- CHICON 2007 main J2 panel with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. This is a revised version of the video posted in February 2024. It has significantly better video quality. The source video is not my own; it was generously provided by AgtSpooky. The event took place on Sunday, November 11, 2007. I enhanced the original video as described below.

ENHANCEMENTS
1. I ran an upscale and stabilization program to improve video quality and reduce shakiness. It isn't perfect; the source material was recorded with 2007 technology. However, it now looks significantly better than any other video of this event published to date.
2. I added some small and (mostly) subtle content to help explain pop culture references that viewers might not be familiar with and to refresh people's memories on specific episode references being discussed.
3. I added GOOD, color-coded subtitles, unlike the auto-generated atrocities most of these older videos have that don't even make sense. If you turn on the CC button, these sometimes chaotic videos will make a LOT more sense! If I wasn't confident about what they said, even if I thought I could guess based on context, I marked it as [inaudible] in the subtitles.

This video was generously provided to me directly from AgtSpooky who attended and recorded the event. This is why I released a revised version -- the original file upscaled so much better than the one I'd originally used from RUclips that my original enhanced video seemed embarrassingly bad by comparison.
I also used 31 seconds of the following video at the beginning. The quality is low and I couldn't get it to upscale, but we're lucky to have it because it's the only one I could find that covers this brief gap between the end of Jared's panel and the beginning of the J2 panel.

@@DetailTilted Aww, I'm glad it made you happy! You're out here doing amazing work for real! I've been trying to pace myself with watching these videos but its an impossible task, lol! The quality, first of all, is amazing! I know this might be a bit of a bad comparison but i was watching that Ellen Degeneres interview with jared that was mentioned in the jared 2007 panel and the quality was GODAWFUL! Switching back to the panel was the biggest treat ever haha! On another point, i know this gets mentioned in other comments, but your use of the side space for additional information is GENIUS! I don't know if it's just me but these older panels have a lot more spn specific stuff to them with like, scene references, blooper references, etc and its such a joy that i can expect your explanation to pop up on screen as the reader says it! It's so amazing and thank you so much for all the research you put into these videos!
Thank you so much! I got really lucky when I managed to get in touch with AgtSpooky and get her original video files. They upscaled so much better than the videos pulled off RUclips. I think RUclips compressed the files and it reduced the quality.
I’ve temporarily skipped over some conventions I couldn’t upscale, but once I go back and do those, you’ll unfortunately see the visual quality go downhill. They’ll probably come out looking more like my CHICON 2008 breakfast video if you’ve seen that one, maybe worse. That’s the only one I’ve published so far that doesn’t have any upscaling. (The other CHICON 2008 panels are upscaled, though.) I made a lot of color corrections and reduced the headache-inducing flashes, and if you look at the original videos you’ll see a HUGE difference, but it looks very bad by comparison with my other enhanced videos. And I don’t know WHAT we’ll get once I go back and try to do LACON 2008 - those videos are a mess. 🤣
Either way, upscaled or not, they’ll definitely still have the subtitles and the sidebar content. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the additional info! I’ve had a lot of fun adding it, and I’ve learned a lot of things that went over my head the first time I watched these videos.
I remember these videos from back in the day. Thank you so much to AgtSpooky for the recordings and to you for taking the time to enhance and then to share. I am extremely grateful and shall look forward to watching.

Wasn't Jared afraid of bears in 2007? We all know now what his greatest fear is (bears..), but back then he was at a loss when he heard the question..
Haha, yes, it was funny to see him struggle with this question (and a similar one in CHICON 2008) when those of us who have seen the later videos could have answered it for him. 😂 I kind of think the answer he gave in this video was probably the more serious and true answer, though. I’m sure he really does find bears scary, but I think he probably also uses that answer because it’s way funnier, especially when Jensen is there to tease him about it, so it works better for a panel like this.
I’m guessing you saw the video where Jared and Jensen talk about Jared’s Scare Bear app? That one made me laugh so hard. 🤣 In case anyone else sees this comment who’s wondering what I’m talking about, here’s a link. (Not my video.
