@@SherrieMartin You're a real inspiration! My family could never afford gymnastics lesson. Now, I am wondering if I should take it up in my retirement! Level 0 is looking achievable after your performance. Well done!
@@fredrika27 You should start! It will help you and it's never too late to start. Adult gymnastics is growing tons. Can you find a gym in your area that has an adult class?
OMG...look she's for real doing kips to front hip support to back hip circle. It's not the Olympics, but it is tiring shit. Good for her. She has pretty natural swing too and nice toe-point.
If only I could find a gymnastics facility that would let me come practice! The last one I attended literally called me off the floor during open gym while I was tumbling to tell me they found out their insurance company wouldn’t allow people of my age (I was around 30 at the time) due to the potential for injury. As a former Class 1 competitive gymnast I would love to be back in the gym even though I am 53 now.
That's a bummer. What area of the country or what state are you in? Adult gymnastics is growing and I feel like it's getting easier to obtain insurance.
@@mjamitche5245 Nope. I own www.spokaneaerial.com an aerial arts and circus gym. I do gymnastics with other coaches at other gyms not at my gym. I started this gymnastics project at age 51. This is awesome! It’s people like you who make me excited to continue with gymnastics into adulthood. I’m currently a college club gymnast, but we overlap with the adult gymnastics community often, and they are so welcoming to everyone interested in the sport. If you’re going to NAIGC nationals this year, I hope to see you there!
I can't believe how this is going. One of my gymnastics friends (age 35) said I progress really slow. Well, that is how it works for me. So we'll see how it goes from here. #onwardfriends
No giants for this old lady! Haha. I have this huge fear of how to stop when doing giants on the strap bar. Like will I twist something and get hurt. But I do have pretty good tap swings, I am told. I love bars.
That's just so fucking awesome! I would have the same fear.... I had to quit when I was 13 because my mom kept getting arrested. Still have 5 sets of stiches on my face from her but I could still do whipbacks n stuff in my 20's. I would so so love to get back into it. Floor and bars we're my favorite. I always wondered does anyone really like vault or is just something we have to learn and endure. Jk...kinda. :) Cheer's to you n keep going for me please!

This is no shade to cycling, but as a sport it is much more low-impact than gymnastics which means the body can hold on for longer. This is why you see loads of 50- and 60-something Olympic equestrians but Oksana Chusovitina is a freak of nature.

Wow! As a 65 year old former collegiate gymnast, I can't tell you how impressive this is to me, that she can still do a kip! Bravo!
Thank you!
