I think this is very much fitting for Sonic when you consider that he's also about style and not just purely about speed, which I think a lot of Sonic games nowadays completely forgets.

I really like the aesthetic sonic has, he has a style similar to spider man into the spider-verse but in a way that's sorta fits better with himself. It feels like a style that completely meshes well with sonic. In simple terms this is just a absolutely cool style for Sonic 😁
I think the reason why is mostly cause they’re both cell-shaded, Spider-verse was probably inspired by Sonic Adventure/JSR for it’s style so you can definitely see the influence lol

One thing I'd recommend is if you're going for a Sonic-based moveset by changing animations, then you should totally change Sonic's animation to move his legs as he does when holding the boost button as he'd do in his games. Other than that, love the spin jump and grinding features, keep up the great work.
This looks amazing. So fluid with the right amount of flourish. A quick suggestion: It seems like your voice and animations would better suit metal sonic. Especially the homing attack effect coming from his back (it would line up with metal sonic's back jet perfectly) You could even make a metal sonic prototype that could fit into the lore, so you don't have to go full metal.

In SA2 and heroes sonic has a trail behind him when he does a homing attack

Metal Sonic’s voice being a filtered and slightly more aggressive version of Sonic’s is something I wish Sega did more often.

@breadandcircuses8127 The only main issues I have with Frontiers is the collision in the open zone & Cyberspace physics. Sonic would sometimes magnetize to the floor.

I think, ignoring the fact that Sonic loses speed when on foot, this actually looks like a really fun moveset that would fit Sonic so well!
A game with these physics and a Sonic Frontiers styled world system would be really fun to mess around with, especially with how high the skill ceiling would be set! And the cyberspace stages that take these tricks into a linear level would be a blast, too!
We just need to find a way to make the combat work with it. Momentum based damage, anyone?

This looks so cool. If it's possible to add sonic boost effect instead of the rocket thruster It would look like sonic is a dlc character instead of a mod.

If you can overhaul the game mechanics for one specific character, i'd recommend allowing him to boost while sliding, and change the slide to a spindash. with using it mid movement just going into a ball. That would go a long way towards making him feel like sonic,

If I could make one suggestion, what if you made the manual animation a spindash charge. It definitely doesn’t have to add any speed when you’re in a groove, but it would be cool if it would let you get started fast and then work like a normal manual during the bulk of the gameplay.

This is the sonic I grew up on! I grew up with sonic 06. And although many people hated it… the game in my honest opinion was WAYYYYY ahead of its time in both graphics and gameplay/story options. Back then we had separate stories with good cutscenes and the glitches in the game weren’t even that bad… the glitches that would happen would have to be intentional for you to do them. Now we got the new voice actor for sonic and god I don’t like his voice for sonic lol. Silver was also super goated in that game.
@breadandcircuses8127 silver was easily the most OP out of the three. Man had telekenisis as his power lol. He could fly and he had a cooler story honestly.
@breadandcircuses8127 he killed the avocado trigger. All joking aside silver comes from the future where he was sent to kill the Iblis trigger to prevent his worlds destruction. I think that was always really badass. Sonic and shadow live in a wonderland compared to silver and the enemies he defeats. Also silver goes super silver, like super saiyan from dbz. That was badass

Honestly I can't tell the difference between the unique sonic tricks vs the ones In the game. I'm not sure if this is possible yet but it would be cool if you could mod in the animation of his adventure 2 pose as one of the boost tricks to give it more identity
I wish sonic had a backpack to justify the boosts.
