When i did that mission in campaign on heroic i had weird glitch in the end for the final fight against nicolai. You see when did everything so, to actually kill him he went to the last castle up at the end of the map. I parked my hero infront of the castle, so he won't do anything and finished the round, which ended the week. After this i was about to attack him, when i noticed something odd. He had 1k phantom dragons just out of nowhere!! I am not joking, they were just there and after every week there would be +1k phantom dragons to the stack. The weirdest thing is despite him being abel to completly steamroll me, he just didnt move out of the caste. I then tried to keep up with the 5 undead settlements and turing the elves into zombies to put them all into the hero, who has the luck abillity. After however seeing my pitful army, which at that point reached the 1k mark, against the 10k phantom dragons in his army. I threw in the towel and restarted the mission ... I seriously dont know what happend there or what caused i didnt encounter it ever since..
I've had something similar happen to me in Tribes of the East, also on Heroic. Was playing Necro and had good enough army, tiers 3-7 mix and match Necro + Dark Elves. I got careless one week and an enemy AI sniped one of my cities, Dark Elf city to be precise. I lost the siege, but the enemy force got shat on by my chonky garrison. So i though, meh not a big deal I'll just go there next week and fuck them up... and it ALL went wrong. Thinking that the enemy has 1 week worth of creatures I attacked without looking at the garrsion... bruv... 1 week... they somehow had like 30+ hydras, 10+ dragons and a shit ton of lower tier units in there. Essentially the growth of creatures somehow shot up 4-5 times... I am fully aware that AI gets to cheat in Heroes series, and it gets more resources and more units at higher difficulties, but this was fucking wild. I lost that battle and the entire scenario : |. I've managed to sort of replicate this when i was playing inferno a few years later. Enemy necro somehow found a way to multiply their units by 2 or 3 at the end of the week. Never found out waht causes this but it does make certain maps fucking impossible, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU USE MODS. Don't even get me started on what sort of BS happens on Heroes V.V mod...
Yes, the cheating by AI is sometimes just ridiculous and very disturbing. You play a Huge map for the whole weekend and a perfect game just to witness the AI using disallowed spells to jump across the map and have a ridiculous amount of troops pulled out of thin air. Which makes it either impossible to win or a nuisance which forces you to play much longer than needed and loose the rank at the end - wasted weekend.
Same happened to me yesterday lol. He attacked my castle, Findan was inside. I killed his shooters and broke war machines, and he just didn't broke my ammo cart lmao. I won in the end. I think i recorded it but i don't think i will upload it since it's too long lol
Huge map, lotta armies, and a glitch at the end. Plus, I had to redo the whole level 'cause I saved right before the dragon glitch kicked in. I was so pissed. It took me years , but I finally beat m&m 5, and all the DLC's. Helluva game. Definately one of my favourites.
I remember fighting against a 6-7k skeleton army. This Nicolai fight is definitely not the most difficult. Look how many of OvniDlix's ranged attackers survived! If I remember correctly, I ended up having to use treants vs skeletons because I didn't have ranged attackers left. What won the game for me was Take Roots because it allow Treants to become nearly unkillable. It's amazing how little damage even thousands of skeletons can do, when your defense is over 100.
When I first fought him 15 years ago I didn't use phoenix thinking a dwarven set would be stronger than 5 puny birds and Nicolai keep reviving again. After reviveing 4 times he showed up with an army of 1000 spectral dragons lol
I want figures of heroes of might and magic to spread them out on the board and play 1 in 1 as a PC NP, only rearrange manually, not with keys. Somewhere in the summer outdoors in the village.
Honestly, Biara was one of the hardest final bosses of my life. 'Cause just to get to her, you have to block off all her escape routes first. And that comes down to every major character in tribes of the east. The dwarves, the orcs, and the others. The wizards have the only army you can increase in the level. The others depend on how many troops you have left from every major fight in the campaingn. And the number is set. Meaning, if any army isn't strong enough to win their siege, you're stuck. You can't win. And then there's Biara herself. Bro, the final siege was boderline bullshit, 'cause you can't brute force it. You need actual stratregy, unlike most of the game. Because, no matter what you do, her army will always be bigger.
That last mission is not that hard , because in ToB we have the "Memory Mentor" which we can get any perk /ultimate perk in any campaign factions. Heaven is for light and summoning magic , light - buff and phntom forced is very ez for take the inferno city. This one is the annoy-est in this last mission. For stronghold , you can spam click to hero before its attack the city. Normally, game would set that we need to use women babarian to siege but if you succeed for clicking at hero , you can use the male babarian which he had more stat and also have the ultimate perk "Absolute Rage" . This one is easiest. I dont talk about the Dungeon because they are very op with black dragon / hydra Dwarf is also not hard with ultmate perk "Absolute protection" + Destructive Magic... Lastly , for wizard with ultimate "Arcane Omniscience" , we can use any spells in game. The most imba spell like Puppet master and frenzy is the good combination to deal with Biara , just let one our tanky at gate and use those two magic for "let them fight (themselves)" in their wall. To be honestly, this Nicolai map is the way harder , especially for version 1.01 where infinity of Dark energy (he can rise the undead without capped number each week). With 6 undead cities , even having tear of asha , it is still not enough in long run. I once face the bigger about 7-10 times than this video around 4-5 months.
Ehm, I had to fight him with 11k sleletons ... He was constantly travel from town to town, killing everything on his way and avoiding my Findan at all cost (and recruted 250 skeletal dragons on his way). too
Treant: Goes defensive
Nicolai: "Holy shit, run"

Had the same but with 2.5k dragons
I did that on heroic too but my nicolai had only 1 zombie...

I used imbued balista with triple implosion for this mission:D
Creative!
Nikolai ragequits and then got caught escaping now, he's been executed.

if he dies which he does he will respawn with an army slightly scaled to yours, on difficult this is a very hard map
Amazing
Treant: YOU SHALL NOT PASS!
AI just ragequit. :D
Wow! :O
I use Talanar or Ginrael with nature luck and undeads from the other castles and I outgrow Nicolai eventually 😊
When I first fought him 15 years ago I didn't use phoenix thinking a dwarven set would be stronger than 5 puny birds and Nicolai keep reviving again. After reviveing 4 times he showed up with an army of 1000 spectral dragons lol
Is it possible to put your graphics settings any lower?

WTF? ! What stats you had? !

puppet master the phantoms.
I couldn't finish this, 2k skeletons are too far... 😭😭
Exposing druids by moving unicorns was dumb.

Only me who has to fight against 7 k skelleton archers in this campaign?
Ehm, I had to fight him with 11k sleletons ... He was constantly travel from town to town, killing everything on his way and avoiding my Findan at all cost (and recruted 250 skeletal dragons on his way). too
Maybe you had pre-TOTE version.
Then again, I usually went with Light and just teleported a stack of ents towards them.
@@radeksilar543 You had no logistics? Its must have skill in every campaign
final boss is sucks I'm disappointed
Actually, fairly easy fight considering your own army:)
