@blue tiger He acknowledges his mistakes. He does admit that complacency had set in him to an extent. Perhaps you didn't understand much of the interview. His legacy has been both a boon and a curse for him. Mostly a curse. 'Coz he was always compared to his father and had to stay in his shadow. He is actually a victim of a kind of reverse nepotism and discrimination. He was never a bad actor. Just someone with bad luck. Unlike Hrithik, he wasn't launched by his father nor did he have his father to fall back on during his dry phases. On the contrary, he faced a hell lot of rejection during his initial days and he's mentioned the same in this interview. He accepted whatever came his way only to support his family, considering they were in a deep financial crisis then. Yes, he did make bad choices. He admits that. Also, keep one thing in mind that the audience made guys like Sushant, Ayushman, Kartik stars. Not Abhishek. So it's not that he benefited from his name or something. He's accepted his destiny and only wishes to follow his passion. That of being in front of the camera. So what's your problem with that? Well there's some blind hatred towards this guy. Dude's a seriously nice actor, very very well spoken and has never misbehaved (as far as my brain cells stretch me to). The only reason he didn't succeed much was because of the burden of being a "bachchan" that always came along with him. To be honest, he was the standout performer in movies like Kabhi Alvida na Kehnaa, Guru & Happy New Year. Even Dhoom series would look pretty incomplete without him. Wish him all the best though :)
You forgot Yuva. My jaw dropped when I saw him in Yuva; I couldn't believe that it was this nice guy that I had seen in other movies and in interviews.

The actor who gave us Guru, Paa, Raavan, Dostana, Dhoom, etc should NOT quote Happy New Year as a good performance!! :D Nevertheless, excited for Abhishek Bachchan + Anurag Kashyap!!

Rashmi kamath First of all abhishek bachchan didn't give us those movies. first thing the indian audience need to understand that actors just act in the movie. performance matters its true but these are the director and writer who make the movie. director is the captain of the ship. and if the movie doesn''t work so does the actor. happy new year was the worst movie ever. and it was all because of director. and if a movie becomes blockbuster again the director is the reason not actor so give the same credit to director or more. i believe audience must be intelligent. if audience weren't dumb enough the movies like ra-one and happy new years would have flunked badly at box office but because audience are more crazy about the actors here in india and treat them like a god that's where the equations change. creative and visionary directors and writers don't get chance and financier for his story. anurag kashyap is one of the best in the industry at the moment of time. we need more people like anurag and dumb audience need to change their perspective as well towards the crew behind the camera. actor alone doesn't make a movie its a team work.
HNW wasn't the best movie, but AB'S character was so good!!! I know it wasn't his best performance tho but we don't have to judge according to the space of the role (main/supporting role)..it abt how good it was..I ofc want to c him doing great movies that show how rlly talented he's
I've been watching Film Companion for some time now; this was such a classic interview, and it's so good to have Abhishek back. I've always liked him but felt he needed a good director to help him harness his talent. Really looking forward to Manmarziyan. Thank you, Anupama.
I feel for Abhishek. Born to 2 legendary actors, must be a huge amount of pressure on him to perform as good as them. He has done many good films but unfortunately there are many bad ones. I feel directors don't know what kind of roles are meant for him and I feel he does his best in comedy ( dostana, hny ) and dark brooding roles ( raavan, guru, yuva). Genuinely a good talent if done right.
I personally find him a very good actor.. huge fan of Yuva, Guru, Manmarziyan.. but this inetrview reflects him as a calm, composed and a graceful human being.. a person who is not afraid to introspect.. a man who does not hesitate to talk about his failures.. a man who is gem of a person..
Hardly make posts on RUclips but have to say that this actor is by far one of the most consistently well behaved and mannered men out there in the big dark world of bollywood. You can tell he is a genuinely good human being and is a great husband too, unlike most of his generation who are philanderers. He is a good actor and i have enjoyed his movies be it comedy or otherwise serious like Yuva, Raavan etc His biggest blessing and curse is being the son of Amitabh Bachan, the Indian audience just cannot look passed heritage and comparing family members, its not his fault he is being measured with his dad when his counterparts are being compared to each other. It seems he has been re born as an actor and seems to really want to dive in, we don’t always get into out passion for a career with the right mental and emotional preparation as we think. Life moulds us and teaches us and we may find the right way to go about it later in life. Indian audience is very cruel and hard to change their mindset once they stamp you in a specific way, seems like no matter what the poor guy does he has been labelled. I wish you all the best AB for this new journey of yours which can be your own. Good luck
sa ra he has not worked hard like his dad. He got everything on platter. I'm seeing his same beard look, same hair style same acting, same bloated body from last 15 years. His father work so hard at the age of 75. But he is lazy ass, never hit gym ever. Look at Ranbir Kapoor, he also has a burden of Rishi Kapoor son and Raj kapoor's grandson but look he worked so hard. He took formal training of acting at new York. He devoted 4-5 years in learning acting and film making then he started his career. But abhishek thought acting is in his blood lol
Once Anurag Kashyap was asked what advice would he like to give to Abhishek Bachchan and he said ‘challenge yourself’. I hope he challenged him enough. 😏😀
Guys why so much of hatred for him? He is so humble and so genuine. Even though he is not a great actor , but he is trying his best and being true to himself and doing what he loves. Stop comparing him with AB. Everyone has their own paths.Although he got an easy entry into films compared to others but he is a wise man and has never bragged about the family he belongs to.Not one of those actors who constantly seek attention and that's the best about him. Also has a great sense of humour , is a great dad and that accent 😍 One of the best interviews.
Great guy, great sense. Sometimes I just see Abhishek as a successful businessman. At the same time I wish for him all the best and hope Hollywood notices him soon
I honestly was going to skip watching this interview because I am not a big fan of the Abhishek that comes on screen. I have really enjoyed the films that he has pushed himself a bit, films like Yuva and Guru. Don’t know what made me want to watch this while folding my kids laundry ( Yes, I am a mum of 3 littles ) and I am so blown away by the person that he is. He is deeply rooted and Ash really did summed it really well. I think actors often disregard the fact that their audience often don’t just watch movies because we see a good actor or good looking one but also a good / interesting human being in real life. My perception on this guy has totally changed and I genuinely look forward to watching him back on screen. Best Wishes Abhishek ! ( Now back to folding my laundry )
baby driver and who decides what is a waste of time. I hv seen Hollywood movies which hv been a total waste of time. A great movie transcends language and region
He seems so honest and the humility with which he talks can win any ones respect. There is a certain fineness to him that hints that probably this is a good time for him to venture out again, now that the industry has started to come up with some interesting scripts. I hope one day I get to make a film with him.
I always thought Abhishek had potential...He was great in Yuva/parts of Guru.. .Abhishek.."You don't need the money...Go be a part of some great cinema..Go get them Tiger".
Hi Abhishek I hope u read this. I think you are the best. Very humble and down to earth. it shows in ur interview. Keep it up. U will get more and more success
Bus Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Yuva, Naach, Run, Guru, Dus, Delhi 6, Bunty aur Babli, Sarkar, Dum Maaro Dum, Manmarziyaan.. he is the actor who was instrumental is leading the story and making a connection. Not all our dinners have desserts at the end but doesn't mean it was not great.. Likewise AB is fabulous actor whom I would pay for a ticket in cinema hall. 🙏🏻
He is a fine actor Very articulate speaker Knows what to do And of course "what not" He does what he thinks is best for him Not bothered about the voices around
Such an amazing interview, doubt if so called superstars can talk like him. Go on abhishek. You’re my favourite. Loved your performance in breathe. You definitely took our breath away. Hope you get your due from this industry. No matter what you always entertain us. Keep rocking.
New found respect for Abhishek after watching this Interview. Aish was right about what she said about Abhishek. I hope we see that depth in the films he does. Looking forward to some great cinema coming from him in the future.
One of the most underrated stars of bollywood.. love to see you make a come back.. All support and best wishes👍👍👍 And most importantly a man with a heart of gold..
For the first time in my life I really enjoyed watching an interview with Abhishek !!!!! It seems like these two years has taught him a lot about life. He came across as less arrogant and more down to earth. It was nice to see him get off his hy horses... The new humble Abhishek was a joy to listen to.
So good to have Abhishek back. Met him manyyyyyyyyy years ago where his quiet demeanour spoke volumes of how dignified & sorted he was - left a huge impression. Yuva, Guru, Naach, saw him shine, & till this day, I still think he was THE BEST part of KANK - despite all those seasoned actors (who all performed well) it was Abhishek that saved that terrible film for me. Many feel that his surname got him where he is, but it is that very weighty surname that also wears heavy on him, too, yet despite that, he has a uniqueness about him. Really am fond of him - in case it wasn't apparent yet :)
This is a unique, interesting interview. Surprisingly so, if I might add. We get to see Abhishek's learning journey through failure, lack of work, complacency and insecurity, and whatever he has struggled with. Sure, his struggles may be nowhere close to what a lay person's struggle are like, but then he's not pretending to be something he isn't. He's not claiming he's had the toughest life, and his struggle has been the worst or any such thing. It seems like he's acutely aware of the silver spoon he's had, his lifestyle and advantages above the common people he has always had access to. Despite all that though, he doesn't come off as a jerk. He comes off as a genuine guy who's thoughtful, well-spoken, well-mannered and real. Aren't those qualities we should appreciate? Why focus on how he thought Nandu Bhide was the hardest character he's played? Consider the life he's lived and how he's been brought up, of course he hasn't been exposed to any such people in real life. We can't expect everyone to be a Nawaz or an Irrfan, or an Ayushman or an Aamir Khan. Personally, I respect the individuality here and the structure of this interview. Well done, Anupama.
This was a great interview! Thanks Anupama for this. I have always considered Abhishek Bachhan to be a good actor. His work in Yuva, Pa and Guru was one of the best.. And how can we forget Bunty aur Bubbly. I am really looking forward to this new movie that he talked about here. I really believe he is honest with his craft and he deserves many more good films in his life. So yayy! And I learned the proper usage of three different words like - facetious, blasé and vociferous. He is a good orator. It doesn't sound like it is forced or that he is deliberately using these words. He sounds very comfortable while using such words and that's how it is suposed to be like! I am a huge bookworm and I love how we can say the same thing using different words. Anyway, coming back to his craft. It will be very interesting to see him in a variety of roles... So, all the best Abhishek Bachhan! You will do great in your upcoming films!
Tushita Mukherjee .. he shines in comedy.. I really liked his zhoom barabar.. comedy gold! And guru of course... did not see others. He should have refused supporting roles though, esp happy new year.. away from khans and amitabh bachhan. As a son, he would not minded taking a subdued actor in front of his dad in “mera chain vain ujada”, but he took a hit as an acting career... he looked less important than amitabh’s character and hence his importance as a protagonist...
Omg I found this interview by chance, I luv it whenever I c an interview with abhishek. I luv listening to him talk abt whatever he wants to, I can listen to him all day long. He's honest, humble, well spoken, funny and I LOVE his accent!!..he's not just my fav actor, but I admire and respect him as a human being, I learn a lot of him..I miss to c new movies for him, but I'm also glad that he took a break to think abt if he's doing right with his choices..he did a great movies such as yuva, kabhi alvida na kehna, guru , dostana, Sarkar Raj, Raaven and bol bachchan..I believe he did a great job in all his movies, but it's not just about his acting, it's about the director and other stuff..I hope he'll make a good choices in the future. .Can't wait for ur comeback..luv u and support u always♥♥♥
I genuinely love AB❤ His real self, kindhearted, soft spoken, humble, warm-hearted, gentleness and selfless humour sense is what flattered me. Always will be my favorite one on and off screen. He deserves what he should actually deserve.Endearingly, Love him❤
Enjoyed this interview. Abhishek is an intelligent man. Especially loved his take when Anupama asks an extremely sexist question about men going through 'existential crisis while women just take an break because they get married or have a baby'. Smart man with a very balanced head on his shoulders.
@psychedelic toaster People know him. Even in your hatred for him you're still making him even more famous. So he's anything but a failure. Who even knows you? What are your achievements in life? You're an abject failure actually.
Jr. AB! Life's been tough mate incl the memes! Still an honest man. Isn't that what is important in life like being a good person first and then at your respective jobs? This thing is more difficult for him than anybody else because his dad is AB.
You're a fab actor... I have watched all your movies.. Some were nice.. Some weren't and there were some which were exceptionally good.. Ups and downs are a part of life... Every damn human form goes through it.. But in all of this.. What matters the most is how genuine of a person you are.. And all through these years... I can safely say that you are a gem of a person and that translates on screen be it the movies or interviews!! More power to you Abhishek!!
There is nothing wrong with nepotism because every parents work for their kids. It's like everything you have or you had for some time like the food you ate the clothes you wear. What would've you done without your parents's money?
I used to think he is the luckiest guy in the whole world. Greatest dad, HUGE family name, tons of money, bungalows, cars, you name it he has got it without lifting a finger and on top of it then gets to marry Aishwarya Rai. But after this interview, all I am thinking is how does he get sleep at night.
He is educated he have lots of money made by his parents n wife if he quit acting today he can live his life happily ever after 😑😑 Normal ppl like us need to progress to make our life better than before
So much pressure on him!!! The more famous you are the more suffocating it is! After marrying aishwarya things have changed for him!! Marrying the most beautiful woman in the world, would make him feel more vulnerable and insecure! I feel bad for him!
Bhargavi Yathiraj .. that’s not correct. Would u sit at home if your wife gets a large estate or inherit a fortune. Everybody has a internal need to be best, and appreciated.
Indie Anusha Project ... agree! I think he would have hurt emotionally with kissing scene of aishwarya and hritik in dhoom 2 or 3. His life would have better if he would have a blockbuster star before marriage.
Love Abhishek because he is always so thoughtful and articulate. There's always been a moral gravitas about him, and true modesty. Sadly he has not always chosen the best films. I think my favorite is still DOSTANA - his comedic sense is perfect, and the whole cast played together perfectly. He's just fine.
He is great actor but people compare him with Amitabh Bachachan that’s only problem. You deserved very good place in film industry. Good luck for your new movie.
Wow! Such an interesting interview! I have always loved to hear Abhisekh Bacchan talk, so intelligent and sensible. It is hard to come by such interviews! Big thumbs up!

I've been watching Film Companion for some time now; this was such a classic interview, and it's so good to have Abhishek back. I've always liked him but felt he needed a good director to help him harness his talent. Really looking forward to Manmarziyan. Thank you, Anupama.
Thank you for watching :)
Glad you liked it Anu - Anupama Chopra
I can listen to him all day for some reason
mandawam he is a cure for insomnia just like his wife. And i genuinely mean it.
Aish does 😛
mandawam Because You are a similar Chutiya like Him
He should think of becoming a speaker
Me too ..
one of the smartest person in the film industry!
He is a good actor and i have enjoyed his movies be it comedy or otherwise serious like Yuva, Raavan etc
His biggest blessing and curse is being the son of Amitabh Bachan, the Indian audience just cannot look passed heritage and comparing family members, its not his fault he is being measured with his dad when his counterparts are being compared to each other.
But abhishek thought acting is in his blood lol
yesyouareright.
sa ra ,Well said !
I want this to be the top comment.
Best comment👌👌
This is probably the first interview that shows the real abhishek , good luck for the film , my fav of his films are Guru ..
So well spoken. Always had a huge soft corner for him. Love him even more for being so candid
Once Anurag Kashyap was asked what advice would he like to give to Abhishek Bachchan and he said ‘challenge yourself’. I hope he challenged him enough. 😏😀
Dear Abhishek, I am so happy you are back again. I missed your films and your humour. Looking forward for Manmarziaa.
Also has a great sense of humour , is a great dad and that accent 😍
One of the best interviews.
He suvjd
Spring Giddinessify same feelings ...reluctantly watched this but thoroughly enjoyed it
baby driver I am in states
baby driver and who decides what is a waste of time. I hv seen Hollywood movies which hv been a total waste of time. A great movie transcends language and region
me too..same here..
Spring Giddinessify
Great to see ab back.. such a grounded person.looking forward to manmarziyan..😊
He seems so honest and the humility with which he talks can win any ones respect. There is a certain fineness to him that hints that probably this is a good time for him to venture out again, now that the industry has started to come up with some interesting scripts. I hope one day I get to make a film with him.
Very well spoken you are getting ready to work hard.
Ive always liked AB and will always wish him well! He's highly underrated and under utilized as an actor! Hope he makes some brilliant films soon!! =)
He is a fantastic actor, rather director's actor. Be it guru, yuva, raavan, bluffmaster...
@psychedelic toaster n what movies have you contributed to.....NOTHING...N YOU WILL.REMAIN THAT - NOTHING.
I always thought Abhishek had potential...He was great in Yuva/parts of Guru.. .Abhishek.."You don't need the money...Go be a part of some great cinema..Go get them Tiger".
Anurag, Anand Rai ,Abhishek is a great combo indeed.
amit kumar add the great Amit Trivedi for his masterpiece music in manmarziyan
Thanks film companion for doing this. I love abhishek the actor and the person that he is more.
His positivity is contagious 💜
Hi Abhishek I hope u read this. I think you are the best. Very humble and down to earth. it shows in ur interview. Keep it up. U will get more and more success
Absolutely fantastic interview... loved this, Anupama! 🌟💛
Thank you!
He is so honest
He is a fine actor
Very articulate speaker
Knows what to do
And of course "what not"
He does what he thinks is best for him
Not bothered about the voices around
A pretty intelligent, humble guy. Guru was very inspirational movie. Really enjoyed every bit of this interview.
This guy is a fighter.....love his attitude
Such an amazing interview, doubt if so called superstars can talk like him. Go on abhishek. You’re my favourite. Loved your performance in breathe. You definitely took our breath away. Hope you get your due from this industry. No matter what you always entertain us. Keep rocking.
New found respect for Abhishek after watching this Interview. Aish was right about what she said about Abhishek. I hope we see that depth in the films he does. Looking forward to some great cinema coming from him in the future.
One of the most underrated stars of bollywood.. love to see you make a come back.. All support and best wishes👍👍👍
And most importantly a man with a heart of gold..
Amy P totally agree!!!
he spoke really well.. best wishes..
😍😍😍😍😍from Indonesia,,,,,Abhishek my favorite actor forever ❤❤
I loved him in marmarziyaan. He played Robbie so sweetly and gently. Definitely one of my favourite characters of his.
He was so pleased to hear what Aishwarya said about him. That is so cute, and I'm sure very uplifting. Nothing like a spouse's support
Honest, Genuine and Real...More power to you Abhishek ❤️❤️
Hei is very honest nd modest person
i love his film 'bluffmaster'.
Amazing personality. Aishwarya is lucky and her quote that anupama read proves that she really understood what a gem he is. All the best.
"emotional bankruptcy" - love it! He's very real and comfortable.
For the first time in my life I really enjoyed watching an interview with Abhishek !!!!! It seems like these two years has taught him a lot about life. He came across as less arrogant and more down to earth. It was nice to see him get off his hy horses... The new humble Abhishek was a joy to listen to.
He is a beautiful soul. I met him in Mauritius.
Humble loving nurturing soul.
So confident... This time... 100%... sure... Hes gonna rock this time... Best of luck... My friend...
dj I believe he has the potential.. to transform into an actor with huge impact..
When Abhishek nurrated that incident of 5th Sep- really tears came in my eyes- I have huge respect for Abhishek
All the best...Hope you come back with a bang
Love the way he talks. He is my favourite actor
All the best abhishekb and love you 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
You will do great in your upcoming films!
yetyouareright.
Thanks for watching Tushita - I love that you learned new words 😄 - Anupama Chopra
🌸🌸🌸
Great interview..
I just love how down to earth Abhishek is in-spite of his successful career and all his achievements. One of the best interview in a while.
Most humble actor of Bollywood!
He is a good actor and very nice person..Welcome back AB..👍
@30:22 How can you do this Anupama you fell for a parody account! Abhishek clearly embarrassed.
mistake happens
nonotatall.youtrulyembarassed.
LMAO moment
Abhisheks parody account is the most hilarious
That was so awkward
He deserves what he should actually deserve.Endearingly, Love him❤
Abhishek Bachchan is a true gentleman 💯 He handled failure in a way where it becomes an inspiration for many of the new comers in bollywood.
Rani and him need to make a movie again. Their "chemistry" was the absolute best.
Waiting to see Abhishek again... always loved his work... thank god hez back.
for some reason , i like this guy now post this interview... he is brutally honest, which us damn rare !
Enjoyed this interview. Abhishek is an intelligent man. Especially loved his take when Anupama asks an extremely sexist question about men going through 'existential crisis while women just take an break because they get married or have a baby'. Smart man with a very balanced head on his shoulders.
i just hope he find success soon
Hit like for AA - Awesome Abhishek
He is nice...the best thing about him is he is humble and amazing husband and supports his wife career
The Most Educated Bollywood Actor, holding an MBA Degree In Economics from Boston University, USA.......
He did his education not for acting but it was his desire to be an educated person.
@psychedelic toaster People know him. Even in your hatred for him you're still making him even more famous. So he's anything but a failure. Who even knows you? What are your achievements in life? You're an abject failure actually.
One day you really become big super star trust me...
very well spoken abhi. Man i love you keep faith good times are ahead of you.God bless you
Jr. AB! Life's been tough mate incl the memes! Still an honest man. Isn't that what is important in life like being a good person first and then at your respective jobs? This thing is more difficult for him than anybody else because his dad is AB.
Good to see you back Abhishek.
Yes.But I would give anything just to hold Ash in my arms as my wife! Anything! This pays back all the rest.At least for me.The luckiest guy alive.
Apart from the nice and articulate way AB spoke, the best thing about this interview was how good of a listener you are Anupama! Thank you. You rock!
nandu bhide was most hardest character of his life. wow this man is amazing!
Aniket Lad thats bcoz his dimag me only kiddee
😂😂😂😂
Very nice coming from keyboard warriors
He is amitabh's son, lived a lavish life..the person u hadn't encountered in ur life, when u have to portray it...its kind of difficult sir.
Mohan Bhargava 😀😀😀
Love Abhishek because he is always so thoughtful and articulate. There's always been a moral gravitas about him, and true modesty. Sadly he has not always chosen the best films. I think my favorite is still DOSTANA - his comedic sense is perfect, and the whole cast played together perfectly. He's just fine.
The most amazing actor by far who has done different genres, looking forward to seeing your movie, hope you win an award soon
He is amazing... Love him... Beautiful interview
