Congratulations of arrival in Charleston. Great job as a team and good job in docking, no worries guys. Ollie love to get to land once in awhile. Love you food especially the breakfast....made me hungry all right. Take care and give Ollie hugs. Aloha!
You guys are so adorable. Love watching your videos! I was afraid we wouldn’t see Ollie. But, thank goodness you showed her at the end. She was so excited to see you guys. Great way to end the video!
Congratulations on a smooth and “uneventful” cruise to Charleston! You two rock! It must be nerve-racking at times to not know exactly what you are heading into. But, you take it in stride and have great attitudes! I bet Charleston is a cute place to visit and walk around. I have to say those potatoes looked awfully delicious! I love love love potatoes! Ollie was cute as ever and so excited to go for her walk! Safe travels to your next locations!
I fished in the Ashley River in Charleston when I was about 14 and it was my first time ever seeing Dolphins and alligators. My father was stationed at the sub base there for 2 years. Oh yeah and it was directly across from Magnolia Plantation, I do remember the tide and current was swift.
Depending on the depth you can always Have a rope and buoy attached to the other end of your anchor in situations where you may not get it back so that you can pull it out of wherever it is attach from the other end
You kids are so awesome and inspiring. You all have great chemistry and not snubby. I do have one concern however, and that is your guard dog, like he would attack and grab someone's hot dog out of their hand, (provided it was grilled to his liking that is). 😂
Haha its always much harder in our head than in real life, but that's much better than the being unprepared with the other way around and having it be much worse than we think 😂
I about broke out in a sweat waiting to dock. Just kidding. Be thankful you had an uneventful day and paid attention to your charts like a good captain should. Enjoy
Dock Master did say tie up on out side even if at fuel dock if nothing else available until slack to move into slip. Of course, need to stay with boat until in assigned slip
@@SchoandJo Slip just inside fuel dock so their little store and cash register in there. Maybe 15X15. Flexed pretty good. (Really thought it had chance of breaking loose and falling in river) I was sure we'd make it., had lines ready and just about got 1st one on. Dad panicked and threw it into reverse. Single screw pulled stern to starboard but got us out far enough out to give a little way on when we hit.
I've said it many times, a $500 solution alternative to a $5000 stern thruster, get a saltwater rated troll motor and hang it off a mount on the swim platform. Did it on a Mainship 350 with a single screw, no issues, got the job done. No shame in my game.....
Do you guys want a super easy potato pancake recipe? They make a delicious snack and are so good with anything. All you need is one russet or Idaho potato, peeled medium to large size. One egg, a pinch of salt and pepper and one clove of garlic and about a tablespoon of onion, or shallot. Blend the ingredients in a food mixer until the potato is minced finely and spoon out into a hot pan with butter and flip after about a minute on each side. You can prep and cook in about 5 minutes a make like 20. I eat these all of the time. They're good with just about anything. We served these with beluga caviar when I was a chef in a five star restaurant
Oooh that sounds delicious! Super simple too! We don't have a food mixer onboard unfortunately, I wonder if we can chop most of this by hand and mix it in a bowl! Thanks Harry! 🤙
@@SchoandJo Yes, you can chop by hand. They're better the smaller you can mince. I love them with a little sour cream, or creme fraiche. You can make creme fraiche too. Just pour some heavy cream in a bowl and a little butter milk cover with plastic wrap, or a Ziploc bag and sit in a warm place over night away from sunlight. Then refrigerate any unused amount. The ratio of heavy cream is 1 cup and 3 tablespoons of butter milk, or regular sour cream
Jen: "I'm a little bit nervous" :) .... NO way! ;) Seriously though... I'm the same way... Total worrier. Our boat is gender reversal to yours. I'm the nervous worrier. My fiance is (almost always) chill. We did an incredibly rough and dangerous dingy crossing "Deaths door" from Rock Island to Washington Island a few weeks back in a 20 knot blow quartering with 3-4 foot occasional breakers (if you guys happen to take the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan you'll pass it) My watch had my heart rate at 150 bpm. My fiance was keeping our German Shepherd calm was at like 80bpm. When we made the safety of Jackson harbor I was overcome with relief and I said "OMG we made it" and she turned around and said "you were worried". I said "no I was scared".
Haha that's great... I think having that balance in a relationship is what matters, it helps us push past our comfort zones and conversely helps to not push things over the edge 😁 We may hit that area when we get to that section of the loop so we'll keep your experience in the back of our minds!!
Why don't you load up that metal frame over the rear deck with solar panels? Also, it looks like you have a control for a bow thruster, any chance you can get it working? For dog baths, try smearing some peanut butter on a plate for Olie to enjoy while you wash her down. If she is food motivated that might be a good distraction. We do that in the summer with our dogs and bath them out back.. In the winter they go in the tub with peanut butter smeared on the side. They hardly notice the bath.
Hehe yes, the peanut butter trick is fantastic! Our bow thruster works and we are very happy that it works, we use it frequently 😁 We definitely could add solar over the rear deck however we have plenty of solar - we don't have any extra need for panels at the moment. If we lived on the hook for a month or more then that might be different, its nice to have the option 🤙
Wow! I enjoyed that long trouble-free cruise to Charleston. Those crispy potatoes and scrambled eggs looked mighty fine.....but but where was the sausage? 🤠 Love mushrooms with my dinner.
Hi Guys, another enjoyable video 📹 ... Especially the Dance 💃 Party at the End ... lol Question, I noticed your engine hours meter read over 15K hrs. Is that normal for diesel ⛽️ engines, because I'm in the research phase of my journey and I see a lot of old boats that I like but have between 2k - 5k hrs on the engines and I thought that was a lot, but if 15k is normal I feel a lot better because I'm not just looking for a loop boat, I'm also looking for a full-time liveaboard boat. Wanna try something different in my older days ‼️🙂 Enjoy Your Days on the Water, Keep Living the Dream, and Most Importantly ... Stay Safe Out There‼️🙂
The lehman engine counters fail often so we have a different one, on the side of our control panel - I'll have to show it in a future video. The actual hours on our engine are 1750ish. It all depends on how well the engines were maintained to be honest! There are a few "1000hrs" services and so on that are important (besides regular oil and fuel maintenance) and so its not that strange to have an engine 5k++ hrs. 15k would be on the very high end but if its maintained then might not be a deal breaker! However take our advice with a grain of salt 😁
Hey Kevin! Just about to head into the Chesapeake and will be taking it day by day with the weather. If we make it to Cambridge we'll let you know! Cheers!
Sorry I missed you. Glad you enjoyed the air show. Stay safe out there. I will be following the rest of your Loop. Fair winds and following seas. Take good care of Ollie. He is a star.
Pivot costed less than 50k but we didn't search for loop boats, just happened upon this Marine Trader. The price was right, we knew the P.O, and we went for it!
Family fried had 39 foot Marine Trader at Golden Isles Marine right there at St Simons. You know how currents rip there and how a single screw boat backs! Ended up sideways on finger of slip with following current. Dad and brother spent almost entire summer there one year. Would push boat out and turn around during slack tide to make people think they'd took it out. So guess that's a tip. Turn boat during slack tide so facing out of slip. Way more control going forward than trying to back against the current.
Hehe I like that, turn the boat around and no one is the wiser! It is nice that our power can reach forward-in and stern-in; it gives us quite a bit of flexibility. We have been practicing stern in and you'll see it in upcoming videos though!
I was just curious. I couldn’t remember seeing it used in your previous videos that I’ve watched. Boating can be expensive. Break out another thousand!
You guys are way too cute. Most of us trawler peeps are pretty grizzled. Regret we missed your passage through the Neuse, where we moor. Honestly for me to believe you are real, I think you need to be more sweaty and grubby. Not enough smudges for being on a diesel boat. Ollie is super cute. Wish I could shrink my 80-pound golden/lab down to his size, for lugging purposes. Not a good dock-jumper. 😐 But I digress. Always enjoy your vids.
Haha can't speak for most other Trawler owners but hey we are what we are 😁 When we adopted Ollie back in the day we thought she was a German Shepherd. Luckily for us she never grew and is a fantastic boat dog size 😁

Relax you got this.. What is the worst thing that can happen ,, you crash into a multi million dollar boat. or you run aground and rip the bottom out of Pivot. you will make yourself sick with the what if's. Looked like all was handled in a very seamen ship way. Thanks for the ride along
Thanks James! I feel like our docking is similar to growing up in the way that a kid is fearless to jump off a roof but an adult can know everything that can go wrong haha. Our maiden voyage docking has forever scarred us but the reality is that it makes us extra cautious and plan a bit more because we know what can go wrong. Also it hasn't gone poorly since our maiden voyage but we still take it seriously. We appreciate you sticking along as we share how we really feel!
Docking Anxiety is a real thing… keeps you on your toes… Fabulous channel… Nice to see some trawlers cruising

Oh neat! I think that would have been a neat place to live and sounds like good fishing too!
If you need to anchor in a location where your anchor may get fouled add a "trip line" to make it easier to retrieve. It's cheap insurance.
We might pick some materials up to crest one!
Depending on the depth you can always Have a rope and buoy attached to the other end of your anchor in situations where you may not get it back so that you can pull it out of wherever it is attach from the other end
Ollie sure understood what bath meant. She beat feet 😂
Hahah its her least favorite word 😂
It sure was a lovely day!
Dangerously close to 10 K subs!
Getting there!

Ooo I want that mushroom stroganoff in the 🔑s!
Sending it your way! Would be great for that chilly Alaska weather 🥶🤤
Ollie quotes!!!
By your special request 😁
She’s very thoughtful that way.
Oh boy!!!
Where's your bucket??
As you know....things are never as bad as we make them out to be....
Seemed wasn't that easy!!!
