- Why is food healthier in Portugal and Europe in general? We noticed the difference when we went to Cape Town back in 2008. That's when we realized that the US's food is toxic and because of food deserts caused by racism - it is killing Black folks.

I traveled to Portugal in September 2022 with my daughter. I have to follow a renal diet but I was able to alter it during my trip with no consequences and I take several anti-rejection meds. After eating Portuguese foods for ten days, I felt better and applauded the entire menu during my stay. The added benefit was a loss of 5 lbs. Can’t eat the same foods here in the States. I’m returning there briefly for a summit and I have prepared a menu for the entire time. Thanks for the important information in this video.❤

I’ve been trying to tell friends and family this for almost 30 years but until recently they thought I was a snob. Food in America literally makes my stomach hurt. Plus, I eat whatever I want in Europe; but a soon as I return to the States, I must monitor everything I consume…Even then I still gain weight.
I agree 💯, I noticed a few years ago that when I traveled outside of the USA, I don’t have acid reflux. I can eat whatever and no problem. I just gotten back from Japan, I purchased some fruit, strawberries. First I could smell them, second they melted after a couple hours not being refrigerated. They were so good.
I realized that we'd been played back in 2008 when I saw the back of the Doritos and realized that the ingredients were 1/2 the list we see in the US. But I don't think I truly understood the differences until we moved.

My friends who are gluten intolerant don't have issues here.
Here in Portugal (and in Europe) eggs are not refrigerated - their are not washed previously either, nor they are bleached (yuck!). No need to. Eggs, naturally, are meant to last for 28 days (the hatching time for a chicken). You can, obviously, refrigerate them at home, and they will last longer (The cold, as long as it is adequate, helps to prolong the conservation of the egg, as it delays microbial development). To see if they are ok, you just dip them in water: Eggs that are fresh should sink horizontally in the water; those that are still GOOD, but aren't as fresh, can remain tilted at the bottom of the recipient. Spoiled and rotten eggs float. That's how I have learned, and that what I do when in doubt. If they are dirty, just clean with a humid cloth, and take off any dirt or feathers. Never wash them, just break the shell and use them. I never heard here of anyone (here) being sick with salmonella, but - obviously - you should only eat eggs that are good. Oh, and there's a stamp placed on all eggs sold - which includes the date they were laid, the European identification code that contains the exact origin, production system, country of origin, region and producer. [Now, you may ask... If the cold helps preserve eggs, why are they not in the refrigerator in commercial stores? here's the explanation: “If the eggs are in the cold and are transported to customers’ homes at room temperature (or under heat), they can become covered with condensed water, favoring the proliferation of microorganisms on the shell”.]
Wow thank you for the great information. 🤩 I read that they would mold if we refrigerated them. Is that not true?
@@OurBlackUtopia Nah. They just go old - it's wiser not eat them (if you are a garden person, just crack them open and bury them in the dirt. Plants love it.)... and some go bad. (Believe me that there is no doubt possible when they go bad... Stinky stuff! Yuck!)
I noticed the difference in my digestive health when outside of the USA. Don’t have to take no medication.
That's what I'm talkin' about - it's unconscionable what they're doing in the States.
Here in Mexico, products that have a lot of salt and sugar have a very visible warning label on the FRONT of the package! I can't see that ever happening in the US!

I traveled to Costa Rica last year. Before my trip every morning I had stomach issues to the point that I would start my day earlier.
I thought traveling internationally would be worse but it wasn't. I was in CR for two weeks, I ate everything & had no stomach problems. Returning home I tried to be cognizant of the chemicals that's being added to our food, I want to leave America because they don't care about us on so many levels!😂😂
There is nothing like good wholesome fresh foods period.
In Europe we do not give vitamins to our children. Vitamins are for people that have some ilness that require vitamins. Never understood why americans go crazy over them. I am 64 and never took a single vitamin in my life.

It is because American food is nutrient deficient, even the fresh food due to how it is grown.

I live in Portugal and the chicken wings are delicious. My only problem with them is that my husband just refuses to get rid of all the feathers before he cooks them. Lol!!😂
And way less expensive! I love them.

When I've traveled to different cities in Mexico, I noticed that not only is the food fresher but it tastes better too! --No preservatives or pesticides. And even though there are food shortages in Cuba, Cuba also doesn't use preservatives and pesticides. At the Casas particulares we stayed at in Havana, Vinales, Cienfuegos and Trinidad, every morning we would have fresh papaya or watermelon juice with breakfast. And the food - Food in Cuba is good AF
Hey Dwain, you are absolutely on point - it is amazing what we have settled for in the US without even realizing it. This morning I bit into a plum that is as purple on the inside as it is on the outside 😋 I hadn't tasted a plum like that since early adulthood or maybe even childhood!

Absolutely! We truly taste the difference - especially the produce and meats, oh and the eggs are richer too.
Here in Portugal we have 3 tapes of chiken- City chicken 500grs / 600grs - field chicken 700 grs to 1200grs and Fracas wich can only bought in country fairs and then or after purchase be killed to be eaten are about 1200grs til 2400 grs, ( little than a portuguese turkey) wich goes till 5 or 6.5 kgs).
Thank you Manuel for the information. We had no idea that there were different types of chickens. All of the chickens that we've seen have been 'normal' size in comparison to the chickens in the US. The chicken wing that we were referring to was literally the size of a tennis ball. 🎾 😳

About your weight (body weight) do not worry. Everyone is heavier before summertime because you needed fat during wintertime. If you just follow what your body asks about foodfrom now on and do not force yourself to eat more than you need (remember! it's a sin that behaviour!!!), you will be fit to go to the beach next month. Did you know Saint's, Rock in Rio, Super Rock Super Bock, etc etc festivals are about to start right now? Do not miss them! You know why? Like you said, it's banned in other countries and they are legal here. So the real question? Are we eating food in the United States?
Or is it just "food products". It's scary what they are getting away with...
What about bottled water? It was better in PT. Why?
Hey Cassandra - we don't drink bottled water we have a filter for our water to save the environment and money. The water here tends to have more minerals in it but other than that 🤷🏽♀️
