Thanks Ed great box set
Still have the vinyl boxset until this time~! :) Glad I keep it with my other collections.
I love this set got on cassette to great set
My cousin had that record. I remember 21 years ago playing that on my old record player
I just purchased a near mint one on ebay for £30 which has the sticker on it and book. Had it back in the day so I'm looking forward to getting it back in my collection.
I was 14 when this was released. If I remember correctly, I believe it retailed for $39.99. I loved this when I (ok, my mom) got it. One of my favorites from it is "American Trilogy" from the 1975 concert. What makes it a bit different is the normal flute solo is done by a trumpet instead. This is the only version with a trumpet that I know of. I also played that laughing version of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" constantly. And although "Dog's Life" is not a favorite of mine, I like listening t this one as Elvis breaks out laughing during this cut. I have always loved this set. Hearing that '61 benefit concert for the first time was amazing!
PresleyGirl66 I was also 14 when this came out, and was going to say the exact same thing you did!! 😂😂 Great minds!! 🧐
From what I recall, it was CDN$89. I'll have to dig out the receipt from my Elvis storage room.
The 8 album set was about $69.99 suggested retail in 1980
Ed you are spoiling us with your uploads, I have the cd edition of the box set which I take out once in a while The concert was released in Holland in the late 80s for a official fan club i it was retitled Elvis In Dallas,
Stay safe
Sean
I got this box set on vinyl and cassettes to
We’ve got 4 of these, my dad always got 2 of everything and I’ve picked up 2 myself, great box set
Because I saw your video on the CD version of this package, I found it on eBay and grabbed it, but feeling rather nostalgic, because I use to have this LP set, I went after the vinyl set on eBay too, now I'll have both, I'm real excited.
I was 8 years old and I had to borrow money for it to buy it, it was the most expensive thing I had ever bought! But I remember that I was very pleased with it and played it constantly.
Listening to the 61 concert always makes me sad that he didn’t continue doing live shows, he was so good but instead we got songs like “A Dog’s Life”.
B.t.w. when my grandmother heard I had to borrow money, she payed my debt.
Yay Grandma!! 🤣🤣. Great story. I agree about the 61 concert. It’s great to hear the songs done closer to their original form. Thanks for watching and stay safe.
I bought this box set in 1995 here in Argentina ,i love the version of Kentucky Rain in Vegas Years LP.Just Great!!
Hi Ed,
I bought this set on vinyl when it came out new in 1980. I played the records once only to put them onto cassettes. We used to do that back then 😊. I still have the set but unfortunately can’t recall how much it cost me. I remember it being expensive that’s for sure. It had a poster with the booklet, does yours have it the poster?
Great video as always mate, take care and keep safe buddy 👍

Hi Ed,
It’s Anthony from Staten Island. It’s a great box set, in fact one of my favorite box sets of Elvis. I remember my family moved to the midwest in 1986 and I went to a record store and they had this box set on cassette. I was 15 at that time. I didn’t know what songs were on the album because they were not displayed. I remember saving my money for about a year to buy this album and I did. It’s is fantastic. I have it on album, two cassette boxes and two cd boxes. Just a note, It’s Only Love on the cassette version is altered and different from the vinyl and cd versions. Also, I have the Promo album as well. Took bits and pieces from the box set.
Take Care.
I found this boxed set, still sealed, on ebay for under $20.I liked the 1956 Las Vegas concert and the 1961 Pearl Harbor concert. I didn't care too much for the 70s stuff, with the 12 backup singers drowning him out.
The record in the box set titled lost singles of 9 songs could have included for more time Elvis interview from 1972 new York press conference ?
I bought that back in 1980. Still have it. Only listened to each album 1 time. CDs started to rule the world not too much later. Bought it on CD and still listen to them to this day. Very nicely done Mr. Ed. Very nice video. Thank You for posting.
Elvis laughing during a performance of Are You Lonesome Tonight is the best and Beyond The Reef.
I was 10 when this came out. I got it at a record store in California called Wenzell. They had a big Elvis section and a room for collectors. The woman who sold me mine was the owner and she said she had 2 other then the one she sold me and one for her self and that what was all she could get at that time. It cost me $35.00 back then
Awesome set. One of the best releases ever.
estoy pensando seriamente en comprar ese box set 25 aniversary, mas ahora que veo tu video.
saludos desde argentina!!!!
AWESOME Video Ed ! AWESOME Set ! I Bought My Set At Ray Muffett's Music Shop Located In Downtown Providence, RI In 1980. Ray Muffett Was A Great Record Dealer. He Had All The Elvis LP's, EP's, and Singles. I Loved Going In That Store. I Miss That Place.
Really enjoyed this box set had to wait for it, for the post man to bring it I couldn't wait. Them years have gone so fast since 1980. Still think it's one of the best albums to ever come out. Got it now on cd.
Very thorough review of this box set. Packaging is well done with great photos. The movie songs were embarrassing but the TV Special and Live make up for the others. His love for new music like Beatles and Neil Diamond material is Elvis feeling happy and enjoying the music once more. He probably thought the music died when Buddy Holly died for a while until the Beatles came along to revive the music scene in the Sixties. The photos are some of the best from RCA. My friend has this album and loves this also. Back in 1980 in Canada we had Record Stores in our cities called A&A Records, Bluebird and the famous Sam the Record Man. You should check them out for historic Canadian Record Stores. Take care Ed. Thanks for the nice sharing.
I have that 8 record collection , I talked my Dad into buying it for me - when it first came out , a wonderful collection :) .....here in Merced , California - when I was a Teenager - I primarily got my records from MUSIC-LAND in the Mall and close to the MALL - I also got records from MONTGOMERY WARDS - where I would buy records and my DAD bought me records that most of the time - I picked out what he would buy me .....most of my collection was bought by me - by me working at a Full time Job at age 16 , and before that - I would go to neighbours and around - to see if I could do any work they may be willing to pay me for :) ...raking Leaves, vacuuming, shampooing their carpets with their equipment , mowing , etc........I am 56 now ........I also have it on CDs as well :) ......the LPs were $59.95 before Tax back in 1980 - I was 16 in 1980 , I got it just before I got my First Full time Job - which I Quit after about 5 years later , they asked me not to Quit :) ....the songs Datin' & A Dogs Life are great - he keeps Laughing - he kept trying to sing those songs without Laughing ........

i remember buying it from whsmiths UK
Hi Ed. First off cool shirt. Yes I have this set but I don't know what I paid for it. But I learned something new about this box set that I did not know about and never noticed about it. And that is that Elvis' signature is etched in the dead wax. Never noticed it before. Thanks great video. Stay safe and well. TCB with TLC.
Hi Ed, I got that vinyl box set for Christmas 1980.
A few years ago I got the cd set.
I bought this upon first release, but sold it many years ago when I sold my complete vinyl collection, I re-bought it a few years ago on CD which I still have, and I haven't even played it...I guess that FTD now rules my Elvis world LOL, cheers Ed!
Thanks I recall it was $60 aud. Bought a sealed copy CD recently on eBay for $30. Fantastic array. Loved the laughing song as well as follow that dream. Takes me back!
Great set. I have it in cassette and cd format.

Very Rare RCA 45 - released in Dec 55’ was Mystery Train - so 55-80 was technically 25 years - I never picked up this box - often on eBay and not very expensive- TCB Ed 💥
Got the cd set and the lp box
I bought mine on a record fair in the 90's, pretty expensive. But it had no inner sleeves, the records were put right in the carton. I always wondered if this was the original way, anybody? Still the records are in good shape and i like the Kentucky Rain and Unchained Melody version a lot.
I have this to ED i love this set and yes it is out on cd and i am thinking on getting it on cd to an done of my favorite box set.....Great video Ed
Hi Ed had this many years ago but its long gone along with all my vinyl( i knew i should have kept them all!!). Nice upload it bought back some nice memories. Keep em comin & stay safe mate!
This Elvis album set should be reissued as Elvis picture disc albums set ? Tcb .
This came out on CD box set in the late 90's/very early 2000's, at that time no-one was buying vinyl. I got my CD copy from Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus in London. I remember in the early 80's "Are You Laughing Tonight" being released as a single in the UK , not sure if it was Stateside. Take it easy.
Hey Ed yes this LP Box set was always in the high rent district , sort of speak i never seen what it looked like inside very cool , really nice package ELVIS Aron Presley thanks for sharing , would be interesting to know your thoughts sometime on ELVIS medley lp , (1982 ) & Elvis Presley Artist of the Century ( 1999 box set ) take care stay safe Rock on Peace
I'll say it again, this set is really beautiful. The inside sleeves are a quality choice. New graphics department staff should look back a bit for an example of graphic success.
The deadwax "Elvis Presley" signature... It's just a fantastic detail ! And I think this is quite unique. a small drawing, initials... but not a full signature. Very nice!
No DMM yet in 1979/80 so the technician probably had a brass stamp with the signature. Heated then meticulously placed on the first positive lacquer before any chemical treatment for the matrix conception. The signature on the one you showed isn't perfect... he didn't press it evenly but he couldn't improve it... he was only allowed one try. haha :)
_I'll have to get myself a copy (when all this 🌎sh** calms down)._
Wanted to get the box set when it came out but too expensive for me then however bought the cd’s years later.Always enjoyed it. If I remember right the albums were around $75. when first released.
Couldn't see his autograph but I know about it because I've got the box set but I keep mine in the exact same as when I purchased it I don't put it in any paper sleeves or anything else I'll leave it as it was exactly
Main record store in Britain is hmv. Ironically hmv was the first record label for elvis in Britain
I remember when I bought mine. I had to choose between no. 000002 snd no.012489 unfortunately I chose the higher number. Why the benefit concert wasn't aggressively set up to be an actual live recorded concert is baffling. Wtf were RCA execs thinking.....
🤣✌️
Live albums were relatively rare in the early ‘60s as audio had yet been perfected in general for live shows and any recordings of them.
He is alive been to Graceland twice
I bought that in 1986 i paid $ 40 - 50, i cant remember I also have the CD box set and the 1961 concert there is a book called such a night with that concert in my opinion it's a little better quality
he encontrado una chica miss eleane us777 en you tube por dios que videos tiene,,miralo por fabor todos de elvis,,,
