I love this! I’ve been looking for a video like this for so long please keep making them!! I’m applying to ryerson media production soon so this was super helpful :))
This is so helpful! I'm an international student in 10th grade and I really want to plan ahead. How much do hs subjects actually matter into applying? I'm from a school that offers both IB and A Levels that I have to choose between next year. I heard you have to take an A levels for english which is required for those who want to get into Media Production (said on the ryerson website) but unfortunately my school only offers to take AS levels english so I'm considering switching to IB (which is quite known to be much harder but broad).
Hi! I’m greatly considering applying to this program within the next week. I’m really interested in communication within media. A career path I am determined to possibility pursue is a career within television, or even on the radio. I am thinking about becoming a news anchor or perhaps a talk show host one day. I know some alumni from this program work on television such as BT. I am not a large fan however of editing videos or anything like that, although I’m interested in other elements of the course. Is a lot of this course based upon that kind of thing? Thank you!
Hi, I'm applying to this program too. I believe editing will be involved in this program as I'm reviewing the curriculum, but radio and television play their part too, you can even pursue a concentration on it. From what I heard you can start a podcast using their studios! I do know people who are hosts who have been a part of Media Production. I assume talk show hosts have to know the behind-the-scenes stuff too so they can coordinate with the producers behind the scenes. Don't take my word for it though since I'm just an applicant but from my research, this is what I can conclude haha Here's the curriculum if you haven't seen it already: www.ryerson.ca/rta/Programs/Undergrad/MediaProduction/curriculum/ Concentrations: www.ryerson.ca/rta/Programs/Undergrad/MediaProduction/concentrations/
It is competitive to get in but once you get an interview that is your time to really show your passion for the program. Usually students who want to get in should have marks in the 80-90 % range! The higher the average the better considering the competition. For example if everyone who applies has 80% with great resumes, then admission is going to have to find a way to decided who to choose . Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply, just saw this today!
hey I am so sorry, I didn't see any of these messages until today! youtube didn't give me a notification! No the program isn't bad for you if you don't want to do graphic design. There are so many different roots you could go with the program and graphic design is only one of them. People leave RTA as videographers, directors, producers, graphic design artists etc. Hope this help and I hope you get in !
@@genevahines9558 No problem! I have a few more questions if you don't mind me asking. My first question is what should I do to help my resume when applying (skills, volunteer experience, etc?). My next question is do we have to do a type of test/exam when applying. I heard that some people before entering RTA had to do some type of test before being accepted, and some said they didn't. As for my last question, is the interview usually done in groups or individually? Sorry for the many questions haha.
@@mw3miner hey ! So as for your first question in relation to skills and volunteer experiences try to always show a focus on leadership and creativity in any way you can. For me I talked about a volunteer group that I was a part of in which I was able to make video content and take photos. I also made sure to talk about the leadership experiences I had in grade 12, so I spoke about being on student gov. As for your second/third question when applying at the very beginning of the process you need to answer a few short/long answer questions along with them looking at your grades. After this point if they are considering you, you will be given an interview. When you come in for your interview you are one on one with a faculty member in FCAD and they ask you a variety of questions (ex: why do you want to come to our program) . Also make sure to really show your passion and interest for the program when you are in the interview. When I had mine I made it very clear that this program was my very first choice. Then there is also the written portion. The written portion is when they ask you a question and you have to write your answer within the designated time they give you. Honestly I think the purpose of the written portion is just to make sure you can write in an organized fashion :). I hope this helps let me know if you have anymore questions.
@@genevahines9558 Ohhh true true. Thank you very much for the answers. I'm entering grade 12 this September, so I wanted to prepare myself early. I'm motivated now to get to work thanks to you 😊.
@@mw3miner I'm glad I helped and I think it's great that you are getting a head start on researching these programs ! I wish you all the best when you apply next year !
Hello, so glad you enjoyed the video and sorry for the late reply, I only saw this message now. To be honest I am not too sure about the Ryerson rejection rate vs other schools. I do know that RTA programs are a bit more difficult to get into with a lower acceptance rate. Although the minimum overall average says 70% students often have a higher average when applying. There is also the interview process that you would have to do which plays into the acceptance rate. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. This link explains a bit more about averages for media production in particular, so hopefully this can help a bit. www.ryerson.ca/programs/undergraduate/media-production/#:~:text=Typically%2C%20a%20minimum%20overall%20average,anglais%20(ENG4U%2FEAE4U).
Thanks for the question! To be honest with you I am not too familiar with the difficulty of getting into a masters in media production as I am an undergrad . Sorry about that !

How difficult is to get into RTA Media Production (Masters)? (International student)
Thanks for the question! To be honest with you I am not too familiar with the difficulty of getting into a masters in media production as I am an undergrad . Sorry about that !
What grades do I need in 12th grade to get admission in Ryerson as an international student?
I think the average is 80, so don't worry lol
@@u_s.i.f Yes, correct the average is an 80%
