As far as I'm aware, cup cars are not turbocharged, but yeah, the sequential 'box puts it closer to those. Still, the GT-2 RS was pretty much the same power without the sequential 'box.
Been waiting for this episode for so long and it was worth it. Rooted for the Porsche since the beginning and couldn't be happier to see it win overall. Thank you /Drive and BBI for putting on a good show!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I love any help you can give me
@Willie Ronald thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
TheLastMag so how do you know they didn't dyno this car after they got it from the factory and it made 420 at the wheels? So you're just assuming he's talking about bhp when he clearly said "ALL WHEEL DRIVE HORSE POWER".....
I think they said 700 to the wheels at the track and i think theyd run full boost for a hot lap? idk what it is so most would assume roughly 15% loss for a RWD (I'm not a porsche expert) that would be like 805ish probably around that
Probably running low boost for safety for a track event, honestly. Higher boost would be for drag racing. That being said, 800 crank horsepower or more is pretty good for a ~4L engine.
That was an awesome series! i want to see another one of those. as weeks crept by i kept waiting to see the next car in the challenge. way to go DRIVE!
Very well executed. This thing looks incredible and performs like no other. One correction, I just literally, 2 days ago installed a GT3 front bumper on my C2S. This car in the video uses a GT2 front bumper and not the GT3, which is more appropriate with the turbo motor. Well done BBi
I'd bet, equal to or better than the NSX, the Porsche motor is the most reliable. Had it had its stock Getrag 6-Speed in it, it would have been the most reliable track day car there.
***** - Idk, most kit car builders who have used LS motors like using Porsche Getrag manual transmissions because of their strength. They flip them and use a bell-housing adapter. Also, performance parts and performance cars wear out a lot faster. More power is more wear on everything.
***** - The factory parts are tossed because they aren't as good as race parts. The DCT in the 991s are really good, really strong.. but by no means a race transmission. I think trackwise, the Holinger transmissions are last longer on the track vs Porsche DCT. But, they aren't even competitors since the DCT is a compromise between track and normal driving.
blank check build and they couldn't put a tach in it that matches the engine? also, Hoosiers is kinda cheating. they may be DOT legal (prolly for some race class) but even their website had a disclaimer saying not to use their tires on public roads. but I guess a loop hole is a loop hole...
It's a disclaimer for road conditions the tires weren't tested or rated for. Toyo says the same thing for just about all their tires, mainly due to wet roads or dirt, and just about every other performance tire manufacturer says the same thing too. They're DOT legal because some states have conditions that other states don't have, and having semi slicks be legal in Arizona where it's warm, dry and clean but not legal in Seattle where it's wet, cold and snowy would be impractical. I'd say it's perfectly fair, especially since manufacturers have a disclaimer against bad road conditions.
Don't be ridiculous, Toyo DOT tires don't have warnings like this: NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE: All Hoosier Racing Tires including DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires are designed for racing purposes only on specified racing surfaces and are not to be operated on public roadways. DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires meet Department Of Transportation requirements for marking and performance only and are NOT INTENDED FOR HIGHWAY USE. It is unsafe to operate any Hoosier Racing Tire including DOT tires on public roads. The prohibited use of Hoosier Racing Tires on public roadways may result in loss of traction, unexpected loss of vehicle control, or sudden loss of tire pressure, resulting in a vehicle crash and SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH. listed in multiple places on their website, link below is one of them www.hoosiertire.com/images/content/files/TCTR7_A7.pdf and if you've driven of ridden in a car with Hoosiers, you'd understand. They're in a different league, no real DOT tire can even come close.
Bob Last What the manufacturer recommends for variable road conditions so they don't get sued by idiots running hoosiers in a blizzard and what the DOT recommends for a tire that can sustain it's rotational inertia at highway speeds and allows a minimum amount of water displacement are two different things. Toyo tires have similar warnings as well. You could also argue the Porsche's roll cage isn't legal for the road since it has no foam sleeves to protect the driver's head. Hoosier's road legal tires are inspected and approved for legal road use by the DOT, that's how a tire is deemed road legal....whether they recommend it or not is completely irrelevant, especially in this case.
SideWays8Productions how about you actually read Hoosier's warning. it doesn't say anything about road condition, it flat out says NOT TO BE OPERATED ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS, DEATH CAN OCCUR. Also says the DOT label is just a formality. show me something like that for a Toyo DOT tire. Or Nitto NT01 for that matter. they have warnings about low temps, but thats it. Hoosier's warning flat out says not to use it on public roads.
Being that the mustang was like $60k cheaper than the next car, I would love to see it's lap time with just another $10k into it, just a supercharger putting out easily over 600hp on stock block and better wider wheels. I bet it would beat the GTR
Awesome car. I think style points should be removed from a car shootout as it's subjective and opinion based. Entertaining series to watch nonetheless.
If all that mattered was performance/value, everyone would drive GTRs. Looks matter. The way they did it (by relative rank rather than points) was smart and takes subjectivity into account.
bocajuniors55 ""Many would argue the order for style points is wrong including myself."" Feel free, but you're not the one with a car-review channel and thousands of subscribers, are you? Claiming "many" is just so much rhetorical hand-waving with zero substance. There are many comments here. Few make the same gripe.
ceounicom No I don't have a channel or thousands of subscribers but I do have a huge fan of my commentary. That would be you sir. I'm flattered that you take so much of your precious time to reply to my opinions! Send me your address. I'll send you an autograph.
BBI turned tuning Porsches almost an industry. This takes costs amd divide then over different costumers. So they can make some sick stuff, with a reasonable price
Great shootout, unlike the boys at motortrend the fastest car actually won. Excellent video. Now for fun you should line up the cars and have a good ole drag race
it won overall with buying out the rest . A rare seductive sight to see but only a eccentric business man would do it. for me the reality of seeing one in the Midwest is as if I got a letter like Marty McFly got from Doc Brown in the late 19th century . That unicorn should not really be up there or the NXS , I still enjoyed the show . keep going Matt
Thanks, I really enjoyed the shootout. Next time please don't add music I'd much rather listen to Matt, Leh, and the cars. Also unless it's coming, I'd really like to see Leh's hot laps.
Am surprise he didn't wrap the steering and knob! Would be able to have a smaller one but tighter grip! Add small over fenders for bigger tires! Porsche is just too sexy! So simple yet right on the mark!
The car is lovely as hell, but that transmission isn’t something I’d use lol. It definitely serves it’s purpose on the track though. Amazing car and actually does deserve a win!
Hey Matt, I was just wondering what the music was called that you were playing at 12:00. Great content by the way. I would love to see something like this again!
it is hard to know information about Porsche cars if you don't go deep in them .. I mean only Porsche lovers will know that's a GT2 front bumper and this car had more than 420hp from factory, any way.. that's a great video ... this car is like my dream car now
How did they convert it to rwd successfully? I know you can just remove the components, but I've read on the forums that it makes the car act weird at the limit due to the computers not functioning correctly. I read that a GT2 gauge cluster swap could solve the problem but Ive yet to find someone who has actually done it. My dream car is a 997 turbo thats almost converted to GT2 spec, as I know the GT2 will probably appreciate tons from where it is now.
That 997 generation were really pretty
IMO the 997 was the best looking generation.
The GT3RS spoiler works really well with the GT2 bodykit. What an amazing machine they've built here.
I sounds great. Even though it's got a turbo
Lennard Hartman Even tho it has a turbo, what's that supposed to mean? This is badass because of the turbos lol
Tyler Hoeve because turbo cars usually have the raw engine sound a bit muffled.
This one still kind of sounds like a GT3 engine
So, it's basically a home made GT-2 RS, awesome.
are the cup cars turbocharged??
As far as I'm aware, cup cars are not turbocharged, but yeah, the sequential 'box puts it closer to those. Still, the GT-2 RS was pretty much the same power without the sequential 'box.
correct.
Tamas Bodo To use Porsche terminology, I would say it's a homemade GT2 Clubsport. Incredible car.
Yeah about that....
Now this was one we were looking forward to seeing! BBI + Porsche has proven to be a good combination in the past
i like the car very much, i do appreciate that they did the exterior very tasfully, not crazely overdone or rice at all.
So, the gearbox costs the same as the entire Mustang in this shootout?
RomVlad exactly! Just dumb
RomVlad theirs a 30k mustang without a v6 or i4???
Kurt M well you can get a 2011-2012 5.0 for 20k easy
Kurt M The entire build of the Mustang cost $30,000, including the cost of the car and all upgrades.
Seeing the final result it's worth every penny. No 30 000$ Mustang can come close to it.
Honestly, 250 isn't bad considering how similar it is (or seems to me) to a GT2RS which is close to double that.
Been waiting for this episode for so long and it was worth it. Rooted for the Porsche since the beginning and couldn't be happier to see it win overall. Thank you /Drive and BBI for putting on a good show!
This is so NFS, especially when the frames drops remember me the consoles.
Wow tío, veo tus vídeos y son muy buenos, saludos...

I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the login password. I love any help you can give me
@Jakob Jaxtyn instablaster =)
@Willie Ronald thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
RIP /TUNED you will forever be a legendary series
is an onboard clip of the fastest lap too much to ask?
That Porsche is freaking amazing
This video couldn't be more perfect, I'm in love
I'm a simple man. I hear Matt, I give a thumbs up!
that Porsche with a 6 SPD manual would be heaven
trevor philips the car still has a clutch so i think it's fine the way it is
2:40 Get your Porsche Turbo Stats right, the least amount of output a 997 Turbo ever made from the factory is 473hp. Not 420.
funkingitup clearly not what he was referring too or he would have miss quoted every output number in the video
I'm guessing it was close to 420 at the wheels
TheLastMag so how do you know they didn't dyno this car after they got it from the factory and it made 420 at the wheels? So you're just assuming he's talking about bhp when he clearly said "ALL WHEEL DRIVE HORSE POWER".....
lmgtfy.com/?q=2007+911+turbo+horsepower
Clearly he said "ALL WHEEL DRIVE HORSE POWER" differentiating the fact they made it only rear wheel drive.
Concurred :)
Holy hell that is one crazy effort put out by BBI Autosport. Owner definitely chose the right crew for the job. Great build
How much power does it make on high boost?
That's what I wanted to know.
That's a GT2 front bumper, and I'm pretty sure the Turbo of that year made 460HP, not 420, but those are semantics... Cause this thing is amazing.
Steve Neill Well spotted.
480 even :)
420, 460, 480, whatever it takes ;)
they make 480HP stock
You Sir are correct!
that Porsche with a regular 6 speed manual would be heaven
trevor philips I was thinking the exact same thing
I come back to watch this every time I want to smile
Very polished video + editing. Great content guys
The speed of that 911 looks terrifying. Terrifyingly awesome. Enjoyed this shootout video!
Now I want to see the hot laps of all the cars.
That was an awesome series! i want to see another one of those. as weeks crept by i kept waiting to see the next car in the challenge. way to go DRIVE!
Best thought out and executed shootout I have seen in awhile. Keep up the great work 👍
Now that`s the best show on youtube. And I would go for the Porshe over a Ferarri or McLaren any day of the week
that 911 Turbo is insane!!!
well put together.
That Porsche is beautiful! And no surprise really. But love the whole series, and the music jamming though!
This one is the best of the lot.... I love Porsches!!!
The best car of the line-up hands down.
Awesome segment. Love the tuner shootout concept.
MAN it's good to have /TUNED back!
Drives still got it! That was dope! +TheSmokingTire
Cool to see the GTR was only 3 seconds behind the Porsche.
Yea cause after 10 laps it would only be 30 seconds behind, at lap 20 a minute behind..
Very well executed. This thing looks incredible and performs like no other. One correction, I just literally, 2 days ago installed a GT3 front bumper on my C2S. This car in the video uses a GT2 front bumper and not the GT3, which is more appropriate with the turbo motor. Well done BBi
The front fenders on the Porsche are gorgeous
This is why the 996 gt2rs is the best porche ever!!
love how this was shot and edited.
What an amazing car! I had no idea it existed. Good to know there's guys out there willing to drop the coin necessary to build such a monster 😎
I like the dust on the dashboard. It illustrates the fact that it is a real car and not some garage queen.
I'd bet, equal to or better than the NSX, the Porsche motor is the most reliable. Had it had its stock Getrag 6-Speed in it, it would have been the most reliable track day car there.

It's Zero Hour I would of said the vw was the least relisble
Video shot way cool, keep this format up!!!
Loved this segment!! These should be done more often!!
blank check build and they couldn't put a tach in it that matches the engine?

Also, I would consider those Hoosier tires "cheating" but they found a loop hole in the rules.

I'm still curious what the mustang could've done if it was also tuned at the engine
That thing is really a monster for the street!
Good film. Like the new format.
Loved this series.
loved the shootout!! do it again!!
What a SERIES!! Could have changed the entire Tuning landscape like a tuning world cup not just drag racing
Honestly thought it was going to be way more than 250k
BBI turned tuning Porsches almost an industry. This takes costs amd divide then over different costumers. So they can make some sick stuff, with a reasonable price
All I can say is... simply gorgeous...
Love that BBI porsche, wouldn`t mind taking it for a few laps at "The Ring".
Awesome built from BBI
Great shootout, unlike the boys at motortrend the fastest car actually won. Excellent video. Now for fun you should line up the cars and have a good ole drag race

Please do this Tuner Shootout again
Thanks, I really enjoyed the shootout. Next time please don't add music I'd much rather listen to Matt, Leh, and the cars. Also unless it's coming, I'd really like to see Leh's hot laps.
So Matt do you think this trans is better then using a PDK with a flash/tune? I'll admit pushing that big shifter around probably feels great hah
Am I the only one who noticed the weird exhaustpipes??? One points up and the other one points down! :D :D
Miss this series
That whine though
Great series! More stuff like this please!
The sound is delicious
The noise from those straight cut gears would annoy the shit out of me if it weren't for the rest of the noises that thing makes lol.
7:03 ... so why do the exhausts look like people who have eye problems ?
Projeto incrivel, excelente obra de arte! O som do escapamento é uma sinfonia de arrepiar! Parabéns! Brasil.
Editing looks great!
what is that song?
Am surprise he didn't wrap the steering and knob! Would be able to have a smaller one but tighter grip! Add small over fenders for bigger tires! Porsche is just too sexy! So simple yet right on the mark!
Holy crap. Awesome!
yeah, your right that shit really is a thing of dreams!
this is a hero car, 100% reminds me of nfs undercover
That is one sick car!
Wow. Who cares about the price. Love the look and love that whining Hollinger in the background.
I like The shoot out!
I don't really care what anyone says the 911 as a platform is a monster.
Love the way it sounds!
It's amazing how on point Decside's prediction was in the comments for the coming soon video.
We need this back
THAT PORSCH!!!!! I WANT THAT PORSCHE. damn i love bbi. /DRIVE just got a new subscriber :)
Wow that Porsche has a big shifter! Half the height of the cabin! LOL.. crazy
RESPECT ONE LOVE
So what is it on the high boost setting?
You guys should include the lap time video.
This is my fav car. got damn im in love! Allways loved porsches but this... omg :D
You should try the 997 GT2 RS to compare. Because this one is also scary as hell !
(y) hell ya - what a car - what a build!
Awesome video.... period.
I wonder what time the GT-R would have done with slicks on.
