- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- Our homemade drag rail build is ready for a test drive! We used a Triumph 955cc inline 3 engine to build a drag rail. This will be a dual purpose homemade sand rail, and traditional pavement dragster. We've learned how to build a rail car from our 670 rail, and we used what we learned to make this mini dragster safer and better performing for the sand!
Thanks for Watching!

Isaac’s question “ why is it always me that breaks things” brings a new t shirt design to mind….
I.K.E. Issac Kills Everything.
I’m dying after reading this
Brilliant!!
HA
"I break things & stuff - Professionally."
@J Don’t be so hard on John. Everyone fills a role on the cars and cameras team. Just so happens that John is the one with the business sense. Here’s a lil food for thought…. He’s out there doing it, and we’re all watching on tv.
Great stuff as usual guys, the engine sounds healthy.
A lil advise : fiberglass is a cheaper & lighter option to the sheet panels.
If you're up to it, you already have the templates, why not try a few fiberglass panels (might make for good content) plus you might learn a thing or 2.
Greetings from the Caribbean Trinidad & Tobago

Those welds look like you were holding a baby dragon and you told it "Sneeze Here" 🐲🐲🐲
In all seriousness, I think John should pay to send Charles to a few welding classes.
A good first test drive always ends in burnouts and broken parts!
But is that safe ?
Especially when you are still idiots 7 years into building shit.
@@Philc231 well it is entertaining so
So true
@CarsandCameras how much is the repairs going to cost?
Wednesday is my new favourite day, loving the progress being made.
Sounds so damn cool too. Can't wait to see this going full tilt.
Sand, dirt and asphalt, need to call it the Triumph triple threat, love this build
I really like the Charles time-lapse & music. 👌
I am so glad that you took the big funky sides off of the rail. It looks much better. Now it needs a cars and camera wrap on it. It’s looking good.
Holy hell some.of those welds....
Gap welding in progress....
Charles don't feel bad as everyone does make mistakes, but like you said at least you got it on video. Keep up the great work you guys do and keep up the great content you guys do. Love from Albany Creek Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Great work guys!! That thing will HAUL at the dirt drags for sure! It also looks great without the side pods - just my opinion. Well done!
more like a traditional rail. it looks light and sleek
@@ghomerhust Yep, my thoughts as well.
Side pods would've looked a lot better if the front of the pods were angled back instead of being squared off
Good work guys! I think you should stick some noise reduction pads on those side panels so it doesn't make that rattle noise while riding. After all good project. Nice to see it finally moving under its own power. 👍🤟
The rail sounds AWESOME....
Thank you for caging the driver area.We want you around for a Long time.(Plus most tracks will pass you for 'tech').It sounds Mean, and looks Lean and ready to Rip!
Glad to see that the opal is going to be coming up soon thanks Ike
ABSOLUTELY -----> AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!. 🙂
We all know those sidepods were coming off the moment John “welded” them on 😂
Thank god they was ugly
I feel a little bad, he was sooo excited...Ah, well.
Could do with some blast fenders to keep their heads from receiving rocks and mud to the back of the head.
They need to be a lot smaller
Don't eat the tide pods, but if you hungry there's plenty of cotton candy in the attic.
Fun fact if you say "fun fact" people will read your comment
Mooooooom!!! I'm famous
Wow😂
Fun fact
It's a trap!!!
Fun fact. It made me read it.
You got me 😂
2:15 I had a 76 CB 750K that was bored to 836, ported, cammed, and rejetted; it turned some heads at Thunder Valley.
Man I can't wait to see this thing flying down a drag strip.
Good first run guys, John is becoming a very good narrator and commentator. His editing is improving as well. Nice to see Ike and Charles working on the projects, can't wait to see this beast on the straight track
I love this build i weigh 260lbs and on my stock 2000 955i with no wind screen or fairings and i went 11.01 in the 1/4 this thing is going to be wicked
I think putting some kind of Cal induction right through the top of the head dumping right down onto the top of the motor would be really cool
Ya gotta make sure there's freeplay on the clutch cable. If there's constant pressure on the lever, loading the pushrod it'll heat up (bluing)and......well....
The max arm travel is 1/2-3/4"
Keep up the great work guys!
Very cool. I do notice the drivers head sticks out in front of the top of the cage (halo). If she flips the drivers head is exposed. Wondering if you could extend the front of the cage a bit to cover the head area near the very top of the cage so you can still get in and out somewhat easily and the drivers head is covered.. Kinda like an awning over an entry door...kinda. Nice work guys, she seems quick.
Someone in your shop needs to take a welding course, that is some chickenshit...
And that's the last time we ever saw the rail
Wonder how many viewers ever heard of an Opel GT? That is going to be cool!!
I can’t wait for the 660 ft time! I freaking love this thing!
Thank God you guys professional
I am subscribed and have been for over 6 years. Love your content great progress. I haven't gotten notice of your videos nor are they coming up in my subscribed list. I only found the videos in my suggested videos. I'm not a fan of the new algorithm or what ever bs they are doing. Thank y'all for all the entertainment and great info and ideas!!
Make sure the correct "Bell" is set up in your subscription. It should have what look like parenthesis around it. If it is just a bell, then you will only get an email. If it has a line through it you won't get any notification at all. I am getting notified every time myself, so I can vouch for it working. Can pretty much count on something every Wednesday.
That weld line looks like blobs of silly putty .
Y'all are awesome!! Can't wait to meet you guys at PATE!!
Super awesome!! The roll cage gives me sprint car vibes you gut should definitely try to build one of those in the future 👍
If you want to get much quicker shifts might consider a quickshifter.
As long as you are using the ECU from the bike the engine came off.
Allows you to make clutchless shifts with the throttle wide open.
Just have to use the clutch when taking off from a stop and when stopping.
Healtech offers one for the Daytona and Sprint models with this engine.
Retails for $320.
Should be a fairly easy install.
I have owned several bikes with quick shifters and they are great.
Can go wide open throttle and bang through the gears without having to release the throttle and use the clutch.
If you are racing it, it would shave significant time.
Some bikes also have the option for clutchless downshifting, but not sure on this one, and it’s not as important.
The general design for most of them is a sensor on the shift rod which is connected to the ECU and a control module.
When you begin to put pressure on the shifter, the sensor recognizes the pressure and sends a signal to the ECU to momentarily (milliseconds) cut ignition spark.
Which allows the shift to seamlessly occur without using the clutch.
There are plenty of YT videos showing motorcycles with them, as they have become standard on many bikes now.
Videos will demonstrate just how well they work, and the speed you can shift.
Hallelujah! Finally lol a project lol love it guys!
i wont lie... as a long time die hard fan of the cb750... the start of the cross kart build was painful. but it turned out so awesome that i think it was worth it in the end.
That sounds sooo good!!
Looking good!!!. Give it a killer paint job. Probably my fave of all your projects. Keep them coming
A throw back Don the snake purdome tribute .
Cr
You should get yourselves a bead roller and put some beads in that sheet metal to help combat the booming the metal is doing. Other than that this is a ripper.
2:39 yes the CB 750 did come out first but the GS 750 that followed it a few years later was a nice bike as well. It wasn’t faster but it was a nice enough bike that it made Honda step up their game and the rest is history. I would’ve liked to of seen you guys get a hold of the old Yamaha RZ 350 a 3 cylinder two-stroke
Good job boys!
Just keeping it real. I was gonna say it in the video when you put those side pods on that they were terrible. Glad to see them go if they had some angle to them and they were smallor it would look a lot better
Can’t wait for this one to take on the 670 Dragster
Charles stay strong buddy
Might be time for a metal lathe. It would be a wonderful addition to your shop.
Loving It!!!!
Good build......or should I sat....great destruction....lol....thanks for sharing this with us
You still need to triangulate the front with some bars or at least a vertical or two on the sides. If one of you lose it and hit in the front it's collapsing and it can crush your feet or skewer you with a folding 6ft long piece of tubing.
bingo!
if they get in a crash that bad ther gonna die or get seriously injured anyway what your suggesting is a waste of time and wont look good theyve accepted the responsibility of driving this just leave it at that
nevermind im assumin you mean a x or v brace underneath in the middle then that would make sense i thought ya meant off the side or something
@@TylerDuysen I don't think you understand how a tube chassis/roll cage works in a race car. The area you are sitting in, including your feet, needs to stay intact and the rest of the car/cage crumples/bends to absorb energy in the crash. There needs to be uprights (and a cross brace really) on the sides beyond their feet to keep the sides from smashing and bending whichever way the force takes them. There is a good 6 feet at least of tubing top and bottom with zero support and much of their legs are in that zone. In a frontal impact which will probably have some side forces as well, it's going to turn that 6 ft tube into a Z and the front is going to impale them and/or fold over possibly with an ankle or whatever in there. Look at guys walking away from top fuel dragster crashes at 300mph or any nascar, sprint car ECT that go on wild rides and walk away. This 100hp go kart isn't going to be running numbers that should make it lethal to crash in with a little forethought and design consideration. Find a pic of a Jr dragster frame online. That's how it should be built. This isn't a yard kart. "It'll be fine" doesn't apply here. Ike is a moron if you haven't figured that out. John has no experience besides following along with Ike and Charles is probably telling them the same thing I am off camera(I hope).
You would think over the years the build quality would be better? Look at the welds and the sheet metal and over all quality of this build. I would not get in and drive this abortion.
Wait! The back of that frame is not complete! Those axle hangers are only being held on by the two front bolts. They need to be boxed in. Sure it’ll work. But why not just frame it in? It’s not like it would be a lot of work or added weight. Just added insurance and rigidity.
Just a tip your welds are lacking penetration as you are running the amps to high causing you to wash weld. If you turn the amps down and slow down the your travel speed you will end up with much stronger and visually pleasing welds
Are you saying they're welding 1/8" with 3/8" settings?
There ruff for sure
I would have thought the Kawasaki H2 triple the widowmaker would've been the first superbike
The H2 didn't come out until 1972.
This is so awesome
Looks so cool now..glad y’all didn’t keep those giant boxes on the side lol it looked a lil goofy..
John said in this episode should be triple purpose but I think a good name could be triple threat.
Put the gear shifter rod in a tube so help it stay stiffer less slop
Hope you guys feel safe with that roll cage, I'd move that shifter, if you get in an accident with that shifter handle you may end up getting your arm pinned.
1969 was the first year it was considered the first super bike
Y'all need to add removable rear fenders for off road activities!!!
Love the content keep up the hard work guys.
Those o ring chains are a pain to do the master links but you'll get her, needle nose pliers help
Hi guys... That little piece breaking off is a common problem with Triumph clutches.... Go back with something stronger/homemade.... A 2 step will get that things launching from a standing start...
HOLY BOOGER WELDS BATMAN
*drag car takes off like a rocket* "i found a hole!"
that tric was the reliant robin of go karts
***Take it to the drag strip!!!!!!***
Looking forward to seeing you guys restore that Opel GT. Living in So Cal I have the opportunity to see everything from rolling wrecks to pristine restored cars on the road.
I thought that’s what it was. No one really knows about the GT. A decade ago you could still find decent ones for cheap but now they seem near impossible to find.
I can't wait for it too, it's been teasing me sitting in the background of videos for ages. I was getting worried that they'd never make a video of it.
Miss the two video a week format, but love the longer episodes. I'll bet a can of blinker fluid she blows away the 670. Well done. Are the tires interchangeable on the 2 rails?
That ole 750 is screamin 😂
That 1/8-turn steering looks horrifying
my guess would be that you've over pulled the clutch and broke something inside, needs a pedal stop so it doesnt get pulled as far.. top work guys
edit: realised its what you diagnosed anyway
Maybe order 2 of those release pieces.
The SOHC cb750’s (69-78) are the ones considered the first super bike and those bikes and their parts are much more valuable. So your probably ok parting out the later DOHC bikes lol.
Charles broke the clutch and let ike think he broke it😂😂
Expecting the next custom build to be in the 200hp range. You've been slowly progressing in that direction 🤣🤣
You Gotta a Lathe Make it LOL Oh First you gotta know how....
The Secret project looks like an early 70s opal GT.
How about 4 beadlock across the back?. Then add a v shape nose wing?.😎
A hint on that opel it's been killing me ever since I first saw it
the litt le car is so neat ❤
I feel like it needs a top fuel wing to complete the look.
Shifter left side for namby pamby brittish wussies, here in America we drive on the right side of the road
Y’all need to invest in a tig setup will clean your work up drastically
You should put long a arm front suspension on the trike
That was some quick speed on Charles part once he saw the fire😅
The trifecta
You could get a Pingel electronic shifter. Or an Electric over Air shifter. They both interrupt the ignition to allow the forced shift without using a clutch. Shift into first gear with clutch pulled in at the line and every shift after that you just push a button and it shifts one gear at a time, every time you push the button.
Otherwise known as a recluse clutch.
Definitely the way to go I know some who had an air shifter on aa wicked fast sporty
The clutch arm on that motorcycle engine, isn’t supposed to have that much travel. It can mess with the internals of the clutch actuator.
Ya should build a cone cret pad to test the drag carts on
Rest in peace Jeb 🌳 the seat cushion . Lol Mr Charles take it easy .
Don't forget to finish the exhaust so the engine has the correct back pressure, my triumph team terrible if I took everything after the collector.
Much as I dislike being negative, this build is way past the speeds at which you guys need to really step up the welding and design. My suggestion would be to study modern dragster design and scale it down. Slapping tubing together on the floor is cool and all, but if your front end snaps off or folds at the top end of a drag pass in this beast, someone is going to get seriously hurt. We all love the builds, but its not worth your health and safety
It’ll be fine
Ike’s enormous balls will protect him from serious injury. The other two better stay off of it
@@zanechristenson3436 He's really gonna be in trouble when he gets old....those suckers gonna drag behind him a long way
@@ManiacRacing lol I thought that shortly after he ain’t far off of it. But he’s gonna send it anyway
No no why qwatch racing??for crashes
Awesome build but you guys definitely need to put some kind of steering stabilizer especially for at high speed, that could be bad at high speed and a twitch from the steering wheel. But awesome build
Skate wheels is what i always use they are tough.
I say you guys should name the cart the silver lining
I love your show and watch you all the time but knowing that you do have tools why is it that your first hand tool of choice is always a pliers ?
At 550 lbs, I have a feeling that axle is going to get bent quick driving it off-road with much speed.
Charles is a legend and don't let the nugget make you second guess yourself young fella. Nugget is a guy that will always know more than any person in any situation, young Chuck keep up the great work mate 👍
That steering is gonna be sketchy on the big end of track. Moves really fast.
a larger steering wheel would help make smaller increments in the steering
It sounds like a bunch of shopping carts being ran over by dumpster.
