I wanted to buy rg35xx h, but when I planned to do it, they released rg406h, I decided to wait for reviews and after I checked them, they released a new horizontal handheld and so this cycle repeated two more times. Then I remembered I have a controller and nice laptop to just sit and play games
What got me hooked was the PSP and custom firmware. I was surprised by the emulation. Ever since, I've loved tweaking more than playing. And I don't like it because I see myself finally finishing the Zelda games, and I never do. LOL. I hope my new controller arrives today.
This is something i always thought one People enter that REALM. I am sticking with my Steam Deck until it becomes outdated then recycle it for a Server or something.
As soon as you brought up Chrono Trigger, I KNEW this was directed towards me. I've been already falling out my honeymoon phase with my retroid pocket 4 pro.
@@HandheldHorizonsame here! What kinda of fixed my issue was the 28XX as it's pocketable enough to be an every day carry device and I can drop in and out of games for 10min or so per session. Just beated Animaniacs GB version on it and I'm going through SOTN for the first time and having a blast!
Dude no joke, this process describes me perfectly from the web searches down to "maybe finally playing chrono trigger". The odin 2 is honestly a perfect device. Its just so hard to decide what to play due to all the game choices, meaning I in fact have not yet played Chrino Trigger
I finally broke the cycle with an Odin 2 and an RG35XXSP. They play literally everything I could ever want, they're the perfect sizes/form-factors, and I got them set up perfectly that they are easy and fun to just pick up and play whenever. I sold all my other handhelds, including my steam deck thanks to these two.
I think I must be a rare case. I got my RG351MP 3 years ago and played with it non stop until I decided I wanted to start playing higher end games. Now I have the Odin 2 Mini and can't see myself changing it for a while
I don’t buy any since I have a modded switch oled with moonlight, but I still enjoy watching them on my way to the gym. It’s a nice tradition since there’s always new ones
I try to pretend I'm above this but then I realize I have a modded vita, ds, 3ds, switch lite, and gba, a steam deck, miyoo mini+, RP2, and the rp5 is coming in a week, and ooo that pocket dmg is lookin kinda special.... help me.
Is at that's accurate for every handheld I've had UNTIL the Odin2 Max. I've had it a year now and I still play it like crazy. Admittedly mostly for COD mobile and a small amount of PS2 games.
Actually , you should have done the part where we spend 3-5 sleepless all-nighters setting one up tinkering to get it perfect , then to only play 20min of 4-5 days on each system 😅😂😂😂
I totally installed dolphin and some GameCube platformer just a few short (six) months after my Odin 2 arriving. It's going to be great. Doesn't have an oled screen but I can live with that.
I have a game boy, a psp, a 3dsxl, and a steam deck. I'll definitely be getting the rg40xxv, but I'm also looking at either the Oden 2 or the retroid pocket 4. I have a problem.
@CyzerR001 I'm definitely replacing my gameboy with the rg40xxv, but I still use my psp, so I won't be replacing it anytime soon, especially since I like collecting the UMDs. But I want an android based console too, that's why I was thinking RP4 or 5

That was kinda with me as well. I bought Miyoo Mini. I didnt like it, it kept getting overheated and had severe issues. I then got a Anbernic RG280V, it had the same problem and more. But then i finally got myself a mid-high-end class device, Retroid Pocket Mini. And... man... it ticks all the boxes for me. It is perfect in every way. I need no more handhelds. I finally found the "one"
Is not about the games you play, is about the UI, the operating system.. Anything new, modern, is boring, had a lot of these consoles, after 1 month, they were sold. Because of the operating system, the interface, is way to modern and complicated, we just need a device, that just works, out of the box, feel nostalgic, the menu is familiar and simple. Tested all the linux os, also android, everyone was lacking something.
