    Just found out about you guys from 60 cycle hum a year after he made the surf pedals video. Just absolutely blown away and can't wait to get a compact and blossom point. Keep up the drip!

    I went with the compact with not regrets. It sounds great and has versatility.

    I want one but can’t decide which one. I like the smaller size of the compact but I feet the metal sounds a little better. Just my observation.

      In all honesty we can tell you that you certainly feel and hear the difference between a type 4 (long) and a type 8 (short) pans. I understand size does matter :) but the SurfyBear Metal remains our best selling product because of how it sounds. The Classic is our *best* product if you want something that sounds the same of the Fender 6G15 of course, but not being true bypass it could be less versatile for some applications. Hope this helps. Feel free to contact us via email anytime.

      I went for the metal, still waiting for shipping but it just sounds fuller to me and I rather not compromise the sound in exchange of space. But if you really need the space, I’m sure the smaller will sound amazing too.

    Could you explain a little more how the decay knob works technically? Since the decay length is a physical characteristic of the springs, is it applying something like positive/negative feedback? Or simply gating the output of the tails?

    • @bjornisheden4472
      @bjornisheden4472 3 года назад +6

      Yes, you are right. Because of the physical constraints of the springs the only way to control the Decay is by using a gate circuit. This is of course not an optimal solution but it works surprisingly well.

    Turn off the reverb? Is that even an option?

    I wonder if the Fender Blues JR Reverb tank could be bi-past into this pedal? Now that would be really Kool!

      I don't think it would work even with some mods, and since it wouldn't fit in the allotted space, I can't see what the upside would be. It's better in many ways before the pre amp, as opposed to in the loop, like actual out board tanks would be.Worst case scenario, you just stack it on top of the amp.
      The BJR verb is known for sucking.

      @@markferguson3745 i figure all fender verb sucks maybe unless its from waay way back.

    SURFY INDUCSTRIES< it would be nice for the new 2023 version to have a DRIP control to adjust how much drip amount you want, you can boost the current driving the spring by using a current booster and shorter springs that are very loose. My 1963 fender tube reverb RCA jacks need a current booster current to drive the reverb pan springs harder. Try making a very small mini pedal that can do this to adjust the dripping effect. I know the Vox Super Beatles amplifiers has the best reverb drip sounds very drippy. I have to fake it by using two reverbs one reverb tank before the amplifier using a loose short spring and the amplifiers built in reverb which is parallel reverb set to tight long spring, this way the very drippy reverb gets wetter by the second reverb. You would have to build on in a Surfybear classic pedal that has two reverb units which reverb#1 one that is very DRIPPY and reverb#2 is very WET. Most fender amps had built in reverb which weren't very drippy so you set it very WET and using the front end fender reverb tube tanks set very drippy to drive the amplifier. You need both reverbs in this configuration to get that drippy to drop like in water. Thats how i visualize it in my mind while I'm playing surf music is water dripping in a water bowl and seeing the ripples.

      Because it wasn't the purpose of the video! The Compact sounds very close to the Metal but also can be made to sound more like a Twin Reverb. They have different purposes and this was to explain their differences. We have a video for each on our channel! Thanks for asking!
