fun fact the oxford plains pit road is used in real life exactly as it is set up on iracing, including the double sided stalls on the infield. They actually have live pit stops in a 250 lap SLM race with 40-45 cars every year and the pit stops are show itself.
But wait a second! Dirt races don’t even use pit road! The tires never get changed in the race; and the races aren’t long enough to get re-fueled ever! There’s no reason to even consider dirt pit roa- wait a moment…
This is why I was so excited for the 5 layer shader that Willow Springs has. It's one of the biggest issues I've had with iracing graphics for years. Even if your description is just describing how 3D meshes work in general haha

The reason for the squiggle back pit at Oxford is 1. It's there in real life 2. They didn't want to move the flags and in between used to be where emergency vehicles parked during races. Other advantage is during long races there's enough room to park retired cars out of the way. I wish it had both sides for iRacing honestly lol
So weedsport irl, i think you said it but the pits are actually over there. Years ago though they use to use the infield as the pits area for 4 cylinders and the street stocks/pure stocks or whatever they called them and the main pit was in turn 1 where you see the ambulance on iracing. Be glad we dont have to come in and out there
for Pocono North, IRL they use the entry to the nascar pitlane as the exit and the front straight as a the entry. So makes sense why iracing just did the acess road
I do the timing and scoring at Lernerville lmao Didn't expect it to be number one, although in the sim, it does cause a lot of problems, so I can see it lmao Irl it's not as bad. Even in iRacing, if you slow down and hug the top like they do IRL, it won't send you flying lol I watched Sheldon Haudenchild go up over at that exact spot sideways a couple years ago. Was sitting in the pit grandstands before I worked there. He went completely over and landed on his wheels at the bottom of the hill. Came back out with just the tip of one of his wings bent lol
My local track has the pits in the parking lot. It has a figure 8 configuration so there's no walls or anything on the inside. People whip it in the parking lot, fix things, and fly back out at full speed
not sure if its on iracing but Donnington park has an old pit entrance between the Melbourne hairline and Goddards. Those ive not seen it used since the early to mid 90s
That is weird that a hosted session at Oxford Plains only uses 35 of the pit stalls but AI races at that track use all 45 pit stalls. When you mentioned the right side stalls were painted but not useable I was confused because I had raced there and had a right side pit stall when starting at the back of the grid. iRacing should update the stalls used if they are already there somewhere in the sim.
Oxford has a second pit road due to the fact that yearly they run the Oxford 250, a 250 lap race with Super Late Model cars, and just as in iracing, they use the squiggly pit road for half the field, even during green flag pit stops
When he mentioned that one, I immediately thought of the track where they would have to hold the drivers a half a lap because of thr same issue. I can't remember the name of the track though, nor can I beyond a shadow of a doubt remember of NASCAR used it.
in australia at murray bridge speedway a sprintcar race is held where there are pit stops so the haters are wrong it is called the 60 for 60 ts sadly not in iracing
If you make a pt. 3 the Charlotte legends road courses would be good And while i dont have a bday party anytime soon, if you want to come karting with me, just ask
I think the charlotte dirt track pit road is like that for a technical reason. If it just went straight down the middle, you'd end up skipping a bunch of the checkpoints on the track and you'd get disqualified instantly. I could be wrong though.
How on earth are you supposed to know on which lane your pitstall is at Oxford Plains?! Also what you seem to be forgetting for the usage of those pitroads in official races are penalties. I already had to use the pitlane on Wild West Motorsports Park myself after an accidental jumpstart for example. So it‘s not that far fetched to end up in those.
Forgot to mention the K-Rail right in the middle of the pit lane at the Vegas Road course. Did a race with some friends there, and found out the hard way you couldn't drive through it lol.
i won’t ever understand why iracing doesn’t utilize real pit areas such as garages or off track places like (dirt charlotte) for example. the outer part of the track is used is damage occurs. then the chili bowl. that might be hard to turn, but it’s realistic. they’ll trade images if things in garages and stuff as well. make the “simulator” more realistic
You forgot the most stupid out entry in all of iracing! Knockhill RX😅 Wild west pit road is necessary for serving penalties on jump starts but it gets even much much better: In rallycross you get a post race penalty for jump starts or doing wrong joker laps. All of those things happen frequently. But in knockhill you have to drive through the pits in order to serve the penalty. the pit entry is blocked with stones so you get dqed, you tow or you find a way through the stones which actually some people have done somehow.
half the time i cant even find the pitroad and just drive by it, but ima rooki juust started and press the reset button twice to pit but idk, can you stSorry, my bad still do that in serious races like nascar??

Yep. It is very improvised
HOLY Shit

Stole my words
I've been in plenty of dirt oval races on iRacing with pit stops :) They add to the excitement :) Those dirt oval races were 60 mins long.
Wild West gives me the feeling of like a Mario Kart track where the track exists by itself and everything outside of the track is just 2D textures
This is why I was so excited for the 5 layer shader that Willow Springs has. It's one of the biggest issues I've had with iracing graphics for years.

Finding the pit entry in dirt road when you get a penalty usually ends in me getting DQed 😂
The first one, "Legacy Silverstone South", that's total fantasy. The old vale straight was never used as a pitlane IRL...
I had to use Wild West on my first ever race there for a drive through for jumping the start, was pure guesswork for the entry

90% of these are like Formula E type pitlanez with hairpins and going super out of the way

Nice!! Though I still prefer my pit entries to be “optimal” ;)

You probably spent more time just trying to get onto pit road at lernerville than practicing for an arca race
Just about tbh
not sure if its on iracing but Donnington park has an old pit entrance between the Melbourne hairline and Goddards. Those ive not seen it used since the early to mid 90s
After Senna set a lap record using the pitlane, combined with no speed limits, they changed the pitlane entry shortly after
@@amphobius Thank you friendo I was never sure why they changed the pitlane.

Ya i based that off of in the hosted session menu when you put over 35 it says shared pit roads, very interesting AI uses them all!

im surprised the charlotte dirt track pit road dont go outside the track cuz that were the "pits" technically are during dirt late model races
Charlotte has a real pit road outside turn 3 and 4 lol ive never seen them do that before
I think the charlotte dirt track pit road is like that for a technical reason. If it just went straight down the middle, you'd end up skipping a bunch of the checkpoints on the track and you'd get disqualified instantly. I could be wrong though.
I have a birthday in July. If you come to Berlin, I will organise a kart race here, so that you can defend your title :)
A flight across the globe is a small price to pay to defend glory!
Weedsports Pit entry and exit are accurate. This is very accurate for this track.
To be fair, Weedsport kinda makes sense, many short track pits are outside the track behind the walls
And it’s called weed sport
Makes sense in real life but pretty broken for sim racing haha

First one, its so angled because thats a huge gravel trap IRL
