THANKS for the credits! I don't know how some people who post classical pieces think we can track the works down without the names of the composer, the work or a particular recording!
As a child, I played the clarinet in band but one day as an adult in the 90s I walked into a Rizzoli bookstore and a Rondo Veneziano CD was playing. My life changed and there was no turning back. Rondò Veneziano and Maestro Reverberi pointed me to Europe and there was no turning back.
Then you need to hear Swan of Tuonella ;) It's also hard to listen to Gabriel's oboe at this stage and not be a little sad. I never liked it but my Nana always asked me to play it. So of course I played it for the funeral. Both of the above remind me of my late Nana.
What a delightful collection to have come across my YT feed today! Not only do I love early music and baroque, but the sound of a well-played oboe is a way to open one's inner sanctum to spend time in the lovely garden therein. For my fellow oboe lovers, a fabulous "read" ("reed?" Ha ha ha) is the book 92008) "Marcel Tabuteau: How Do You Expect to Play the Oboe If You Can't Peel a Mushroom?" written by Laila Storch. Awesome material in there, trust me. You will love it. I found it in my local library system; now I own it.
To some it's opium which gives peace of mind but to some others it's the Oboe music which makes crucial difference in their day to day lives. The crux of the matter is that the latter will never adversely affect the mental and physical health of anyone. Thanks, once again it's the Brilliant Classics which makes the crucial difference!

Your words contain much in the way of wisdom. Music has always had a place in prayer, contemplation, and worship. For me, the test of good music is, "Does it lift me higher, or drag me lower?" This music is uplifting to me. I also find the music of people such as Anoushka Shankar to be uplifting as well.
