Perhaps you can answer this Tom, what was the purpose of the plate attached to the coal rails on your 5" Jinty?. I thought maybe to protect the top lamp, when coaling, but it seems rather unlikely.
I assume it was to protect the coupling and vac pipes on the full size from falling coal. However I can’t say for sure, just that the full size has it so I added it. Lol.
