Diwali is the festival of light. Light over darkness. Epitomizes the exuberance of life.
Diwali is actually a 5 day festival celebrated in various ways by different communities
1 - Dhanteras ( Day we worship for wealth and prosperity) we clean our homes, buy new things like gold or silver jewellery, utensils, vehicles , clothes etc.
2- Chhoti Diwali( little diwali) a day before Diwali. It is called Narak Chaudas to ward off bad spirits of underground world (Narak means hell)
3- Diwali
4- Govardhan Puja (in this many people worship a mythical hill god known as Govardhan by symbolizing it using cowdung)
5- Bhai Dooj( The sisters keep fast for their brothers for their good health and well-being, so the brother gives some return gift)
Many more rituals are there but these are basic ones.

It is very risky, the reason why burnt patients increase drastically during Diwali.

Its because this thing is happening in India (land of free cows ,snake charmers, Maharajas,idiotic bollywood dancers and curry). If this was happening in, say for example in Europe ,it would have been different. What else do you expect ??
Even in India ,some enlightened Indians(who are left handed), start having panic attack during this festival, because Diwali is too dangerous for them.
@@rjj54321 I find it really fun though. Except for the crackers which blast too soon. Its scary to think it would blast in our hands if we didn't throw it away soon

Actually there are many complicated Rangolis though I am happy they included it and by the way it isn't dangerous at all. I started doing fireworks since I was abot 7 without any fear

@@wlvl8136 No ,it's not part of Diwali. When bhagwan Ram returned to Ayodhya ,he did not burst crackers. Burning firecrackers is just an excuse for doing fun nowadays. Diwali is festival of lights, not a festival of fire.
What do you mean modern or nowadays?? You guys are smoking or what? Bursting firecrackers has always been tradition. Yes it may not be as old as the origin of Diwai but it certainly happening since several decades.

In tamil nadu in diwali we didn't light the candle .we do it in last of novenber we say it karthigai thibam that day also we fire the crackers ...then markazhi which is famous for wake up morning 4:30 -5:00 to put kolam its good for health and we go to temple morning the we have a pongal😍😍😍😍.its tamil tradition ...

Mainly the festivities start on Dhanteras
First day - Dhanteras- when God Dhanvantri was born . He was born from Samdura Manthan holding Elixir. He is also the one who gave knowledge of Ayurveda to humans. He is one of Avatar of bhagwan Vishnu.
Second day - Narak Chaturdashi /Choti Diwali - On this day demon Narkasur was killed by Goddess.
Third day - Deepawali/ Diwali On this day Goddes Mahalakshmi was born .And Shri Ram, Mata Sita and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and killing Demon Ravan .
We do Lakshmi Puja on this day.
Single girls also do Gharaunda puja to get good house after marriage.
We burst crackers ,light diyas ,eat sweets make Rangoli and decorate entire house.
Fourth day - Anakut - this day we prepare 56 vegetables / as many as can be prepared .
Fifth day - Bhai Douj - Sisters do puja and ask for long life for brothers .
