I think I was a Jewish sailor in a previous life. I have always been repulsed by christianity. I learned to sail by grabbing the sail and the tiller on a 16' catamaran and taking off. I think it's a Jewish parable that says 'G-d made poor people because he likes good stories'.

What about the Ten lost tribes?!
And it says ‘Israel was scattered amongst the nations to make converts.’ But Chabad don’t follow that.
Maybe Because they follow a Uber religious version of Judaism. Which is too hard for most Jews to follow it seems?!
They have their heads in the clouds. And don’t have a grasp on ‘Dira bTachtonim.’ And so the world suffers!

I can't agree with that, God has chosen the grandchildren of Israel to be his chosen people, when a girl from India concerts into Judaism, it doesn't mean she is one of our big family

Orthodox Jew here. Genuine converts who go through the proper channels are absolutely part of the Jewish people and our family, whether they come from India or china or wherever. Did you know king David descends from Ruth , who was a righteous convert. If she is not considered a Jew then David would not be a Jew, which is obviously not the case case.

Are you saying idolatry is okay? Serving false gods that are finite made by men is okay because it still somehow goes to God? This sounds so watered down… of what God actually says but because a Rabbi says something?? Its true? What about what God says
what do Jews believe? They only go so far as outward motions get into the rhythm of religion but do not know God Elohim the one true God who is to be feared?
If Jews are still in the old covenant where is the blood sacrifice for sins? What is the oral torah? It is not part of the word breathed out by God but simply mans wisdom?

@@VeronicaMartinez- These are not questions, they are expressions of an emotion. There is one G-d and there are 8 billion people.
It is a very simple routine: brush your teeth, and make the world around you full of warmth and peace.
Life is not a game of trivial persuit, or a list of slogans to be internalized like some re-education camp for the heart; and it certainly isn't zero sum.
Find one good thing today to do for soneone with all of your heart. That is a way to Him.
      Much love! NNNNM!

When you were in the womb, you did not know your mother with mind and action per se. You interacted but in a world closed off from seeing her face. You left that place and kept trying to understand your parent in so many different ways...some of which were painfully false and some which were painfully true. Despite any estrangement or death, you remain connected. Despite any shared happiness in your relationship to your parents and family, you remain distinct from your siblings in those relationships.
The reason idolatry is wrong (and that we are all guilty of it) is that we hurt ourselves by making either God or another person into an iconic static image so that we can judge by that freeze frame and ideal what it is that we are worth and what the ultimate potential is for our relationship. That hurts us. We are always worth more and there is always more potential for good than the picture we might be seeing right now--even if it seems like a good image!
At the same time we are always connected to the divine and each other no matter our perspective. So yes, on the one hand you can say we worship different "gods" when speaking of how we conceptualize and interact with the divine, and yes some ways of doing that are less healthy than others. But on the other hand...yes, we worship the same God because we cannot separate ourselves completely from our source no matter what ideas we may have about life.
The Talmud is necessary for many reasons. It preserves past tragedies in a way that allows us to remake them into success. That part is often hidden in some very strange tales. But the more obvious part that we should all be able to recognize and value is that no constitution can function and live without the ongoing legislation and interpretation. Our American constitutional "Talmud" is enormous!! And most Americans ignore the most basic and important parts of it to our detriment. As a larger community we should pay more attention and treasure more the legal and spiritual insights of our heritage of freedom the way that the Jewish community has for ages poured over and renewed the rich treasure of Torah.
