Truth! This song opens up many spiritual questions that humanity needs to get some answers to, in order to optimize our experience. Pretty sure this grew out of the disenchantments experienced in the late 60’s and early 70’s, then came the “healing movement” in the late 70’s - and we are still in that secretly. Much needs to be brought to the fore, and those questions answered again. Thanks, James, for the reminder!
Tomorrow isn't promised so enjoy the "here and now." Have been to most all of his concerts when he comes to town. First I saw him in Pittsburgh in 1971 with Carole King and Jo Mama. I was that teenager in love with him. Later that same year my parents moved us to Ohio and I have been to countless venues enjoying his performances. Never disappointed.
Gorgeous song in its simplicity. It cuts directly to the point of living and loving - opening up your heart and enjoying the passage of time. I listened to you in 1979 and I still listen to you today. A long and beautiful journey. Thank you so very much James.
What a lineup of musicians... James Taylor - Vocals, Guitar Waddy Wachtel - Guitar Don Grolnick - Keyboards Danny Kortchmar - Guitar David Sanborn - Saxophone Leland Sklar - Bass Russ Kunkel - Drums Arnold McCuller - Background Vocals David Lasley - Background Vocals
funny -- i've been a fan for half a century but this is the first time i noticed him looking like an axe murderer (only at the beginning of the video). quite the contrast to the topic and treatment
One of the most beautiful songs ever! Simply wonderful.

The effects of his heroin use.
@1 …Signifying the stark-duality of Humanity and its existential predicament with itself, the world, and its Creator…
