in an envelope to use for things like this big shopping trip. Last year with the leftover money I was able to buy a freezer and a whole cow. Whatever I have left from our grocery budget I keep reinvesting into the pantry/freezer/ etc and that has enabled us over time to provide for our family. and not have any unforeseen budget crisis. Shelby
Great video! Great haul! I have a small request. You and Ken are obviously financially successful folks. Can you please do a video and walk those who are trying to achieve the same level of financial success/freedom through the life process that got you and Ken where you are today. I think, young people especially, would benefit from it a great deal. Your videos are always wonderful, inspiring, and incredibly informative. Of all the fantastic content, I still remember the wooden bowl video as one of my favorites. I know, it is kind of like Ken with his birthday meal, but I still can't pick a "favorite" video. They are all GREAT!!! As always, thank you for sharing.
Bert Jones Ah thanks Bert. I would love to do a video on this topic. It is really the lesson I want our own children to learn and is my passion. It really just takes a small shift of living below ones means and over time it adds up to big results. We are not experts on the subject but I just spoke with Ken and he said he would share what we did. If anyone could benefit from our experiences that would be great. We just finished packing up a donation for Texas hurricane relief, our whole community is sending down supplies. In my mind, financial planning equals personal freedom and the ability to make the world a better place through charitable giving. When Ken and I were in Tennessee for the eclipse, we were in a restaurant with our boys. An older lady came in with her daughter, we overheard them writing her husbands obituary. He had just passed. Ken and I paid their bill and asked the waitress to give her a hundred dollars towards expenses. We made it out to the car but the daughter ran out to thank us and mares us go back in to meet her mom. She asked why would we do something like this...... Ken said because it is the right thing to do. I have found whatever you give, you get back tenfold. So yes we will do a video sharing our financial journey. Much love Shelby
Hi Shelby ... could show your food focus for us on the best of brands of food items ... your food review in a way. Like the bread ... online we are having so many choices. And every penny counts to plan the shopping from home. Health, cost, taste, availability etc is a challenge. Thank you so much. You are awesome 👌 in the food management with that organization level you are gifted with. Thanks for sharing.
Nice haul. Love it when my pantry is well stocked. Even better with awesome savings. Wish Ken a late Happy Brithday. My heart and prayers for your mom. Job well done. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed it immensely. Hope you have a wonderful amazing day. :)
Your family eats REALLY good!! Dang everything looks amazing!! The best I have seen from one of these food daily a schedules. That potato salad alone!!😋😛
I'm a new subscriber ! How many kids do you and your husband have ? My husband and I have two kids and going grocery shopping gives me anxiety, I don't know what it is. I'm a full time medical student and the last thing I want to do is grocery shop. I have so much respect for you and admire your videos! Thank you for sharing ! ❤️
Lauren you are beautiful and smart!! My advise is to get some good marinade recipes, buy a food saver, and marinade meats in family serving size bags. Make up a bunch of each kind, for example, tequila lime chicken cutlets and then stock up the freezer. Then all you guys need to do is take a protein out of the freezer, and grill. Most of your dinner is done, throw a salad together and cut up some fruit for desert. Boom. Done. Then if you want to cook a more traditional dinner on the weekend, you still can. We have three biological boys and one unofficial adopted son, but have a household of ten. My mom has end stage Alzheimer's, she lives with us along with some family members to help care for her. We have chosen not to place her in an nursing home but the care she requires is great. So we have a small village at our house currently. Shelby
TheQueensCabinet you are wonderful! Thank you so much! I'm going to share this with my husband right away! My husband is a police officer and with our schedules it's very discouraging to prepare a meal... But if you can do it, I definitely can! I have so much respect for you, I fell asleep watching your videos last night and told my husband how excited I was that I found your channel. Just amazing !!! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow! Stocking up like that seems really smart to me. I might start to do this myself! Of course, it's on waay smaller level, as i live alone, but i feel like i would save a lot if i did a bigger haul every few months. Thanks for the great idea!
Lina thanks for the kind words of encouragement. We have all boys, our youngest is 6'5". OMGoodness BBBBRRRREEENNNNNDDDDAAAAA!!!!!!! I sent you a message a while back, so glad to hear from you. I remember when you sent me that pdf coupon for the pen, and every time I used the coupon I got a penny back. You my dear are the coupon Queen!!! How have you been.? Are you still doing the childcare? Shelby
It's it funny how things like that can put a smile on your face. I do sweepstakes as a hobby and everytime I use something I won, I smile. YEP keeping busy with daycare. I have another channel permanently in preschool and have a few video over there. Keep trying to keep busy. I'm in the first few years of EMPTY NESTING, one would think things would slow down a little, but its not true. It's so nice to see you making videos again.
How much were the walnuts & where did you get those nuts? Is that supplement drink really ok in coffee? I need it, can't force it down. I wound up not able to eat Trader Joes Fried Rice due to all the big pieces of yellow eggs cooked right into it that would break up if I tried to scoop the eggs out. So, fried rice a fail. How do you guys save enough to pay that much in groceries and household items? I would have to know a new household item was needed. Charge it at Target to make several payments over time so my grocery budget would be saved.
Stacey we have a weekly grocery budget of 400 for a family of ten. However, I usually don't spend that much and I'm able to save up for the larger stock up hauls. Also, last year we saved to purchase a whole cow and that helped our food budget so much, it was so much cheaper per pound. The premier protein caramel flavor is good in coffee, but it is usually sold out at my Walmart so it is hit or miss when we go. I'm not sure if Target has it? The walnuts were from Sam's Club and were $13.68 for 3 pounds. Shelby
I really enjoyed watching your haul! I love Trader Joe's and Costco (where I live). Next time I'm at Trader Joe's I'm going to look for the shelf stable whipping cream, I have never seen that before and feel like I never have whipping cream when I need it. I am looking forward to watching your pantry video - that is a dream of mine to have a fully stocked pantry! I just have absolutely no space in my current house to stock up like I would like.
Thank you Whitney. My first home was very small and I always dreamed of a large pantry. Now that we have a nice size pantry it is so convenient not having to run to the store all the time and being able to purchase items when on sale. :D Shelby You will LOVE the shelf stable cream.
You do an awesome job!!!!!(For shopping and meal planning and cooking)!!!! As always love your video❤️ I know it has to be heartbreaking for you about your Mother.
Instead of all those plastic bottles, you guys should try reusable water bottles. It helps improve the environment, AND you can use them for years!! They save a lot of money. The oceans are suffering because of all the usage of plastic bottles, and with eliminating all of those from your big family, it would really make a difference!
Karlie Gilmore Great point Karlie, we are waiting on our well water test results and the majority of those water bottles are going bye bye. Our family recycles the bottles, we have a container right next to our trash can. I have seen the images of the plastic that has accumulated in our ocean, very disturbing. Isn't it the size of Texas? Another tip is to use cloth grocery bags, now if I can only remember to take them with me to the store. wink wink Shelby
The Art of the Home Thank you. What are your favorite meals to prepare for your large family that are economical and any tips on grocery shopping? We budget 40 dollars per person a week, but usually stay under that on our weekly shopping trips. Whatever grocery money we have leftover each week we save for these large hauls, or use to buy meat for the freezer when it is on sale or last year we bought a whole cow. I do have a bulk pantry for staples too. Any tips would greatly be appreciated. Shelby
I love stocking up. People dont realize buying in bulk saves you money in the long run
Why do I find this stuff fun to watch 😂😂
IDK Wolfy I just watch Jammerills haul video, and enjoyed it too. :D Shelby
TheQueensCabinet Oml 😭😭 you respondeddddd 😭😭😭❤️💕✨
With a name like Wolfy Bambi how could I not respond!!!! :D
Seeing that she has at least 2-3 months worth of food is so satisfying
I'm not sure how I came across your channel, BUT IM SO GLAD I DID!!!!!! You cook REAL food and I LOVE IT!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Virginia and welcome to my channel. We have a great group here! Shelby
TheQueensCabinet how old were you and Ken when you'll started saving?
In our 20's, Ken had the goal of retiring when he turned 50. If Ken and I can do it anyone can. Shelby
TheQueensCabinet man...we're 20 years behind. But w/Gods grace and help, I know well have a blessed and well prepared retirement. Thanks for responding back!
Oh and LOVE your prepping and haul!
Shelby
I still live at home with my parents and I'm watching this. For some reason I'm intrigued, nice video!

TheQueensCabinet that is such helpful advice! I will definitely start doing that, thanks so much!
Me too haha
u be stupid to move out
You're the type of mom that I would like to be in the kitchen
PHILLIPS FamBam two of my favorite RUclipsrs
I love them too.
TheQueensCabinet how many kids do you have
I agree with you guys Great Hall and yes yes but does she not have a local grocery store. Buy fruit in small amount.
This is my kind of haul. I got my life with this video. Ok m pumped for shopping. TFS
Awe thanks Resa for the kind words. Shelby
Hey Resa ❤
Hi RESA I love ❤️ Your hauls!!!
Cancer patients
My kind of haul and food items!!! Yummy meals and great planning!!! Subscribed.
Thanks Monica, we only do these huge hauls a few times a year and stock up. Thanks for subscribing, we have a good group! Shelby
You must be a hardworking mom! Smart strategy definitely saves the family. But at the same time we also may have to prepare for the time that the stocks of supplies cannot resolve the issues. Having a great alternative plan is also absolutely necessary. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!! 😊😊😊
That potato salad looks amazing!!
Thanks Michelle, Ken's mom made the best potato salad ever. Shelby
It really does!
Michelle Martinez omg it looks amazing wish I could take a scoop of it lol
Michelle Martinez ikr!
I want the recipe!
I love the deviled eggs on top of the potato salad!
Wow this the biggest grocery haul ever. Loved it
Stephanie Pierce Thanks for the kind words of encouragement Stephanie. Our family is so large it makes it convenient to stock up and saves us money in the long run. Shelby
I loved watching this. I'm a college kid so the grocery budget is more like $20, but your voice is really sweet and made me miss my mom back at home!! Thanks for sharing
Awe Lily to be compared to your mom in any way is a huge compliment, thank you. Give her a call, she will LOVE it!!! Shelby
This is my first video I've watched of yours and let me tell you I'm impressed! I'm a mom of 4 under 6 years old and I'm all about stocking up and being prepared. You are amazing keep it up!! I definitely subscribed!!
Welcome Amanda we have a great community here. Bless you heart, 4 under six is a lot of work......enjoy every minute the time flies by so fast. Shelby
Debra Gabriella What is flautas?
Sam I think it is another name for taquitos or rolled tacos? Shelby
Yes you're correct, I'm half Mexican and we call them flautas but it's the same as taquitos.
Debra Gabriella Deb its kind of like subs, grinders, or hoagies, they're all Italian sandwiches. Ken's fav dinner is taquitos AKA floutas, so good! Shelby
Wow, so nice you stocked up your pantry like that. Love it! Keep up the good work mama!
Thanks Marjolein for the kind words of encouragement. I love when woman support each other. What a great way to start my day.
Shelby
this is the best grocery haul i ever see and i love it
Arjuna persada thank you, that is so sweet! :)
I'm a college student, so I only have one mouth to feed (mine lol), but this was so interesting to watch!
Cheryl Cai Thanks Cheryl what are you studying? We do a couple big hauls a year, we are a household of ten. Shelby
I understand your total, you bought some big ticket items. Your kids lunches will be the best. Loved your haul.
Thank you Von. Shelby
I found this soothing looking through your food shop.
Thanks and welcome to my channel. We have a great group here. Shelby
Hubby and I are about to be PCSing with out two boys in the upcoming year! I’m so excited watching this so I have some good ideas of what I need to remember to purchase when we restock our kitchen.
Very nice Niki, it is so much nicer to cook when you have a well stocked kitchen. Happy Holidays Shelby
Your potato salad and deviled eggs look amazing!!
Thank you so much Sonira. Shelby
Yes I am new to your channel I would also love to see .....freezer and pantry thanks for sharing
Hi Thrifty and welcome to my channel. I have a pantry tour but haven't done a freezer tour yet. Shelby
ruclips.net/video/Gwq1hLmA0yI/видео.html
Unrelated but your makeup and hair really compliments you 😊
Thank you Diva, coming from someone so beautiful as yourself that is a nice compliment. Shelby
Shelby
This makes me happy to see veggies and fruits as most hauls don't have them :)
Thank You for the Peaches and Mascapone Recipe . Giata make it with Brandy and white wine...Wonderful!!
Love your new house and awesome pantry! Watching your video daily🐦🐿
Shelby
Laura C agree it's alot...I have 9 kids and 3 adult and never ever in my life spend more the 600.. But hey whatever works...
Ladies, she did say it was a big freezer/pantry restock, that they do a couple times a year.
I know what you mean, it is a hidden pleasure for me too. :D Shelby
I love watching your videos. Would be great to see how you store everything - like your other pantry? Thanks for sharing :) hugs from Canada.
Thanks for the kind words. Ken broke ground on his garage the other day and he is putting in a large closet for my long term food storage. Will give tour when he is done. Shelby
Thank you for sharing your grocery hauls as well as menu plans. I started watching about a month ago, and have learned so much. Love your channel!! :)
Love the way you shop can't wait to see more
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement Tamara. Shelby
So happy I found your channel, I have watched a few similar channels and I didn't really like them but so glad I found yours!
Whoa I need to come have dinner at your house lol.. yall eating good over there and I like all your meals you had planned for those days 😁
Shelby

Your dinners looks amazing. :) Smart shopping. Hope to see how you organize your freezer.
Sandra it has been 30 years since I bought new furniture so I can't wait too. I loved "I can't help falling in love with you" s i g h!
Ken's birthday dinner looks delicious! And I love Texas sheetcake, too!
Awe thank you Donette. :D Shelby
Love Shelby
It's a good idea what you guys do.... i was initially startled by the figure but this made sense after I watched.
My weekly grocery trips since are mostly for fruit and veggies. It really helps especially during the winter months. Shelby
Omg I'm so happy this was recommended for me, I love hearing about deals! Nice haul (:
Thank you Julianne, you are so kind. :D Shelby
Wow! Y'all are some amazing cooks! I'm jealous over yalls weekly dinners!
Awe Ashley thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Shelby
That was an awesome haul, Shelby! So much fun to watch. Thank you!------Tressa Daigle
Thanks Tressa. How are you feeling after your surgery? Hope better each day. Shelby PS Have you given any thought about starting your channel?
TheQueensCabinet Hey Shelby, hope you are doing well today. Sorry I am just getting back to you and yes I have been giving some thought to making a video just not quite ready. I might just do some grocery hauls to build up my confidence😃 Thanks for asking😍
Oh I am getting better too😃 thank you for checking on me that made my day❤️
That is great to hear. Yes a haul video would be great. When you are ready. Shelby
I need to start shopping like this, but it's only my husband & I. That Potato salad looks yummy. Great haul.
Thank you. We have a household of ten, I'm not going to know how to shop when it is only me and Ken. Thank you for the kind words, the potato salad recipe was my MIL's. Shelby
I love the US food hauls... We don't have most of this in the UK 🇬🇧..... Looks amazing 😊 😊 😊 😊
Thank you Sonia, I can't believe you're watching all the way from the UK. Amazing! Shelby
Happy Birthday to Ken, wow now that's a grocery haul..
Ken said to be sure and tell you hanks for the birthday wishes. Shelby
I think I want to be adopted by you. I love your meal planning. Maybe I'll get there one day.
Thank you Latriise. Keep meal planning it will get easier. I would recommend starting with your sales add for your grocery store, plan your meals around what is on sale and in season. Shelby
I can't even imagine having to shop like this! You must be very up on sales! Good for you!
Thanks for the kind words Alison, I try and menu plan once a week to keep on top of the sales. It is a challenge for sure....Shelby
It is such a good feeling having food and staples in your pantry. Sometimes the $$$ pinch really hurts, but it sure pays off when you have what you need on hand and don't have to make a lot of unnecessary trips to the store. It really saves a lot of money in the long run. 👍
Hugo Therapy I kind of hold my breath at the cash register when we do these major stock ups, even though I know it saves money on the back end. Shelby
Love this! We stock up on Costco about every 3 months about 600. Then our regular shopping and Costco hauls. But it's just the two of us and a dog. 🐾
I agree Rosa it is nice to do a big shopping trip just to get it done, we have a household of ten. I "TRY" and do a weekly meal plan and fill in with regular shopping trips. Life is so much better with meal planing....:D Shelby
Wow I wanna come over to your house. How many years did it take you to learn to cook all that?
Awe thanks Jasmine for the kind words. When I left home I didn't know how to boil water and that was 35 years ago. Shelby
Quarantine got me like;
Watching Grocery Haul again and again and again 😆 this is fun!
I never comment. But I have to tell you that your hauls and recipes are the best.
shickable Ah thank you for the kind words of encouragement. ❤️ Shelby
It's really smart to stock up when you can. Nice haul.
Thank you Ms Sassy for the kind words of encouragement. When Ken and I were first married we lived paycheck to paycheck and that is when I tried to start stocking up my pantry when things were on sale. We are a family of ten, so now it is more important than ever. Shelby
I just love your channel and your dinners are awesome!
Thank you for the kind words Salynn! Shelby
new subscriber here momma to a dozen here love seeing other big family momma's ideas. We spend about $500 a month on groceries but we do grow alot of our food. fun to watch thanks😁
Welcome to my channel, we have such a great group here. You do great on your food budget!!! I hope to get a garden in next year, or at least get the plot ready. We just moved and have been developing our property. Hugs SHelby
This is great!! I thought *we* were prepared when my husband purchased $800 worth of meat a few months ago but you've got us beat by a mile! lol
That is awesome you stocked up on meat. I try to get ahead a little here and there when meats are on sale. Groceries have become so expensive!! Shelby
Crazy Busy Family Life I just subscribed to your channel looking forward to your content!
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and welcome to my channel. We have such a great group here. Shelby
Hi. I’m new to your channel and am loving it! The hauls, the organization-all of it!
Oh, but I would hate to be behind you in the check-out line!
susi q hahaha I thought it was going to take forever to check out but the cashier was very efficient. Didn't take too long, I know because I held my breath waiting for the total. Haha Shelby
susi q ,,lol😂😂absolutely
i love how you make your list and the list oñ how you go shopping for your food for the month
I'm a mom of 5 & 4 of them am are boys gulp lol.... seriously what a blessing you are able to provide for & take care of your family in this way!!!
Shelby
Amazing tips and thank you so much for taking the time to reply :)
TheQueensCabinet you are so amazing.
Thank you. Shelby
Oh man wish We had half those Things in Denmark , Like coffee cremer with tastes oh man
Hi Shelby ... could show your food focus for us on the best of brands of food items ... your food review in a way. Like the bread ... online we are having so many choices. And every penny counts to plan the shopping from home. Health, cost, taste, availability etc is a challenge. Thank you so much.
You are awesome 👌 in the food management with that organization level you are gifted with. Thanks for sharing.
you write just like my aunt and it makes me so happy haha
Happy 29th Ken :) Nice, I have to do a restocking pretty soon, summer is a time where I hit the pantry pretty hard then restock in early fall.
Ken says thank you John. Get that pantry stocked for fall too!!! Shelby
Nice haul. Love it when my pantry is well stocked. Even better with awesome savings. Wish Ken a late Happy Brithday. My heart and prayers for your mom. Job well done. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed it immensely. Hope you have a wonderful amazing day. :)
Pam Jones Pam Ken said thank you and thank you for the well wishes for my mom. It really is a horrible disease. Much love Shelby
Your family eats REALLY good!! Dang everything looks amazing!! The best I have seen from one of these food daily a schedules. That potato salad alone!!😋😛
Aw thanks, the potato salad was my mother in laws recipe.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ken is retired LE, please tell your husband thank you for his service! Love Shelby
TheQueensCabinet wow! I will! Thank you!!
We budget 40 bucks a week per person, and that includes food, any eating out, entertaining, household products, and personal care items. I love a loaded pizza. You made me hungry for one. That was a lot of food, but I know how fast it disappears. Good job with the coupons and deals!
Please do a video on how to make that p/salad..
Lisa Walker Lisa I just added it to my list. Shelby
You do an awesome job!!!!!(For shopping and meal planning and cooking)!!!!
As always love your video❤️
I know it has to be heartbreaking for you about your Mother.
Everetta it is like I have already lost her once, so sad but I try and keep a hold of how she was. Much Love Shelby
TheQueensCabinet ❤️
Another tip is to use cloth grocery bags, now if I can only remember to take them with me to the store. wink wink Shelby
glad to hear that!!!
Wow! This is one huge haul ! Well done!
Awe thanks, we are set for the next 6 months or so. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Shelby
All of your dinners looked so delicious!!
Thank you so much. Shelby
Great haul & happy birthday to your husband!
Cissy Ken said to tell you thank you! Shelby
Fabulous meat deals! I like your taste in food! We're also a family of ten :-)
Shelby
Great haul and very creative. Nice job meal planning.
Thank you Debbie :D Shelby
They must have a really big family cause I am just thinking about all this going bad lmao
Pam we have a household of ten and therefore have little food waste. :D Shelby
I enjoy watching your videos can you give us a look into your deep freezer I want to see how you pack it all in
Pam I will add it to the list to do :D
Wow I can't even fathom spending that much money on groceries at one time! Amazing....
Annette Rose my heart skipped a beat at Sams Club when our tab was totaled. I won't know how to shop when our kids leave home. Shelby
