I am against categorizing methods into "primary" and "secondary". Is Social Case Work more important than Social Action which is why it is a "primary method"? It's absurd! Who decides that or what politics are responsible for such categorization? No wonder there is so less activism today. How can a discipline work with people to minimize inequality if it cannot even treat it's own methods equally!
The categorization not based on its importance. The method directly dealing with individuals is considered as primary method and method which is indirectly dealing with individuals considered as secondary method
@@socialworkknowledgehub3825 I don't think so because in Social Action one deals directly with people. In social welfare administration too we deal directly with people say when you are applying principle of unity of command. And in Social Work Research we as Ph.D Scholars do ethnographic studies, case studies, FGDs where we are dealing directly with people.
@@socialworkknowledgehub3825 Why not something like Parallel Method A and Parallel Method B. Wherever there is privilege of one over the other it's patriarchal. What is primary and what is secondary method would rather depend on the context and nature of problem.
@@socialworkknowledgehub3825 How many schools of social work in India teach Social Action as a separate paper? Very few. It is because of politics. The more we say verbally it is a "secondary" method the more it would get less space in academic discourse.
