In this clip, Iman Shumpert spoke about his new project, “This Car Ain’t Stolen,” which doesn’t have any features. Iman explained that this is the start of him being consistent with his music, and he added that he wants fans to like his music just because he’s on a song. From there, Iman spoke about being independent and having a limited schedule to promote the project, due to him working on television and film projects. Vlad also asked Iman about doing “Turnt They Back” on Fredo Santana’s “Fredo Krueger 2” mixtape, which Iman said was the first song he did with a major artist. Iman explained that he didn’t have a lot of time to spend with Fredo, who passed away at just 27. Iman admitted that the situation made him take a look at his own life, which you can hear more about above.

Fredo really was different though. It’s a shame there are no long form interviews with him around, atleast that I’m aware of.

I’ll take a listen. I know at one point people use to trip off athletes releasing music, but I never felt that way. I’m still a fan of Shaw’s Can’t Stop the Reign, I Got Skillz, and No Hook. And recently, I randomly discovered Orlando Browns song. He went off on Diddy and others. I forget it because it’s only popped up once on my current playlist of 500+ songs, but yeah. If you dope you dope. It’s a slippery slope to say background don’t matter because certain artist I just won’t listen to, but Iman doesn’t rub me the wrong way or done anything negative. I have his wife’s song on my playlist now. The one she did that’s a remix featuring Wu-Tang. That record took me back to some old Wu and had me listening to Wu and Jodeci again. Yeah, if you dope you dope. I’m down to listen.
