Master Key had the same set for 37 years until May 2020. I do like the new set though. Some of the newer sets, I didn’t like the makeovers on such as Punch a Bunch and Pushover.
I think the original Punch-a-Bunch set would be too fancy and bland for today. The 1996-present setup is okay.
Yes,Master Key got un update in 2020. Punch-A-Bunch and Pushover just got new paint jobs
It can take a while to get used to makeovers you know.

I was 12 and I remember seeing this debut!
Not only was this car game won that edition, but some other lady won a Chevy Cavalier in Lucky Seven and another lady took home a Mustang Convertible in the showcase. Fitting end for all three ladies!
Johnny Olson was the most enthusiastic when he told the contestant to come on down and was the best announcing a new car. That's just my opinion.
He invented how to say, "Come on down!"
How does he ever find the time to do all these game shows? First he's on TPIR while announcing Match Game, Concentration, Now You See It, etc.

Also, this would have been the last year for the Fairmont, it was replaced by the Tempo in 1984
I've always wondered why they never set up the game so that the master key would cause all the locks to open when turning it the first time.
More suspenseful. If you win the cheap prize right away like this woman did, you likely think you won just that prize. So it builds up suspense by having the contestant turn it in the cheap prize first and once they win that, taking them to the most expensive prize.

I wouldn't put it past TPIR to make sure that the very first time the game was played that it was a big winner.
If indeed, then it was very likely for promotional purposes-- however, TBH, not all games have been so lucky; Gridlock was lost on its maiden voyage in 2017.

Of course not. That would be cheating and dishonest, reminiscent of the game show scandals of the 1950's. Plus if she won two keys everyone would have seen she won two Master keys and it would have been exposed as rigged. Get real!

Master Key is a classic this is the first run of it. glad she drew the Master Key in her first run some people when they play Master Key pick the dud and that key don't open anything. The Master Key can open any lock and you know you won when all three locks light up.
Well we know Master Key would start its syndication run in 1985, and return once again in 1994.

Master Key makes me laugh because all the keys are cut the same. They’re all identical. So in theory all of them should open all the locks!
The keys have slots and magnets in them, that correspond 2 the locks! The Master Key has a magnet in all 3 slots, so it'll trigger all the locks, the dud key has no magnets, and won't trigger any locks, and then there's a magnet in a different slot 4 each of the other 3 keys!

It was just luck that she took the Master Key and won everything. It seems that with Drew Carey when a contestant has only one key, they take the Blank key and lose.
Presumably it was rigged for the first appearance of the game to make it exciting. What year did they stop rigging game shows?
It wasn't "luck"; it was rigged, in a sense. They couldn't allow a brand new game to have a negative connotation right out the gate, so probably ALL the keys the FIRST time the game was played were master keys. Unbeknownst to the contestants. They probably took all the prop master keys and put them out.

Whats more astonishing to me than her lucky pick was that ceiling fans back then cost about the same as they do now. How is that possible? Sure there are expensive options for them out there but you can easily get a ceiling fan for 500 or less. So how has that price not really changed, but a brand new car on the same show is less than 10k and now youre lucky to get any car for less than 20k? Crazy how things arent consistent.
