A scientist, an atheist, and a Catholic walk into a bar. Catholic: Where is God? Atheist: Yeah. I'll do you one better. Who is God? Scientist: I'll do you one better! WHY IS GOD?
+Liam Arnold Way too early for that, Cosmos is like a once every 30 or so years event. Unless a development occurs that is so major, that it fundamentally shifts the way we look at the Universe, be it extraterrestrial aliens or warp drive, Cosmos should be a once a generation or two event.
+Liam Arnold Yea man, Cosmos is once in a life time sorta thing. The last one happened in the 70's, then not again until 2014. I wouldn't get my hopes up, unless there's some mayor breakthroughs soon, which is entirely possible.
I would love a Season 2. Honestly, I would love to see it go past Season 34 if that means that there are people in this world that would love to explore beyond our own Solar System and embrace the unknown that is throughout our galaxy.
clawhammr666 Yes, the original Carl Sagan's Cosmos was only 13 episodes long. However these episodes where over 1 hour each, as opposed to Niel Tyson's 45 minute episodes.
+Meeny McSweeny Obscure science fiction? Ringworld is an iconic science fiction novel along the lines of I, Robot, Enders Game to name a few. Hell, the video game Halo is based upon it. Just because it hasn't been made into a movie doesn't mean its obscure.
+Itachi056 I apologize. Your are right. I shouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that it was obscure. Just because I've never heard of it doesn't make it so. Please forgive my ignorance.
+Meeny McSweeny Hey man it's cool. Maybe I should be the one apologizing for coming just a bit strong. Anyway, you could always learn about it on the internet :))
Are there more interviews or talks with MacFarlane and Tyson? I feel like they would make an amazing duo. Both have equal enthusiasm for science and humour while Tyson is mostly knowledge with some gteat humor and MacFarlane is mostly humour with great science knowledge. I feel as though they could riff off of each other all day in a great way. It could be equally hilarious and educational.
BOOM! This is why I love Colbert. He brings the geeky into the main stream. I love the Ringworld reference. He could have dumbed it down and said we found Halo but he kept it real.

Ringworld reference! I love it! Also consider the scope of Kepler, it's covering such a small portion of our "detectable sphere"; what other facinating questions await the prying hexagonal eye of the future James Webb Telescope?! Science Rules! Hail Sagan!
+Joe Kerr a thousand light years is traveling 1000 years at the sped of light. humans havent been around long enough to get that far. going as fast as we can today im sure.
+Rusty Shakleford How do you know that we haven't been around longer? Maybe the earth is the last surviving colony who devolved and is starting to evolve again?
+Akaki მაქაცარია Because we can almost completely track human's gradual evolution since fish went on to land. If there had been alien colonization going on, it would have had a large impact on the fossil record.
The title is Stephen geeks out with Neil. He mentions Ringworld. And I actually know precisely what he’s talking about. I’ve grown in geekiness. And I’m proud. Only read the original though. Others and supplementary novels are in queue.
I didn't think it was possible to love Colbert more and then he goes and goes Ringworld on us! Complete with a picture no less. Awe inspiring. Wait a minute... if he's right does that mean the Pak fleet is headed our way?
"It has also been hypothesized that the changes in brightness could be signs of activity associated with intelligent extraterrestrial life constructing a Dyson swarm; however, further analysis based on data until the end of 2017 showed wavelength-dependent dimming consistent with dust but not an opaque object such as an alien megastructure which would block all wavelengths of light equally."
