    Salt in the water makes it so you don't just taste the sauce but a combination of sauce and pasta. Olive oil prevents the sauce from sticking to pasta so it should be avoided unless its in the sauce like pesto. Finally don't rinse your pasta and keep some pasta water. The starch helps the sauce bind to the pasta and give a more even coating on each noodle.

    • @danielgehring7437
      @danielgehring7437 Месяц назад +1

      Classically,in that case, you use butter. I don't know exactly what's in the butter that does it, but it does a much better job at stopping the bubbles from forming.

    • @Alberich_Prince_of_Dwarves
      @Alberich_Prince_of_Dwarves Месяц назад +3

      Or just don't put a lid on. I have NEVER heard that using oil prevents the water from boiling over. I have heard other silly superstitions like a wooden spoon across the pot will prevent boiling over, but it's not true.
      Monitor your pasta, just like you'd monitor any other thing you're cooking.

    • @danielgehring7437
      @danielgehring7437 Месяц назад +3

      @@Alberich_Prince_of_Dwarves Both of those do actually work, but only for a limited amount of time. The oil floats, forcing the bubbles to overcome a greater amount of surface tension to rise, but only until the boiling itself mixes the oil into the water; the spoon works simply because it's cooler than the steam, but there again, it will quickly heat up because of the steam itself.
      I think the bigger problem is that people always overestimate how long they have to cook noodles for, not realizing that something that's al dente out of the pot will be nice and soft by the time it's plated up. So yeah if you're going to let your spaghetti cook for a solid ten minutes, constantly stirring might not be the best solution... but you shouldn't be cooking it that long in the first place.

    • @phiefer3
      @phiefer3 Месяц назад +4

      Adding salt actually raises the boiling point. It does however decrease the specific heat causing it's temperature to rise faster, these mostly cancel out unless the salt concentration is extremely high. When it comes to the amount of salt that you are likely to use in cooking, the difference in boiling time between salted and non-salted water would be a few seconds at most.
      Salted water is used for pasta mainly for flavor purposes, though it can also have other effects on the texture of the pasta as well.

    If you don't have a massive pot to cook it in, you've no choice but to break the pasta (depending on the pasta type/shape obviously, I'm not out here snapping each individual elbow maccaroni piece in half before boiling it).

      Pasta gets soft when it starts cooking. You just let part of it get soft and then it'll all fit in a pot, unless you're trying to cook in a cup or something

      @@ICLHStudio no. It literally takes 10 seconds for pasta to soften enough to be able to bend and fit in the pot. There's a reason we make pasta that shape and we certainly don't use big ass pots to cook it. Unless you only have a comically small pot but at that point why the hell did you even buy long pasta to begin with

      @@apexzora4423 10 seconds can be the difference though between fine and barely edible though, so it's long enough to make a difference. Whereas shorter spaghetti makes literally no difference whatsoever, other than as an arbitrary thing to be elitist about.

    Maybe you need this tip, but only add salt after the water has boiled, otherwise the water will take longer to boil (which takes more time and will cost you more since you will waste more gas/electricity)
