    I've had these headphones for about two months now. I got them as an upgrade for the DT770 Pros and my god am I blown away by the sound quality and clarity. Whilst the bass is significantly less powerful on the X60s I like it so much more. I sometimes felt that the bass of the DTs was drowning all other details and the harsh treble would make my ears tired after a couple of hours. Never had anything similar with the X60s. I think you described the sound characteristics really on point imo. I cannot recommend these headphones enough!

    Thank you for the review, I like your style. The "New Light" footstep test, alone, is more informative than entire reviews from most other channels. I hope you can get your hands on a Focal Celestee, soon, I'm hoping it can match the Clear in resolution. Cheers!😊

    I loved your thoughts about the Hi-X55 I've been waiting for this review from you for a long time, I'm glad it's finally out!
    I was hoping you would give more straightforward comparative feedback about this headphone versus the Hi-X55. How should I decide between these two headphones?

    The sound difference between x55 and x60 may be explained by the using slightly different design in inner part of earpads. Interesting to make a test these with the same earpads. Thanks a lot.

    I was going to buy hi-x65 but ended up with focal clear. It has clarity and details + I can enjoy my music. With hi-x65 i couldn’t enjoy the music and it was a bit harsh to my ears, but much more comfortable than focal clear. I got a new focal clear for 999€ and have reached my end game. If you like rock, heavy metal and black metal you should get the focal clear or clear MG(I don’t like the color but it sounds 👌)

    I own the hi-x60 and I concur with this review, but for me personally, i don't find the female vocal to be sibilant at all, the "sibilance" is necessary to provide the excitement or otherwise this will be just another pair of dull professional headphones. I bought the hi-x60 immediately after demoing for one song. the soundstage is comparable to hifiman sundara which i owned. it's very surprising.

    This seemed like 2 videos in one with a (partial) collection video subtly included. 😃I'll stick with the Hi-X65. I think I would be happy with any of 55, 60 or 65 but as I bought the 65 first that's the only one I need.

    I know this vid is over 7 months old. I am looking for some headphones for gaming. You have recommended the X55 and X65 in the past, for their detail. How do these compare? Which one would you recommend for gaming? Which amp/dac to pair, if it needs one?

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  Год назад +2

      The X55, x60, and x65 are all very similar in sound and detail/resolution. I personally would use the x65 for gaming because of its more neutral bass. You don't need a dedicated amp or dac for any Austrian Audio headphone; they're all very efficient.

    • @marshalledwards3815
      @marshalledwards3815 Год назад

      @@NoThemeReviews Awesome! Thank you for the quick response! I was leaning towards the X65's. Might still get a dac and amp cause I'm sure it won't hurt it, and I'll be able to use it on other headphones.

    Hmm, I wonder if AA have issues with unit varience. After seeing the graph that oratory1990 put up, I was not expecting to hear anything about a sub bass roll off, since his graph shows a significant emphasis. Given your positive experience with the HI X55, I also wonder whether the measurements for that headphone that got quite so much negative attention might have come from a borked unit.
    I guess it's impossible to know without having a a whole bunch of them on hand.

    • @DaBomb5309
      @DaBomb5309 2 года назад +1

      listening him talk about the hi-x55, ot just sounds like he finds the headphone interesting in terms of what they do, rather than refuting the wonkiness graphs suggest. he's always acknowledging it presents music in an uncharacteristically unique way, standout from the rest of the market

    • @benhur2806
      @benhur2806 Год назад

      The increased response is in the *very* low bass and sub-bass though, which the ear has a very hard time registering. Meanwhile, because no headphone is perfect, it will produce distortion at integer multiples of a frequency. This distortion adds to the bass you hear, since it is much easier for the ear to pick up, to the point that it is actually a documented phenomenon that if you reduce the distortion, it'll result in the headphone sounding lacking in bass, despite the bass being equal in terms of ampliude. I suspect this might be what's going on if their drivers are somehow really good in that aspect?

      @@ChrisKeyman AA headphones are unto their own; they don't really mimic anything else, and nothing else mimics them. Maybe the HD800s, Focal Clear, but that's well beyond what we're discussing.
      As for the S4x, generally, you can find some similarities with the HD6xx, Avantone Planar, Beyerdynamic DT700 Pro X, Rode NTH100. They don't sound identical, but generally in the same ballpark.

  • @sonicthehedgehog989

    I returned them very soon after purchase.
    Bad mids terrible treble bass is good.
    It's shouty it shoves details into your ears as if you have hearing damage, it's scary aggressive.
    Treble is deafening.
    I use beyerdynamic which has the infamous treble spike now imagine that pain spread across the treble range.
    It should be marketed as a hearing damage aid tool not a headphone for pleasure or professionals.
    Maybe for professionals if they want to hear the mistakes so clearly and not miss them even if their hearing is damaged.
    It seems like Austrian audio are tuning their headphones for 60+ people or people who abuse their ears.
    The hi x15 is somehow even worse than this one.
    I'm a person who likes different headphone flavors, I appreciate and like different styles, but these are too much, beyond too much.
