Happy 2024!👍👍👍📚🤖🚀 I was ill in December too! Well, with children and life in general, one has to pace oneself. I'm mixing "old/classic" fantasy with new; finished reading michael j sullivan's , rise of empire. One knows it's good when wanting to read the first book all over again before reading heir of novron(oh, yeah)😊 I'm also enjoying the first book in raymond e feist riftwar saga...so far. Slowly moving toward tackling ryan cahills the broken and the bound...
I’ve enjoyed both Feist and Sullivan and I hope that you also enjoy going back to the world and the familiarity of classic fantasy tales, it’s always nice to feel like you’re back in a cosy place again with books. I’ve not read Cahill but it’s on my list to try! Hope it’s good!
Welcome back! Sorry to hear that the end of the year you were constantly sick, that always sucks the joy out of that time of year. Looking forward to seeing what books grab your attention this year! I also have the goal to read more of my physical tbr this coming year.
Good luck with trimming down the physical books, a worthy goal and hopefully you’ll have some great reads in there.
Yes we still had fun but it’s a relief to be back to good health again!

Last summer I exited reading slump by reading the first Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown. Despite they are big books, I read them quite fast. So I think they are very good to exit a reading slump. Another recommendations would be: American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keys. If you want something very unique and very grimdark: Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher. I'm reading now Metro 2034 (first book in the series is Metro 2033) and it's a very interesting post-apocalyptic book. Something grimdark and SF: Space Prison by Tom Godwin - audiobook on YT. And speaking of audiobooks: all ten First Law books by Joe Abercrombie narrated by Steven Pacey, there is no better audiobook experience in my opinion.
I do have the audio of The First Law to get to actually so that’s probably a really good suggestion. I’ve read the first one before but many many years ago so I definitely need to return to it and maybe now is the time!
Fletcher is on my list to read as well, and Pierce Brown I’ve read the initial three but haven’t yet continued so I should!
