Is it too early to bring out plants from inside? Every year we wait for the temperatures to warm up before bringing plants outside from the house/greenhouse. This year the weather looks good from early April. Is it worth risking bringing plants out?

I've brought out some of my more tender bananas and have had my Esetes out for a few weeks already. I may bring a couple of the plants back in temporarily before the storm this weekend to stop them from getting damaged.

This weather forecast is absolutely looking promising! My litmus test for tropicals is the deciduous and native plants are leafing out. Unless there’s a planty circumstance where something needs to go outside early.
I agree with you that the half hardy plants should go out if they can.

Taken everything out. If it cant go out now, it's not got a place in my garden.

Here in NL around Nijmegen I have brought out my Canna's, Jacaranda and the Ensete will be put outside tomorrow. I will keep them in the shade and sheltered for 2 weeks and if the forecast is still good, I'll see what I'm gonna do

2 week forecast here says above 6 degrees at night for the next 2 weeks . My brugmansias and cyphomandra hsve been outside since feb, but iv planted them out in the ground today . They have survived-6 in the greenhouse in 2022, so im not worried about a 2 or 3 degrees if it did drop . The grounds warm .I'v never planted them out before the 23rd of April before, but it feels right this year .

My ensete has grown like crazy over the winter indoors, still keeping an eye on the weather, but I have been aclimatising it for the past 3 weeks outside. Nothing low for the next 2 weeks here, so I'm starting to leave it out over night in a very sheltered spot tucked against the house.

I’m pulling my hair out here all my citrus trees are flowering like crazy in the garage, I think I’m getting them out tomorrow even though we’re not out of the woods for cold weather, we should be safe from a freeze… I hope. 😅😂

Great video Kris - I'm north of you in Teesside but have seen similar weather to yourself. I have a fair amount of potted cannas that I want to get in the ground in May, would you advise I leave them under glass until May (same as Ensete) or bring the pots out now to start hardening off?

I'd still keep most under cover but maybe bring a couple out and see how they perform

I have an empty poly tunnel, will my plants do better in there - warmer but less sun -for a few weeks before going fully outside? Or just get them right outside? Plants are musa, ensete, cannas, colocasia, ricinus seedlings. Based in gdansk poland.

I have a plan for everything this year with pretty hard set dates, the only thing I am unsure on as its my first year with ensetes is the six that have been slowly ticking over in the house, would you count moving them into my polytunnel as too soon? I am about five minutes away from Georges Jungle for location reference.

I would say if they are growing now with active roots I'd get them in the poly tunnel now. No scary cold on the horizon BUT it's still a slight risk

@@YorkshireKRISYeah one has put out a beautiful leaf recently. I could always pop them in the house if a bad cold spell appears. Thanks Kris.
