As a young child in the mid-70s, I remember discovering the excitement of the Beatles, partly through the Rock and Roll Music album, and some of the Beatles' solo television appearances. This album really added to the mystique of the group and filled a much needed void at the time, getting the record companies back in gear for Red/Blue. Copyright was also a little different in the70s. I remember being able to buy low priced 8 tracks at the grocery store with 'spitting image' musical covers, sometimes credited to the cover group, sometimes not. There was an incredible Led Zep tribute compilation by "The Other Company". The late 70s copyright laws, I think, put an end to that sort of thing too. Thanks for this great video! Many thanks.
😁😁😁 thanks! When I saw this at the record store, I nearly fainted. I remember you posted the comment about me doing a video on this one and IMMEDIATELY did this one!
I so very much agree with you about the historical importance of this release! Maybe there would be no need for the red and blue albums to exist had it not been for this compilation! Pirate Boxes like this one were still popular in the late 80s, a Dylan 3-LP set immediately coming to mind! And being a Greek, I'm so happy that a Beatles album title has used letters from our alphabet! Cheers.
I first heard of this set reading All Together Now by Podrazik and Castleman but had never seen a copy until about 10 years ago…. I do have Vol 2 of this series and the records don’t sound that great but cool to own. Thank you!
I bought my box sets in the seventies at the flea market . I managed to get the cardboard poster . Yes it was a springboard for red and blue albums . Then later it to John Lennon . Morris levy put together the ROOTS album to sell on tv thru ADAM VIII RECORDS. John saw the advertisement and phoned Allen Klein and a lawsuit resulted . John released his 16:56 rock n roll album with a few songs from roots album .😊
Great Video David, I finally got a hold of these albums. The album covers aren't consistent on colors. Some Alpha Omega are black and white front covers. Same thing with Volume 1 and 2. Still trying to find Volume 2. I was surprised on the sound quality for a bootleg.
Can't remember who the group was back in 74 but I bought an 8Trac tape we called pirate you call bootleg and it actually sounded better than the original! The best sound quality I've ever heard on 8Trac was "The Pure Prairie League's, Busting Out."
I've got a copy although the box has seen better days. I've also got a pressing of the "green album" (on green vinyl) which I think was pressed only in Japan and is full of solo Beatles songs even though it's labeled a Beatles album. After getting the red and blue vinyl versions from '78 I had to have the green one also. Recently grabbed the new box set of the red and blue vinyl also. I plan on buying any box set they give us from Jules Martin (have everything so far but still have to get the love soundtrack jiles did with his dad in 2006ish.
I remember as a small child it was advertised on television 1972. My older sister purchased this through the mail. It even had some solo material from each Beatle from the early 1970s.
There's something that Past Masters 2, Hey Jude and '67 to '70 never gets right. That's Old Brown Shoe. The only place it sounds good is on the B side of the UK copies of Ballad Of John & Yoko. Literally no place else. You'd think someone would do it correctly after all this time, but no. It sounds like crap on everything but the original

Hey.. Great video. There is also a vol.2 released to Alpha Omega. It's 4 LPS of more Beatles and solo stuff. Same box as yours but says vol.2. Cheers!
Great job! The video I’ve been waiting for.

Thanks for showing this. very interesting.
Indeed, "a pretty elaborate thing." Agreed that the artwork was pretty cool too.

I have the AO box set (no vol 1) from New Jersey. There was also a 3-CD set released by Audio Tape Inc Long Branch, NJ that was released in 2004.
