That's correct but those that you can mesure the acceleration in seconds to 100 with less years, are filling the junkyards. The calendar is to mesure the longevity i suppose :) Still rolling :)
I used to drive a 2.5 turbo diesel. A 126 bhp makes a lot of difference. And a five speed of course. Putting a 4 speed manual after 1980 in a Mercedes is a shame.

ive been thinking about getting one of these as a first car but ive heard that the 200D is pretty much the laziest out there. So then I started thinking about a 190 w201, any experience or stories on those mercs ?
Our 5 speed 200d never was lazy. Just drive full gas, shift late and you will be quite fast. The comfort is just so high you never get the idea that you go fast. The acceleration is slow in the beginning but until +-145kph it almost goes up linear. Our 5speed could do more than 180kmh on the speedo and I believe that because when I went behind the W124 with another car it reached the same speed. The fun thing is that you could drive how you want, the fuel consumption never goes above 7L/100km. If you save fuel you could get around 5.5L/100km. If you drive in the city +like a maniac 7-7,5L. Cruising fully loaded at 140kmh 6,7L. Great car capable of going fast with low fuel consumption. No modern car can beat that, but you need the 5speed version (a bit less bulletproof).One drawback: overtaking on two lane roads.
75hp. Why does it have to be quick? This car is not about that at all. Its about being cheap to run and reliable. If you wanted a quick 124 you had a lot of options...
My dad was driving the same one. Damn, I miss those times. Memories.

Sim recomendaria caso esteja num estado de conservação razoável. Com este motor é um carro bastante económico.

6 liters diesel / 100 km.
Your oil indicator should show 3.0 instead of 1.5!
The oil indicator always shows 3.0 when the engine is under load. Drops to 1.5 when is not. I presume that's the proper way.
