  • Welcome to the next episode of Brighton I Remember. This two-part series features Bonnie Browne, who is highly respected for her pursuit and preservation of Brighton’s history. Bonnie spent 20 years interviewing elders of the community, and eventually published six books. In these videos, Bonnie tells of her family’s life in Brighton and of historians she encountered. She speaks of the changes she experienced growing up in Brighton, including the evolution of Presqu’ile Park, the closure of one-room rural schools, the end of passenger train service to Brighton, and the opening of Highway 401 from Port Hope to Brighton. Bonnie also speaks to the character of residents, their work ethic, and community expectations. We are honoured to feature one of Brighton’s founding historians.
