People are using less energy because it is so expensive - I’m not surprised average usage has dropped. So to tell us the price cap will drop further because of this is a bloody cheek!

won't matter how little energy we use....price will go up so we keep paying more pre unit...

Thank you for your hard work, it seems very odd that Ofgem a company who are supposed to look after the public interests (or am I wrong on that) seem to be supporting the big companies and their shareholders.
Hope you feel better soon and have a happy birthday

    Thanks for the update Richard.
I've been notified by my supplier (Utility Warehouse) that while unit rates for gas and electricity are going down from 1st October, daily standing charges are actually going up slightly. What this actually means for future bills remains to be seen. I've also been told that my monthly payments won't be changing either, even though I'm already in credit. It seems that suppliers want to hang onto our money for as long as they can (presumably so that they can earn interest on it). Needless to say, they'll be getting a phone call (always assuming I can get through of course).

Bearing in mind that yes it's a 17% decrease in the energy bills. However last winter we all received money towards our energy from the government with energy bill support scheme of £400. So in actual fact we shall be paying more this time round than you were in 2022.

If only OFGEM would actually looking the criminal activity of rising standing charges where people are paying *DOUBLE* for the *SAME SERVICE* they got 2 years ago and thrusting smart meters onto people where that alone incurs a daily 30p daily standing charge (amounting to ~£9). No thanks, Eon.Scumbags, I'll read my meters until the end of time (or freeze to death this winter) to keep money in my and OUT of yours! As always, another good vid 👍

What is behind other reports of price increases? Is this something to do with government efforts to crush the less well off and small business??

How the Dickens are they dropping the amount of the cap? It seems illogical at best and scam worthy at worst!!

Maaate, you're wrong about the price cap and standing charges. The standing daily charge continues to rise despite the price cap. It's a con.

Is it true that only EDF is cutting on Standing charges from Jan 2024 for its customers or is it introducing Social Tariff for poor and vulnerable customers only?
Happy Birthday and enjoy and keep up with good work for the community.

I'm on the octopus tracker tariff and my average weekly kW hour rates are around 17p for electric and 4.2p for gas. The saving on electric is around 12.5p per kWh whilst gas is around 2.8p. In Summer I only use around 3 kWh per week but in winter it's around 230 kWh per week as my home is well insulated and I can lower the temperatures of the water running through the radiators to 40 degrees and the thermostat to 16 degrees using 3 units per day of gas if I need the heating on.
